Joe Dunne (joedotdunne) Hi everyone.

Well I'm Joe, 35, married to Mandy.
I'm from Dublin but I'm living in Laois for the last few years.

I go through phases in my reading habits, I'll not read for 6 months and then I'll devour a few books a week for a while and then stop again.

My other obsession is music.
I spend a few hours everyday listening to music, my job ad a draughtsman means I'm in front of a pc for most of the day so I pop on my headphones and away I go. I also write songs and poems and stuff

My other other obsession is Martial Arts
I train and teach traditional Japanese martial arts in Portlaoise, we're a small club but it keeps me out of trouble.

I think that's it, if you have any questions fire away

Joe

s e n t i m e n t a l i t i e s olittlebear (olittlebear) o: How long did you have to train to be able to teach it ?

Do you teach mostly kids or adults too?

Hi Joe

Welcome to the group :-)

Keith Kelly (nedkelly) Nice to meet ya Joe. I'm also a Dub loving down in the sticks...Roscommon in my case :)

What sort of Music are you into? Being a musician, it's an obsession with me too.

I did Judo for a year and LOVED it!! I can't find anywhere here that does it though.

Joe Dunne (joedotdunne) olittlebear - I'm training in the current style for the last 10 years, but I've been training one way or another since I was 7 or so. I teach only adults as there are some concepts that can be hard for kids to grasp, also some of the "moves" can be dangerous.

Sam - ta!

Keith - My touchstone is ROCK!! although I try to listen to anything really. I'm going through a folk and alt-country phase atm.

I saw Eric Clapton at the O2 last week and was blown away, this week I'm going to see Whipping Boy play a local venue here in Portlaoise and next month I'm going to see Ryan Adams is Cork

Joe Dunne (joedotdunne) In a former life when I did more full contact ground and pound stuff injuries were more common than now.

The only serious injuries I've seen have come from people being idiots.

I had to give that up when I had a kidney transplant 10 years ago, luckily I found the Bujinkan. If you go to bujinkanportlaoise.com you can see the club website

I design industrial plants (brewery's, dairy's and stuff like that) in 3d.

I forgot to add that I try to define myself by what I'm for rather that what I'm against, I'd describe myself as a liberal hippie with draconian undertones.

s e n t i m e n t a l i t i e s olittlebear (olittlebear) How'd you lose the kidney ? Drink, fighting, or just a bad kidney ?

I'd like to learn something such as but i mean my ex does kickboxing and he said people get hit in the nose (by accident) and such a good bit.

and when i was in school one of my friends did jujitsu and had her arm pulled out of the socket.

._. it's kinda terrifying when you think about it.

Joe Dunne (joedotdunne) Just bad kidneys, they both packed up around the same time I moved out of home. Which was nice.

There is a certain amount of pain involved in training, that's unavoidable, however we try and keep the class as relaxed and as fun as we can whilst we punch and hurt each other.

s e n t i m e n t a l i t i e s olittlebear (olittlebear) bruises don't bother me but the threat of broken bones makes me fret. D;

Paul (taytothief) Joe wrote: "I forgot to add that I try to define myself by what I'm for rather that what I'm against, I'd describe myself as a liberal hippie with draconian undertones. "
Care to elaborate? I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that before!!

Joe Dunne (joedotdunne) I'd put it this way, you're free to do what ever makes you happy in your life.

Tattoo your face, paint your ass blue and bounce down the road roaring a merry tune whilst dressed as an 18th century fopp, there are no limits and it's none of my business.

However if you pick up your kids from school dressed in your payamas you should be kicked to death.

I'm also on twitter if anyone want to follow @joedotdunne

s e n t i m e n t a l i t i e s olittlebear (olittlebear) I actually wear PJ's about every now and then ...... :/

don't get the big problem so long as they're nice ones and clean like.

i mean you have people with skirts up their hole and guys with pants too tight. others with their stomachs and everything else hanging out.

so i think i'd prefer to see all of them in some decent pajamas really. especially more so than someone with a tattoo'd face and a painted blue ass on show. :p
