movie casting yay or nay
NAY! but you cant expect a low budgent company to afford top, famous actors and actresses. I really dont like the pick for Gale (TEAM GALE!!!). I always thought that Alex Pettyfer would be great for Peeta
on mockingjay.net, they have the cast for all the tributes, Cinna, Octavia and Venia, as well as Flavius, Claudius, Seneca, and Haymitch. Also Snow.

So far Ive seen Katniss,Peeta and gale.
SC had no input in the casting, although she's said she's happy with it. So I guess if the author's happy, we have to be too. But still, Lenny Kravitz?!
I just checked out the casting list for the first time, I like it.Sure they will have to do some superficial altering- hair dye, tanning, etc. but I think the cast is a good one. I LOVE Woody Harrelson for Haymitch and Donald Sutherland as Pres Snow!
I never saw Peeta as a super hotty. To Katniss all those years b4 the hunger games he was just one of the upper crust in the district. His family had a shop and he was taken care of. So I think they got it right with a good looking boy next door and not mysterious steamy sex symbol...

When I read the book I always pictured Scottish actor Brian Cox as Haymitch.As for Lenny Kravitz, I like him, but when he's on screen, I'll just think 'Oh, it's Lenny Kravitz' and expect him to break into 'Are you gonna go my way' at any second during the movie.
Exactly! My mom is a big fan, and we have his greatest hits CD, so I expect him to make a cameo for one of his songs while doing Katniss's hair. To which I will scream at him through the screen.

Here's a random one for Katniss: what about Hanna Stanbridge from excellent low-budget horror flick Outcast. Remember, people from the seam are supposed to be dark and olive-skinned. She'd be perfect.
I hate the Katniss/Peeta/Gale castings. I don't really care about the rest. The only casting I actually kinda like is Cinna.

Oh yeahhhhh. I was sooo mad when Josh Hutcherson had been cast. So when ALex Pettyfer didn't get cast for hunger games, I hoped he would be in City of Bones. Wrong again. I'm hoping Hollywood will make some magic to lift me up here. Katniss and Gale are fine. But Liam is too soft for Gale.
I actually like the casting. I think they could have done better on Gale and I always imagined Peeta as a Blond but thats just me. I like who they casted as Katniss and for the rest of the cast, like cinnna and haymitch, I think they totally nailed it.
Nay... Bleh, looks like I won't be watching this movie...

I agree completely with this. A lot of work will be needed to mold them into the characters they need to be. I hope it will be good because I really would like this movie to do the book justice, it is such a good book! I love it.
I am very happy with Katniss. Was a bit dubious when I saw she looked like a blonde bibo, but the photo on the cover of enteratinment weekly was great. To be honest, I feel as though (looks wise) Katniss is a really easy person to cast. It doesnt specify that she is amazingly beautiful, like Rosalie (Twilight) or Jace (The Mortal Instruments). Suzanne Collins doesnt really go into specifics: brown hair, usually plaited, slim, grey eyes. Hopefully she can act.The boys Im a little worried about but Ill just wait for the movie to see if they can sway me

All is good except for Peeta. I really didn't imagine him like that. I hope he'll surprise me.
They got Gale and Katniss perfect! But Peeta......maybe the actor will surprise us

When I read these books, I pictured Jeff Bridges as Haymitch, especially since I read these after watching "True Grit."

I liked the cast for Caesar and Katniss!! But the ones chosen for Gale and Peeta are a DISASTER!!!
I only think the girl they cast as Katniss fits my picture of her... not incredibly happy with Josh and Liam :P
Not at all how i pictured the characters while reading... I hope they do pull it off though, but the book will always better~ :D

Oh yha! I liked him in The Journey To... Alex? Really? Hmmmmm... I'd rather have Hutcherson than Alex. I'd rather have some other characters but I'm not really upset about the casting.

the clothing looks too perfect and good; like the costume people forgot these were kids who grown up in a third world territory. I wonder about music for the moview, every time I hear "dog days are over" by Florence and the machine,I think it would be perfect for at least some of the scenes in the movie. I can't wait! and yet I'm dreading the movie at the same time. and yeah, Pettyfer would have been perfect for Peeta, and Gale is dark

I thought the cast was fine, but you guys say no, you've read it, I haven't, i guess i should read the books before I agree to them right? I honestly just thought all of them looked good! lol but if you replace whoever peeta is with that guy from the picture that @smetchie has up there then hey, I'm ok with that too:)
Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth are good as Katniss and Gale, but i dont think Josh Hutcherson as Peeta works. I sort of imagined Peeta looking different in my head :/
I saw Jennifer blonde and Josh with brown hair.WHY??They're switching the hair.I could live with Jennifer as Katniss but Josh culdve been Gale and reaallly think Alex Pettyfer cud do Peeta.He's just too strong. I have a pic of him skinnier and with not so huge muscles.And as for Gale,ah okay, he's not awful nor is he perfect but nobody's perfect,right?What bugs me is that my teacher and my bestie read THG too so they tell me every now and then-you know you look alot like katniss-I have a habit of braiding my hair too so...Plus my sister says that my normal behavior is ALSO like her and I'm apparently a really good actress so alot of people look at me like that.-_________________-weird and really sad.=(=S
Katniss - just fine. she's really beatiful and I think she can be perfect for the role.Peeta - oooh he's just perfect and amazing!! Josh Hutcherson is fits the role. (Alex Pettyfer would been okay though but I find him tougher and knows more than Peeta does, I would like him to be Finnick though.)
Gale - *totally speechless* I don't really know he seems fine but I don't know... Someone could be better for the role.
Prim - Just perfect, innocent child and very prettah!
Effie - I know its weird saying this but I totally find her beautiful hahaha :)
Rue- Awww she is so cute just what I would have imagined Rue to be.

I hope that the actors they have chosen will be able to do a great job at protraying what will proabably be known as a classic in the future like Orwell's 1984. I feel like they have a few good apples and a few bad ones. I'm afraid that one of my most favorite books is going to be let down by a movie that couldn't live up to its expecations. So all we can really do is sit back, cross our fingers, and pray that everything will be okay.

I think the casting was great! IDK why everyone is complaining, seriously! Katniss, is little known and looks the part (and is NOT KIRSTEN STEWART THANK GOD!) And Josh for Peeta HECK YES! I know everyone is all Alex P. these day, but Peeta was never really portrayed as being uber sexy in the books, he's way more cute guy next door. (Thus Josh fits better), and okay Liam for Gale ( I'm kind of on the fence about this one), but I'm going to give him a chance for it. I mean he can't be THAT bad, he's a cutie!

They are going to dye her hair, it will be fine. She looks really good with dark hair, and she's an awesome actress! I think she'll do well.
I'm not worried because of Jennifer Lawrence but the others, eh, not so good. And the thing that bugs me is that there is no Madge, Prim is the one that give the pin to Katniss

My sentiments exactly. This is making me excited for the movie. I know some are still complaining abt the casting which may influence their feelings towards the movie but w/e, it doesn't matter. I'll simply see what we can get. I trust Suzanne Collins did a fine job with the casting+script
