Stacey (staceyissassy) I love to read, write and talk about books. If I can find someone who talks back to me I'm a happy camper. I sometimes step out of my comfort zone with my book choices and it's great to have people to talk me through it. The blog I'm involved with is formed by like-minded readers who I met on Goodreads.

Brittain *Needs a Nap and a Drink* (bwilliams2013) I often find myself not finding anybody to talk to about books. Through blogging and goodreads, I'm able to connect with other readers and rant and rave about what we are reading. Other people have book clubs, I have the internet.

GeekyRiks | 2 comments I love to read, but I want to blog not just because I want to write about books. I want a little corner on the internet to express my thoughts, whether anyone would ever read it or not.

message 55: by Jonel (new)

Jonel I love to curl up on the couch with a good book and lose myself within it's pages. Nothing is better than that escape from reality, a time when your imagination combines with the words on the page in front of you, which were put together by someone else's imagination, to create a whole new world. I also enjoy writing reviews on the books that I have read. I hope that my reviews help other people choose books that are to their liking so that they can enjoy their time while lost in their own books.

message 56: by Ruby Jo (new)

Ruby Jo (bookishlyruby) | 10 comments I started my blog mainly because none of my friends read the books I did and they were so reluctant to even touch a YA or urban fantasy book. (They do not know what they're missing, let me tell you). I also started my blog as a way to practice English, since I'm not a native speaker. Since then, I've met many people with similar tastes in books, made new friends in countries I never thought I'd have friends and increased my TBR mountain considerably (I'm not complaining that hard about that last part!)

message 57: by Haniya (new)

Haniya (itsmehaniya) Because I love sharing my opinions of books with others! :)

message 59: by [deleted user] (new)

Well let's see...none of my friends read so I can't talk to them. I would prefer to NOT talk to myself but sometimes thats unavoidable. Therefore, blogging is where I can post things that I can pretend people read!

It's genius...really.

Redd Kaiman (reddkaiman) | 12 comments I always wonder about authors I read. There's some books that are good, and you wonder what happened to the author afterword.

So, blogging is a way to keep in touch: http://reddkaiman.blogspot.com/2015/0...

message 62: by Theresa Ann (new)

Theresa Ann On the blogging book reviews side of things, I think I just got tired of reading reviews from the Millennial generation's point of view over and over. I felt there were not enough reviews from those of us in our 40's and even 50's.

As far as everything else, blogging lets me me say what I want and if I want, I can disable comments so that people can read my view. And if they don't like my opinion, they can pretty much suck it.

Then again, I can also open something up wide to whomever and allow people to comment. Since most people either like the sound of their own voices or, it makes them feel important to make sure everybody knows their opinion, I let them have that opportunity.

message 63: by Luxierre (new)

Luxierre 🎀💌🌷 I started blogging when I was 12 but that was more of a dear diary sort of blog that I actually regret putting on the internet.

That stopped but I started blogging again last year about a day in a life that became mostly beauty or makeup which I actually do have a passion for and then I suddenly mixed it all up with some stories or advice from what I do know and experience.

I think what I love most about blogging is that I get to create content that I know I would wanna know myself. And not gonna lie, I'm one of those people who suddenly has amnesia and forget what I do know so keeping track of that on my blog is a great life hack for me.

message 64: by Ruby Jo (new)

Ruby Jo (bookishlyruby) | 10 comments I started my blog because I wanted to talk to people who had similar reading tastes. In my group of friends I was the only one who loved the books I did and because they weren't considered "good literature" by most people, I always felt like I had to defend my reading choices. I actually did end up in some weird conversations because of what I enjoyed to read.

The second reason I wanted to start a blog was to help me practice my English. Since English isn't my first language and since there's little to no reason for me to speak it on a daily, I thought blogging would really help me exercise it daily or at least more frequently and it would be a good way to improve my grammar.

