stormhawk | 1184 comments Or working. Or doing something responsible.

I crochet. I am currently on a crochet kick.

This week I have finished a scarf, a triangle shawl, and a hippie supermarket carry bag. I am currently working on a crocheted book cover. And avoiding working on a sweater (kangaroo hoody for myself) and the neverending blanket project (which is a blanket I've been knitting for the past twenty years. Damn that's embarassing. I should just get the darn thing out of the closet and finish it, except that I don't like knitting all that much).

I've just realized that I should be taking pictures, but I've wrapped two of these as gifts already ... darn. I should probably bust open the wrapping paper to do this.

Tabitha (tabrock) | 13 comments First I have been wanting to learn to crochet for some time now. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I work in the Knit department for a fashion company.

When I am not working or reading or cooking/cleaning/being a wife lol...I am either bowling, watching TV, or spending time with my goddaughter.

Bowling is pretty high on that list. I am a league bowler and do it twice a week from Sept-May.

Lisa | 617 comments I currently am working full time, in grad school part time and spend most of my free time doing homework or planning a wedding, BUT for fun I do try to get to a dance class once or twice a week!

message 4: by Michelle (last edited May 13, 2011 11:09PM) (new)

Michelle (shadowrose) When I'm not reading or busy you can usually find me playing my Xbox 360. I don't really have much in the way of hobbies due to the lack of talent (lol) so I stick with what I know. Oh and I write some too but I can never come up with a storyline that I want to continue once I start

message 5: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (pg4003) | 148 comments I spend a LOT of time sewing. I have a little Etsy shop where I sell handmade purses and all kinds of little bags and carriers for ereaders. I also care for my 2 year old granddaughter for 3 days each week and my 7 year old grandson every day after school.

Valerie | 266 comments When I have free time... I either watch TV, read, take photos, scrapbook (not much lately... need to fix that!)... and sometimes I'm taking care of my little 3 yr. old grandson :)

message 7: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) I crochet too, but I learned knitting (self taught through youtube) a few months ago so I've been concentrating on making dishcloths as practice. I'm currently working on knitting up a purse though. It'll be my first project knitted in the round.

I also do embroidery, but I haven't touched it in awhile.

I'm a TV watcher too so sometimes I knit and watch TV or catch up on DVDs. Now that the weather is finally getting warmer I've started exercising outside too.

What's the name of your Etsy shop?

message 9: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (pg4003) | 148 comments Here it is, Jackie: http://www.etsy.com/shop/pg4003

I only have 10 items listed, but I make custom bags for the Kindle, Nook, Sony or whatever, any size ereader with a cover or not. I also make purses. I have lots of different fabrics, including some Vera Bradley fabrics.

I respect you.

I am hopeless at bowling.

So hopeless that I have difficulty breaking 100 even on Wii bowling.

Hmmm... Well, it depends on the time of year! lol Currently, I either write, read, spend time with my Dad or Hubby, help my friend plan her wedding, Watch Tv, and... surf the internet. I also write a lot of emails. lol Surprisingly, I have a couple of "email buddies". lol

message 12: by sonya (new)

Wow, you're so talented. I love what you have listed. I have a friend who was looking for an ereader cover big enough for both the ereader and cover she's already purchased. I'll make sure to pass along your link. Thanks!

message 14: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (pg4003) | 148 comments Thanks Jackie! I've made a lot of covers geared personally toward the owner, I buy fabric to make something they request. I've made covers from fabric with seashells, red hat ladies, dolphins, lots of different things.

message 15: by Arch (new)

Arch | 870 comments I'm a writer, not author. So, I love to write and that's what I do when I am not reading, amongst other things. Lately books haven't been grabbing me. I'm waiting to start reading a "I can't put this book down" book.

Haha thanks! I been doing it for about 9 years now and I just shot my first perfect game (300) last year.

message 17: by Helen (new)

Helen Well most of my waking hours consist of the bus journeys and work, that covers 7am-6.10pm. Then I clean, cook, chat to you lot while I watch TV. Then bed, with a book before sleep.

message 18: by Tamara (new)

Tamara (tcornelsen) | 20 comments All the housework I spent the last 16-hour-reading-marathon avoiding! ;-P

message 19: by Elvia (new)

Elvia (elvb) Let's see...From 6:30am until usually 7pm, I'm busy with kids and work and driving to and from. After 7pm, I might get online (FB, here, Twitter, MFP) to see what other people are doing in their productive lives. Otherwise, I'm reading. Or watching the Red Sox if they're on tv (like now). lol

Trying to sleep. lol I have insomnia so I LOVE sleep, but rarely get much.

message 23: by Anne (new)

Anne | 9 comments Watch movies with my husband, play with our dogs, or watch mindless television, cook. Cooking is so relaxing.

message 24: by Readingcureall (new)

Readingcureall | 9 comments I have kids and animals I care for. Clean lots of cleaning. Home school 4 kids. Mow the lawn , shop, try to stay fit, and go to church. I also mentor to troubled teens.

message 25: by stormhawk (new)

stormhawk | 1184 comments More crochet. Two more hippie market bags (different patterns), an openwork scarf, a cat toy, and a carrier for a set of reusable tableware to avoid plastics. I am also working on plans to sew a pouch for the same purpose.

And in the meantime, I did some repairs on a stuffed chihuahua belong to my friend's daughter.

message 26: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (shadowrose) Well now it seems I'll be puppy training and the like for while when I'm not reading. I just got a new puppy, her name is Leia (like Princess Leia from Star Wars, our other dog is name Chewbacca so...yeah, lol). She's a boxer/lab mix, and has a fair physical combination of both. I can already tell she's going to fairly headstrong though, so training is going to happen soon.

