ramo?

the one thing that confused me throughout the entire book is that zia doesn't seem to care about her uncle ramo. she's constantly concerned about karana but doesn't mention any concern for ramo. i believe she mentions once that karana was left behind because of her brother but since she couldn't have known that ramo was dead, why didn't she want him rescued too?