I keep blogging because I've met a bunch of great people through my blog, people that I call friends and that I enjoy talking to, who read the same books I do and who, to quote Lula Lovegood, are just as sane as I am.

message 65: by Arianna Mae (new)

Arianna Mae (ariannamae) | 8 comments I love to blog because I love to meet other people who are as passionate about books and music as I am. I also think it's a really wonderful way to globally address and discuss issues that are going on in the world that authors are choosing to represent in their literature. Blogging starts up a lot of important conversations, and that's why I love it.

message 66: by Book (new)

Book Wings (onthewingsofabook) | 7 comments Blogging organizes everything I love about the books I read. I feature quotes, synopsis, and author spotlights from the books I read. With my blog I'll be able to go back and read some of the quotes/excerpts even if I no longer have the book.

message 67: by Dena (new)

Dena McMurdie (batchofbooks) | 7 comments I started blogging so I could talk about the books I read and to meet other people that like reading as much as I do. My family and friends have never had the same passion for books, but blogging has allowed me to find people that do.

message 68: by Erin (new)

Erin (nahokuangelxo) | 52 comments I started blogging because I wanted to review the books I love to read. Also to meet other book bloggers as well.

Kara Skinner (Lover's Quarrel Reviews) | 17 comments I started blogging because I wanted another hobby that was related to reading books. I really enjoy it because I love giving good recommendations to other readers and just sharing my opinions on books. My family has already gotten tired of hearing about my rants/yodalike advice on books, so I needed another outlet and blogging is perfect for that.

Adri (adri97) | 17 comments After I read a book, I just really need to talk about it and gush. I've tried to do so with my friends and family, but no on is interested...
Blogging is a way for me to gush and share my love (or hate) of a book :)

message 72: by Lance (new)

Lance (sportsbookguy) Being a sports junkie in which I not only play and watch the games, but also love to read about them, I wanted to blog about the sports books I read. I have loved it because not only have I met many great people while blogging, but I haven't had to buy a book for a long time as more authors and publishers are noticing the blog. Free books are always good! :)

Since I'm an English Literature major it also serves as a portfolio of my writing :)

I smiled as I read this -- what a tough product of success! I'm joking, but that's awesome -- I'm sure your site will go places -- you've picked a fantastic literary niche :)

message 75: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 32 comments For me, blogging is a way to feel like a part of a bookish community. There aren't many avid readers where I live, so I've always felt a bit lonely when it comes to my love of words. Blogging is a fantastic outlet for that. Plus, there's no better way to find all the best new releases.

Also, since I started writing reviews, I've found that reviewing gets me closer to the book. It's a win-win, really.

message 76: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 11 comments I started to blog my reviews as a way of keeping track of what I've read. Sure GoodReads can do that but I found I read thousands of books that I couldn't remember anything about. The reviews help remind me what the books are about and how I felt about them. I like using my own blog because it feels more personal to me.

Hope (hope83) | 3 comments Let's see, why do I love to blog? For fun mostly. Oh and to keep a record of what's going on in my life at the time. I believe part of blogging is reading others blogs, I do that a lot.

Ronald Walker (lajuann) | 92 comments Hi again. I hope that everybody is doing well. Again, I’m kind of new to the group. From the e-mails that I received, I just want to conclude in this perspective. The acknowledgments of the insights for brighter tomorrows are inspiring, and over whelming. I’m an author who likes to acknowledge the perspectives evolving from various outlooks of inspiring, and rewarding visualizations. It appears to be coming from a lot of you. I can sit down, and read a big book, especially when it’s a good book. I try to write short books, some that’s inspiring, some that’s comical, some that’s easy reading, a lot that are series. My goal. I don’t want to take up too much of your time, but for time that I do take up, I hope that you could have a good time. My opinion, sometimes the quality of a good book is a book that broadens your arisen to the many appreciations of life, and gives you more of the time to apply yourself to them. If it also consists of the means of you wanting to inspiringly get into a bigger book, I know, very rewardingly, I’ve done my job, and then, for the hopes of love, and joy, I can continually do more. And Now to let you know why I feel that interwind with "Introduce Yourself!", and “Why Do We Love To Blog???” In my opinion, it gives us more of the means to continually express our view, and appreciations, and to enhance others.

