I suppose my interest in literature is what makes me a geek/nerd, really - I've always read a lot and like to write my own stuff too, mainly scripts and short prose, which aren't popular hobbies amongst most people I know!
Plus, I've always tried my hardest in my studies, got fairly decent grades and contributed in class, which gets you labelled as a nerd from the start (not that I care - I'd rather do well than be popular.)
I'm not a follower of soap operas, TV dramas, celebrity culture or fashion, so not many people I know can relate to me.
Yet, I have found a few friends (true friends, really) with similiar interests, and we wear the "geek/nerd" tag with pride.
I'm with you there, Hannah...I read sooo much as a kid because we didn't have a TV and I used to write book reports for fun. Life gets in the way of me reading as much as I would like to now, but I always have a book going.

I LOVE to read..read...read!!!
I am a nerd and proud of it!

I guess I'm a little more of a geek, being obsessed with geek culture, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, comics (and comic adaptations) and the like. My friends think I'm a supreme dork because I love love love my sci-fi shows like Stargate, Star Trek, Star Wars (see where this is going?) and my boyfriend and I constantly reference lines from these and other favourite shows. AND we're planning on getting married on Pi Day in 2015!
Also, I always carry a book around with me in a sling bag, for those reading emergencies, or, as a last resort, read e-books I've downloaded to my phone ...

Yes! How awesome would that be? I lust after Louis L'Amour's collection; he had to have special reinforcing built, and a double-layer of shelves, because he had over 20 000 books at one time.
