character merge

I attempted to merge two characters and I'm not sure if it was done correctly (or at all). After I clicked the merge button, nothing happened (the button stayed there, no confirmation message).

The characters to be merged appear to be identical. It's Sigurður Óli (the other one is over on the right). Can someone else give it a try? Thanks.

I cheated. I deleted one of them and then re-added the character to the appropriate books.

So I still don't get the merge situation.

Me, either...don't understand a thing about it...so I'm leaving it alone. I just knew I could only see one!