P.S.
Wew! Now I could start giving shorter versions of perspectives.

message 79: by Tyler (new)

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) I like to have a place for all my thoughts on the books I read, so I can go back and look at them. I like to be able to gather my thoughts and work on getting better talking about them...or writing about them as the case may be.

I love to read and love to talk with others who also love to read. To learn about new books to read and talk about ones already read, and other bookish things.

message 84: by Cass (new)

Cass Winters (cassgwinters) I found that I felt like I didn't have a voice to express my opinions. I find that book blogging allows me to express myself and my love for books. It allows me to talk about diverse topics, conversations, and find people that are somewhat like me in the reading community. I am learning that book blogging helps me to be my most authentic self, which I think is really important.

message 85: by MJ (new)

MJ James (bookrecluse) I think like most of you I blog because I love books. My blog is a way of organizing them and remembering what I have read. It is like a journal of my reading pursuits. It also helps me to branch outside my everyday reading habits. I started blogging about reading Amazon's 100 Books to Read in a Lifetime, and it has gone from there. Also, it is a way to connect with others. Reading is pretty solitary, blogging unites it into a community. www.thebookreclusereview.com

message 86: by Rita (new)

Rita (bookishr) | 107 comments I love blogging because the community is absolutely fantastic. I have made some blogger friends and want to keep meeting new people. I am always so inspired by my fellow bookworms!

I also love talking about my favorite (and least favorite) books. I really like seeing if my opinions are the same as those of my peers. It's also such a great way to find out about new books, newby authors, and upcoming book-to-movie adaptations.

It has also really developed my passion for writing and my skills keep improving with each passing day. It's a great way to get stuff out of my head and to keep entertained 😊

Since I started Bookish Rita I have grown a lot as a person and a writer, and I plan on keeping up with blogging!

Paige (paigealb) Hello everyone, I'm Paige. I actually had a question here!

I'm just wondering how everyone finds book blogging? Do you do it for fun? Are you trying to make a business out of it? Was it harder than you though? More time consuming?

I'm thinking of starting one but I've always been hung up on the fact that I like READING so much, I don't know if I would love book blogging AS much or have enough time to dedicate to it.

Thanks everyone!

Chris Breedlove) (chrisstevenson) | 53 comments I love to inform. Sometimes I preach. But Guerrilla Warfare for Writers is pro writer, harsh, realistic and brutal sometimes. I'm an advocate for the writer/author crowd, teaching them about the pitfalls and depressions that are to be found in the publishing industry and how to avoid them. I call it special weapons and tactics. This is a training manual. Buckle your seat belt and put your tray forward. We're headed for some turbulence.

Hi Paige! I started book blogging in middle school after my sister found an online magazine written by teens for teens looking for book reviewers. Now, I run a romance blog called Lover's Quarrel, which I also use to raise money for Trees for the Future through affiliate links and fundraising. I do hope to make a business out of it one day but right now don't make enough to even be called a side hustle (luckily you don't have to donate much to TREES for it to make an impact haha).

Having a blog is really time consuming and it can make reading more stressful. I find myself writing the book review in my head while reading instead of just enjoying the book. If you're thinking about starting a book blog, then I suggest writing a few articles on a site like HubPages or Medium first, to see if you care for it before you take the time to develop a blog.

Paperwitches ♡ | 18 comments I originally started blogging just because I would annotate and write my own reviews for fun, but never publish them anywhere - they were just for my own entertainment. My cousin and dad convinced me to start posting them, and then I found out about Goodreads and Netgalley randomly through a Youtube video. At that point, I decided to post on my Goodreads only but when I started getting approved for more Netgalleys and getting offered physical arcs I decided to make The Paper Blog! I love just writings them now, it's therapeutic.
