I haven't heard of this happening before, but if you've had your nook for less than a year or have the extended warranty, then you dont have to go back to the store.you can just call the nook 1-800 number thingy and they'll send you a replacement in the mail.

I bought the best buy 2 year warranty (including accidental breakage). I think I'm locked into this retail situation.
Thanks for the suggestion
well the 1 year manufacturer warranty that comes with every nook is valid no matter if you bought it b&n, walmart, best buy, or anywhere else that sells nook. you can always call that 1800 # within the first year. even if you purchased an extended warranty
Chuck, let us know how it goes. It sucks that this is your second and you still had problems. I had the same thing happen to me for my Nintendo DS (third time might be the charm).
I returned the unit to Best Buy. The person at the customer service desk thought it likely that either the USB charging unit or possibly the cable was defective. . she got a low battery message (despite that I had left the unit plugged in overnight). They gave me my 2nd replacement unit. She said that multiple returns were rare and when they happened they were always different issues.
Hi Chuck,Not sure if this helps at all, but my USB cord was bad for my NOOK Color. I called NC customer service (they suck) but they did UPS me another one in 3 days and I was able to charge my NC and turn it on. I didn't have to do anything with the bad one either.
Just a thought

This is the second unit I've had . .the first one had the gravity sensor fail.
I'm hoping there is a simple fix. I live a distance from the store . . another return will be a pain.