I posted a few pictures on my blog if you wish to see. Here is the shortlink - http://wp.me/pXYkv-5Q

Cute puppy.

message 28: by Clara (new)

Clara | 11 comments I mostly spend a lot of time on Goodreads. I mean too much time. I play with my cats and watch lots of Sex and the City.

message 29: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (shadowrose) Thank you Clara. She's a little sick right now but she's working through thankfully. We found out she's only 3 months old, so she's probably going to be huge when she's full grown.

Cate (The Professional Fangirl) (chaostheory08) | 199 comments I watch TV shows. I'm in the middle of a Mythbusters marathon. I also write stuff. :)

message 31: by stormhawk (new)

stormhawk | 1184 comments I should be writing. That's what my friends tell me. I have a couple ideas kicking around in my head, including at least one self-help book, an ethics book, a fantasy novel, and an adventure novel ... but I have longstanding issues with getting the words out of my head and onto paper.

In the meantime ... I don't know what made me do this, but I got the idea in my head earlier this week that I had to learn to play Bodhran. I bought one 10 years ago at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire (for $20) and stuck it in the top of a closet and never did anything with it because I didn't have the vaguest clue of what to do with the tipper ... I have several frame drums and have played those at a variety of events and drum circles, but just left the bodhran alone.

I couldn't find any bodhran instructors in my area.

But now there's youtube ...

I've got some of the basics conquered, and just need to keep practicing and try to get my speed up.

So far it has provided me more than $20 worth of entertainment.

message 32: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) You mean theres life outside reading???? Shocking! lol. When I'm not working or reading, I like to watch TV or watch movies w/ my son. We even discovered streaming our Netflix from his Playstation 3....love it! Instant stuff! :)

message 33: by Poppy (new)

Poppy I write (journal and a commonplace book), go for walks, spend time with my partner and our cats, visit friends and family, cook, work a day job, take pictures, make jewelry, digi-scrap, and browse the internet. If I had extra time, I'd take up quilting, learn to draw, buy and learn to play a bodhran (envious of you, Stormhawk!), write for publication, and/or up my photography into a side business.

message 34: by Kristin (new)

Kristin when I'm....not reading? I'm not sure I understand the question.

Okay, all joking aside... I've finished a masters degree but I haven't got a job yet. Thinking of trying freelance writing in the meanwhile, but it's a bit intimidating :S Otherwise I rock at starting crafts projects and such and not finishing them.

Me too. It never looks anywhere near as good on me as it does on the lady in the clip. Have you checked out Keiko Lynn?

message 37: by Nada (new)

Nada Al-Karmi (nadooush) i love watching hairstyle tutorials on YouTube
i also enjoy watching TV. (movies & series), playing with my pet dog, drawing, hanging out with friends & sleeping ;p

message 38: by Keryl (new)

Keryl Raist (kerylraist) | 66 comments Well, when I'm not reading, writing, or momming, I've been known to spend time watching TV. (Burn Notice and Eureka these days.) If I'm feeling really girly I watch make-up tutorials or go to the store and pet the make-up. And sometimes, when the stars align properly, I go out to lunch and eat more chocolate goodness than I strictly need.

message 39: by Kerri (new)

Kerri (kerrimcbooknerd) When I'm not reading or working (or reading at work), I can be found watching TV/movies with my mini-me, taking said mini-me to the park, cooking, visiting our local Y, surfing the interwebs, or sleeping, lol. I think my 4 year old saps all my energy cause she seems to have endless quantities of it...

message 40: by stormhawk (new)

stormhawk | 1184 comments They have endless quantities of energy because they suck it directly out of you.

They are parasites that we love.

Just like flowers are weeds that we like.

My favorites are: pinkiecharm (for reviews), emilynoel82, bubzbeauty

True words, right there. It gives a whole different explanation as to why I woke up with her in my bed this morning. She was having an early morning energy snack!

message 43: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair When I am not reading. I am either out with my dogs in the new forest. It is the only time I get to do some photography. And if not walking my dogs I am taking care of one or two of my TEN nieces and nephews or training. Work, reading, family & training seem to take up every moment of my day.

message 44: by Helen (new)

Helen So I'm guessing we all like reading, chocolate goodness, TV and sleeping. With a theoretical liking for work, craft, family and being active!

message 45: by J.D. (new)

J.D. Stroube | 2393 comments Mod
Lately, when I'm not reading I am writing, editing, or helping a friend with her wedding stuff.

message 46: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (bookishevents) Lately I feel like all I do other than read is work on my blog and my social networking for my blog. I'll be so happy when I can get a system down where it doesn't monopolize my time, but with it being so new it takes so much time to get established. Hopefully once the kids are on visitation I can read up a bunch of books ahead, have the posts schedule and not feel like I'm trying to read on a deadline so that the people who do happen by my blog don't think I've lost interest.

message 47: by Mawgojzeta (new)

Mawgojzeta When I am not reading I like to watch movies (especially track down foreign or obscure movies).

I also play computer games, especially love puzzle-style or simulation-style. Lately I have been finding some older games and revisiting them (such as Ice Wind Dale, Theme Hospital, and Myst).

In the summer I fish and garden a bit.

I just finished Oblivion about a week ago :) It was awesome, but I think I put 80+ hours into it. Can't wait til Skyrim comes out.

message 50: by Mawgojzeta (new)

Mawgojzeta Michelle: I just looked up Oblivion. That series of games looks excellent! Would I want to start from the beginning?

I recently finished Portal 2 (after just playing Portal for the first time this January). Really enjoyed that. Going to replay both of them this fall.
