Dylan (dmfriend26) I was wondering if I should read Marked by P.C. Cast. Because I see it all the time, and it looks good. So should I read it?

message 2: by Brynn (new)

Brynn | 14 comments YES I would definitely recommend it! I love that series. It's pretty different from Twilight but it's still veryyyyy good!

message 3: by Maryann (new)

Maryann (uorgirl) | 35 comments I TOTALLY AGREE! THE HOUSE OF NIGHT SERIES IS SO GOOD, BUT, OF COURSE, CANNOT TOP TWILIGHT. THEY ARE GREAT STORIES!

message 4: by Dylan (last edited Feb 25, 2009 02:37AM) (new)

Dylan (dmfriend26) Thanks, I'll get it. Now another question, should I buy New Moon first or Marked? I'm not done with Twilight yet so keep that in mind. :D

message 5: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellerobins) ummmm...depends on how fast you read, actually.

message 6: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 5 comments I would buy marked first. I read it and it was really goo, but it didn't take me that long to read. And I'm a pretty slow reader.

message 7: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) I agree, read Marked first. You don't want to read New Moon without finishing Twilight and Marked is a series as well with Betrayed and Chosen after the first. :)

message 8: by Dylan (new)

Dylan (dmfriend26) Cool, I'll do that. What about the vampire diaries, is that any good? Another one is Night World by L.J. Smith. Is that good?

message 9: by Daisy (new)

Daisy AMAZING I LOVED THEM!

message 10: by Dylan (new)

Dylan (dmfriend26) Yeah, but what about Night World? That one looks very good. :D

message 11: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellerobins) im reading that right now!!!

and the vampire diaries are AMAZING!!

message 12: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (catfanatic) What are the names of the Vampire Diaries books?
And I'm gonna read the Vampire Kisses series and the Marked series.

message 13: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellerobins) the vampire diaries are the awakening and the struggle, and the fury and the dark reunion.

message 14: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (catfanatic) there's only two?!?!

message 15: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellerobins) four, but the current ones have two books bound in one. confusing, i know.

message 16: by Mccaul (new)

Mccaul (ryanmccaul) Oh My Gosh! I'm only on page 73 of Marked and I love it! It's got some swear words, and it's a lot more inappropriate then Twilight, (if you could call Twilight that) but it's AWESOME!

message 17: by Dylan (new)

Dylan (dmfriend26) O.k. I'll start after I'm done with these series: Twilight, Eragon, The Belgariad, & Harry Potter.

message 18: by Kermit (last edited Feb 25, 2009 03:51AM) (new)

Kermit Hi!
New to the board but saw that you were wondering if you should read Marked. ABSOLUTELY! I just finished the fourth book in the series, Untamed, and it was fantastic. The fifth book comes out in March. Grr....

Another book I've been recommending to anyone who will listen is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It is not about vampires but it is soooo good!

message 19: by Julia (new)

Julia B (juliayb) marked is good, but the author spends too much time reminding you about how amazing Zoe is, it gets tiring.

message 20: by Mccaul (new)

Mccaul (ryanmccaul) Yeah, it bugs me how in every book it reminds you at least twice of everything that has already happend. I started the series last week. I just barely started the fourth book of the HOUSE OF NIGHT series! It's AMAZING! I want to know if Erik ****SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!**** comes back! It's eeating me alive!

message 21: by Luna Jasper Jay (new)

Luna Jasper Jay Nightingale Hale (LunaJasperJayN-H) | 59 comments The house of Night series is good (ive only read to chosen though). Night world is also good, though it's quite annoying the fact it starts the storyline of the saving the world thing but then there's no more books. Though i do believe strange fate [the next book:] is out sometime soon.

I also would like to suggust a series im reading at the min. The undead series. In my opinion, the 1st book is Undead & Unwed. Well, Elizabeth "besty" taylor (soz rushing need to watch news) and she dies. But wakes up in a morgue to work out she is a vampire. She tries to live her life as if she never died, but that is harder than it seems when your a bit different then your normal vampire...

{soz if my review is pants. I don't review much... :) }

I enjoyed the series although Zoey would get on my bloody nerves at times!

message 23: by Bekah (new)

Bekah Denton (bekah_) | 12 comments Im i the only one who doesnt like this series?
I have to say i quite liked the first 3 books, but then, after reading a few more, i started to really dislike zoey, the protagonist, i think shes a bit of a hypocrite among other things. (im not saying much incase you read it)i really would not read this series and i can tell you i will not be buying anymore in this series. I you are going to read this series then borrow it from the libary.

However the Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead vampire academy series is really good and has the same theme. Id say its as good as twilight.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

It is an amazing book like all these ppl said please read it i highly reccomend it,.

message 27: by Adelheid (new)

Adelheid (thecelticmyst) I would have to say... no. Don't read it. From the reports I have, it seems that series has jumped the shark. Plus, Zoey is turning into a bit of a MarySue.
I agree with Bekah. Go read the Vampire Academy instead. The latest book in that series came out just last Tuesday. My biggest complaint is that they keep ending on cliff hangers and I want to know what happens next so badly that I am buying them in hardback on the release dates.

message 28: by Stefani (new)

Stefani | 18 comments I read Marked and I really wanted to like it but I couldn't. I hated every character in the book. They weren't remotely believeable, interesting or relatable, in my opinion. I felt like it was very predictable, too. Also, it seemed like the writers were trying way too hard to sound "teen" and I thought some parts sounded incredibly stupid. I managed to finish it but decided not to read any more books in the series. It doesn't compare to Twilight.

message 29: by Adelheid (new)

Adelheid (thecelticmyst) I also found something interesting about Marked and wondered if it was just me. I know there are two authors, but it almost seemed like one was talented and the other was not. There was a distinctly different voice in one scene to the next.
Might I also suggest Kelley Armstrong's Young Adult Trilogy? Its in the same universe as her Women of the Other World series.

message 30: by Rae (new)

What is a MarySue?

message 34: by Adelheid (new)

Adelheid (thecelticmyst) A MarySue refers to a character whom the entire universe must revolve around and the author favors too highly. Men want them, women envy them (or the opposite for a male character). They often are a little too exceptional. They tend to have strange, unexplained powers which expand at need, as they can never have other characters rescue them and be the hero, etc.
