William Graney | 21 comments Do you ever go into a bookstore and pluck a recipe out of a book and not buy the book?
I recently did that with the Les Halles cookbook's french frying technique.
I felt a little guilty but I'll probably buy the book at some point.

Adriana Olson (moonstricken666) | 7 comments i have actually never done that before which is suprising. most of the time if i flip through and i find at least a handful of reciepes that i like i end of buying it cuz i cant help myself.
the Les Halles cookbook is amazing. A wonderful collection of french bistro technique and food. I highly reccomend you buy it. :)

William Graney | 21 comments Pluck (in this case) =
Opening the book, memorizing the recipe, making the recipe at home.

Brett | 6 comments william,
your powers of memory are far better than mine. What I might do is see a combination that intrigues me in cookbook, take that 'idea' home in my head and make it my own. I would have a hard time remembering a recipe, but then again I love messing with the idea of a recipe, not really following a recipe. cheers.

William Graney | 21 comments This particular example was for french fries so there wasn't a lot to remember and I wrote the times and temperatures down when I got in my car.
I've decided to relieve myself of the guilt and ordered the Les Halles cookbook from Amazon (for about $10 less than I would have paid at Borders).
