Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I'm going to be interviewing Brian, the creator of FictFact for a blog "Spotlight On: FictFact" post. I'd love your help!

Is there anything you'd like to know about the site? Do you have any issues or suggestions you'd like to share?

If you haven't heard of Fictfact, hop over there and check it out! It's a great place to organize your series reads!

Thanks, Guys! I really appreciate any input you have! :D

Sandra | 25908 comments I'll put the thinking cap on :)

message 3: by Dana (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments The series suggestion section is great along with the top 100 by genre. Me likey!

The publication updates=awesome.

I would suggest a check-box system for the 'mark as read'. It can be laborious to use the dropdown menu on some longer series. I think using check boxes for 'read', 'TBR', etc. would be more user friendly. I know you can mark them all as read, but if you have read 14 of 20, it can take some time to mark them all correctly. Of course, what do I know? :)

message 4: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Ohhh....fun! I know I thought of something just the other night when I was updating stuff. Hopefully the thought will resurface soon.

Some other stuff: I do wish they numbered the shorts differently (like the 1.5 system here) because that sometimes throws me. Also, it'd be nice to separate series into genres or something. My main list is just too long, and I don't get the "list" thing...maybe making that easier to use would solve this!

Kudos for responding to book/series suggestions so quickly, and like the updates.

I'm also curious about the when & why he started it (love it & very happy he did).

message 5: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments YAY! Thanks, ladies! Keep those questions and comments a goin'! I hope to submit my questions to him by mid-week, at the latest.

I agree with everything you've said so far. I need to poke around the site thoroughly again myself to see what ? and ideas I have to offer.

THANK YOU!

message 6: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments I agree with Judithe that the short stories need to be labeled in half numbers--that totally bothers my OCDemon when I get fictfact updates. :)

message 7: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Doesn't it, though!!

message 8: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Yes please on the easier way to mark books read or as being in your TBR. I love fictfact, but I'm way behind in updating because it can be somewhat laborous to bring up different series and mark books off as read or TBR. Having a button or a box to check by each books would be great.

I'd love it if they set up a forum. Ok maybe that's not a good idea since I already spend way too much time on paperbackswap and goodreads.

message 9: by Lisa M (new)

Lisa M (lamessegee) | 171 comments I'd like to be able to contact my Contacts. And anytime fictfact would like to add social networking features such as groups, I'll be there!

Please let Brian know how much we LOVE fictfact over here on Goodreads!

Zaanodes | 804 comments Another FictFact lover here!

The print option prints the WHOLE PAGE. Would it be possible to print just the books in the series?

message 11: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Are there any plans to enable editing your account details? Perhaps I'm blind but I'd like to change my username but can't seem to find a way to do that.

I enjoy ticking off those books. Every time I go over there to do just that I feel like I've accomplished something -one less book on the TBR pile.

And I agree with Judithe, a 1.5 system would be excellent.

message 12: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Oh, I remembered it. Are they going to do an app so we can easily use it from our smartphones/iphones?

I bet your iPhone ebook menu looks like the Library of Congress girl! ;)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Great ideas, suggestions and questions! Thank you!

@Lisa, I'll definitely be letting him know how much we GRers enjoy his site. :)

@Ames, I haven't seen a way to edit your profile either. Just looked and either it's not available or I'm missing the option to do so as well.

By contact them, you mean within FF itself? To discuss series, get suggestions?

message 16: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I agree that the contacts/followers section is weird. Never sure how to use it, how to add people, what its for, if you can't discuss anything with them?

There also seems to be a lot of back and forth when marking off books, especially from the series page.

And totally agree about the numbering. I much prefer GR numbering, but understand it would be huge for them to change now.

Love the responsiveness when I've asked them to add series or books, however obscure.

message 17: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Ditto w/the point of the followers & contacts. I'll ask him what their goal with that feature was and lead into our suggestions for being able to communicate in some way with them.

The marking can be time consuming. I agree w/Ames and always feel a sense of accomplishment when marking them off. :)

And, Big kudos to them on them for speedy responses, additions, etc.
