Well, my friends, When the Sleeper Wakes is available for free online with Google Books. Here is the web link: http://books.google.com/books?id=72YR...

It’s a horrible blot on civilization [my dad would say "syphilisation"] that the filthy rich have unfettered influence in Washington, and social programs designed to enrich the lives of the citizen taxpayers (i.e. public education, affordable health care, the arts and environmental protections) are vilified and demonized, while corporate welfare and tax loop holes for multinational conglomerates are championed. It's already 112 years since this was published and the more things change the more they stay the same; H. G. may as well have been writing about 2011.
