VA, there is no competition here. More fighting, better friends and enemies. Better everything. Twilight has a boring plot, heroine and hero. I read the first 3 books of Twilight (struggling along to read more), but with Vampire Academy each book made me hungry for more and dreading the end of the book and the wait for the next. As for Twilight, I couldn't wait enough for it to end.

I agree that VA has more action and whatever, and Bella is a mary-sue, but as far as Rose being a tough lead character...yes, she is, but she is also a total bitch. I'm sorry, but she is. Who would I say is the perfect tough female lead? Katniss.

And the story is so so so much better than Twilight. For me, Twilight is kind of so serious and focuses too much on romance, ughh.

I've been lsitening to VA again on my kindle. For me one of the things that makes it better is that strigoi are just bad, no angst, no constant worrying about stuff. They make the whole thing more active than twilight.

I love vampire academy was just as hooked when I Read the twilight books I love the characters in the book and the fact that while you read it you just want more and more , I had the same with the twilight books.

i think the main think is that the story of VA is flat out better. you can cut all the rest out, the character and whatever. VA just has a better story

They're too different! I loved Twilight, at least the first 3 times I've read all the 4 books. But after a while you just start being nauseous, you know... I enjoyed Vampire Academy as well, but I can't say one was better than the other. Right now I wouldn't choose neither of them.

Aside from the fact that I think Richelle Mead is a better writer than Stephenie Meyer, I find the VA books to be much more engaging than the Twilight books. I like the way Mead explored and developed her vampire mythology in the VA universe, too...it struck me as much more detailed and in-depth as in the Twilight books.
