((This class is still open for a teacher. I just felt the need to get the first lesson out there for people to do.))
Brooms are lined up on the field as kids enter. After a bit of encouragement each student took their place beside a broom.
"With your wand hand out over the broom say Up firmly and clearly. The broom should come up into your hand and you should be able to grab onto it. This is just for when you are starting. When you are more experienced on a broom it should just come into your hand but for now saying it out loud will get you the best response. After you are done with that please mount the broom like this" she showed them "And go up in the air and then come back down by leaning slightly."
Extra Credit
No homework but for extra credit write 200 words or more doing this lesson. You can use their feelings for flying, their struggles or ease getting the broom to cooperate, or anything else you would like to do. Please place the post # and word count in your workbook.

Kahlan did not like heights. She did not like flying. She did not like sitting in a carriage in the sky which was much safer than on some kind of flimsy contraption that she could get thrown or fall off of. She basically wanted to puke.
Kahlan nervously stepped up to a broom. She thought calm thoughts treating the broom as a rabid dog. If must approach stand tall and be careful not to be afraid. It could sense fear. None of this really applied to the broom but Kahlan did it neverless.
Then she actually had to mount and fly around on this thing. Kahlan held her hand over the broom. She took another deep breath willing the broom to listen to her and not be a complete brat. She spoke loudly and clearly to her broom. "Up." And it did. It came right into her hand.
Kahlan was surpassed that she was one of the firsts to get this luck. Another kid was mounting it but the mount didn't look quite right. Kahlan shrugged figuring it was the angle. The professor was dealing with a student whose broom had hit her in the head and Kahlan didn't want to be the one to say a perfect mount was incorrect. She mounted double checking the image in her memory to make sure it was right. Once she was positive she launched off laughing at the thrill.
This was too easy. It was like doing a trick in gymnastics. Find the right stance. Kick off or get a running start. Lean and tense the right muscles to get control and do the tricks then...
Kahlan was up higher than she was supposed to be. But the professor was still preoccupied and didn't care. The kid above her by about 5 feet. The one with the incorrect mount. He was having trouble keeping control of his broom. His movements were awkward and erratic and so the broom was acting awkward and erratic.
Kahlan was about to tell him to change his stance when as he was trying to land he slipped and toppled off of his broom about 30 feet in the air.
Kahlan reacting fast. She dove down trying to beat his body in a race to the ground. She was a little below him now and she grabbed his sleeve as he went past.
...stick the landing. Kahlan leveled herself out while helping him onto her broom. She landed and then realized that every pair of eyes was on her. "I'm s-sorry I just-" she was cut off as the entire group of first years erupted into loud cheers.
"Never ridden a broom?" the Professor asked eyes smiling as she stared at Kahlan almost with a curiosity.
Kahlan shook her head. "I'd never even seen a broom fly until today. I'm muggle born."
"I think you may need to talk to the rest of the Quidditch team. They do need a Seeker."
Kahlan left the class stunned. Magic had never seen more "magical" than it did right now.
