Looks like that's because she edited the previous edition, and editions can only be combined if the have the same author listed first. I added Mick Woodley as editor for that edition, but he's in the second position.

Many thanks. I understand what you say. I now see that academic books such as this; which can rapidly go through a number of editions, will always possess a capability to spring this type of surprise!
When creating a record for "My Funniest Story" (1932, fiction, pre-ISBN), which is an anthology of short stories, I listed all authors in order per the 'contents'list printed in the book; because no editor was stated. WorldCat lists additional editions of 1935 and 1948; but without indication as to whether these later editions contain works by authors different to that publ. in 1932. To date, I seem to be the only Goodreads member who has recorded this book. I may never find anyone else who has read it.
Maybe the Goodreads edition combining rule might someday, be improved by prioritising title, publisher, & place of publication ahead of editor and author(s)? One would probably additionally want to discriminate between books with and without an ISBN-13. However, from my past experience of managing scientific information databases I know full well that retrospective structural data label changes are not always feasible.
Best wishes

The Goodreads edition record states the author's name as being Sheila Bone. My copy (10th edition) states "Edited by Mick Woodley". Ms Bone is listed only in smaller type as one of twelve contributors.
Can you please revise the edition record to reflect that?
A similar issue may arise across later editions. However I haven't looked.
