message 8: by drew (new)

drew BOMBUR!

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

I think Thorin, even though he can be sort of mean and overly-stern, is my favorite.

Bombur

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Ooops...that question was already answered.. my mistake.

I liked Dain who came to their rescue from the Iron Hills. He shows up, unexpectedly finding two different armies in his way and he's completely unfazed. Rather than acting as if,"I better tread carefully here," he reacts with "out of my way or we fight!" I have to admire someone who's not intimidated by others.

Beautiful Cheese (Celine) I like the ones with cellos strapped to their backs. I think it was Balin and dwlin

message 14: by Anna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anna Gimli...even though he isn't in this book.

Stephen Livingston It was Balin for me.

message 24: by Anna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anna Especially when he was caught eavesdropping, Sean Astin played very well.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah my favorite movie is Rudy and Sean Astin plays Rudy he plays him perfectly

I loved that movie.

Geoffrey The personalities of the dwarves is nowhere nearly as well drawn as the major 9 in LOR.

message 30: by Anna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anna Someone who doesn't like football movies that's who. Not me of course but there are a few out there.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

I was kidding I have friends who hate the movie.

message 32: by J.P. (new) - rated it 5 stars

J.P. McNeill I want to say Thorin, but he always seemed so flawed as a character/leader/king. His hissy fit with the elf king was purely childish, not to mention the fact that Bilbo did all the real work and Thorin treated him like crap til the end... I'm gonna say Fili and Kili. Even though they were the youngest they seemed to think straight under stress unlike the others who either cared more about food (Bombur) or Gold (All the Rest) and they always seemed to be the most level headed and cool dwarves, not to mention they were like the dwarves' special forces during the 6 Army War. (Spoiler) To bad they didn't make it...

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

You have some really good points to why you like them J.P.

message 34: by J.P. (new) - rated it 5 stars

J.P. McNeill Thanks, The Hobbit is my favorite book of all time.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

The Hobbit is one of my favorite but I can't chose a favorite.

message 36: by J.P. (new) - rated it 5 stars

J.P. McNeill I hated reading, writing, and books before I found a worn copy of The Hobbit in my grade school library when I was about 9 years old. The librarian said I was to young to read the book, but I was such a hardheaded kid then and when people said can't to me it was a challenge so I chose to prove her wrong... I spent more time in the library then at recess ever since. Its the book that opened my eyes to books.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

Cool I've always loved to read(thank goodness)because of my mom she is always reading and taught me to read when I was 3

sonya marie madden Bilbo Baggins.

message 39: by QR (new) - rated it 5 stars

QR I liked Bofur a lot! So glad he had a bigger role in the film!

www.puffcritique.blogspot.com

Devero Dwalin.
But for his equilibrium, I like his brother Balin.

Theodosia of the Fathomless Hall Probably Thorin...or Kili...or Bofur, I can't decide! :D It depends I guess.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

Fili!!! I love his mustache!

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

but Kili is so funny and really optemisic!

message 44: by Mia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mia Tasic My favourites are Fili and Kili.
Although not nearly as much as Gimli, who won me over forever with: "You have chosen the Evening, but my love is given to the Morning."

Theodosia of the Fathomless Hall Parker wrote: "I was just wondering... How many of your decisions are based on the film versus the book?"

Well a lot of the characters are more more apparent in the movie and well... ahem some not very tough on the eyes that helps the fangirls decision I would say...

Lauren Stoolfire Fili and Kili

johanna (jo) Thorin and Balin:)
