This sounds familiar - was the station in an old house, and did the DJ have his dog there? I've got this one in an anthology, but not sure which one. Let me go through some of them.
Hmmm.... I'm not sure. I have the impression that it was set in a city and the station is at the top of a building. Don't remember a dog. But I recall so little of it I might be completely wrong :-) Thanks for looking into this!
Found the story I was talking about - "Jane" by Barbara Gallow in the anthology "Ghosts: A Treasury of Chilling Tales Old and New". This doesn't sound like the story you're looking for, though, but it's a good one. Your description did remind me of another good story - The Night Wire by H.F. Arnold, which can be found on several sites. The only other thing I can think of would be an anthology entitled "Urban Horrors" - never read it, but it sounds like it would fit in there.
Phil, you're amazing! "The Night Wire" is it! I guess I just assumed it was a radio host and not wire service because it seemed urban, due to the skyscraper setting, but really what I was recalling was some kind of telecom-related element. I also remembered something about lots of paper, which would not make sense in a radio setting, but fits perfectly here. My memory is really poor :-)As soon as I saw the title, a bell went off in my head--and the text confirms it. Thank you so much! It's a great story. I'll look up "Jane" too when I get a chance; it sounds interesting as well.

Night Wire is public domain, I found it by a Google Search. However I have the feeling I have read it before. I will have to drag out the ladder and climb up to the top shelf and go through my anthologies up there.
