movie casting yay or nay
OK with GaleHopeful but shocked with Peeta
Actually pretty happy with Katniss
A lot of work will be needed to make these actors work but I'm willing to give them a chance. There are some issues with age and how tough they all look but I think it will work...maybe:)
I hate Liam Hemsworth, as Gale i mean, i dont mind him personally, but he is just not what i expected Gale to look like at all.
I pictured Alex Pettyfer for Peeta...then again, I'm no casting agent!
Katniss- Very happy, I re-watched Winters Bones yesterday and she is a very good actress and you can see bits of Katniss when she is skinning the squirrel and taking care of her brother and sister in the movie.Peeta- Meh he looks more Boy next door then I thought he would. But I guess he's ok....
Gale- Liam is too cute! I thought Gale would be more rugged and outdoorsy Liam looks too abercrombie in my opinion.
Liam looks like a giant tool
Maybe they will do some on screen magic, though.

I am so-so on Katniss. Very happy with Josh Hutcherson as Peeta since he is how I pictured Peeta (minus the dark hair, of course). Disappointed in Hemsworth as Gale. I pictured Gale as looking much more like Alex Pettyfer, so I would have cast Pettyfer for that role.

I think they've gotten a little crazy with the casting. They could have done so much better
Okay so for the casting of Hunger Games..I think the cast is okay...but I do not see Liam Hemsworth as Gale..I just don't.

I absolutely adore Josh Hutcherson... but I would never have thought to cast him as Peeta. Liam Hemsworth also does not look at all how I pictured Gale.
But I didn't picture Robert Pattinson as Edward either and I think it worked out just fine. I'm willing to give them all a chance.
im hoping that with make-up, hair dyes and contacts Josh, Liam and Jennifer will at least resemble Peeta, Gale and Katniss. Josh and Jennifer are good actors so im not that worried; not a huge fan of Liam though...Im just waiting to see what they do with it...havent lost all hope yet
After seeing Winter's Bone there is no doubt in my mind that Jennifer Lawrence is Katniss. All she needs is a little hair dye and good to go. I like the casting of Woody Harrelson as Haymitch. I think he will be perfect.

You all have to remember - Peeta is not SUPPOSED to be super handsome or amazing. He IS supposed to be more average, boy next door. I can sort of see why they cast who they did. As for Gale however, that's a totally different story. I imagined him being dark haired and very sexy. The guy they cast - IS NOT!!!!

Yes, but it doesn't mean she sings beautifully. The more imperfection, the better.
I really like Haymitch and Rue. The rest I'm not sure about. I guess Prim and Caesar are okay... But I can't judge until I see the movie. Makeup and other things can do wonders. As long is their acting is good and reflects the characters in the book then I think it will be okay :)

I also think that Liam Hemsworth was a suprising choiceas Gale. I didn't picture someone like him at all when I read the books. I sure hope they see something in him that we are all missing. I am really excited by their choice of "Woody Harrelson" as Haymitch though. I think he will be pretty convincing in the role.
Josh as Peeta. Seriously? Though I like Josh. I just don't like him for Peeta's part. And I cant see him as a blonde.

I'm more concerned with acting ability than how they look--Hollywood can alter looks a ton. Jennifer Lawrence was amazing in Winter's Bone--and tough, in a similar way I picture Katniss to be. I think she can pull it off.I agree that they're all a little old, but someone suggested it was to get around the short working days they're stuck with for actors under the age of 18. I hope the actors don't look *too* old though--it will dim the horror of children fighting in the Arena if they do.
I'm happy with all the castings, except Gale. And I have my doubts about Haymitch and Peeta. Let's start with the doubts.1. Haymitch: I've never seen Woody Harrelson act, so that's the doubt. I'm going to watch The Messenger after my finals, though.
2. Peeta: It's not that he's not blond or anything. I saw him in The Kids Are All Right and he was pretty good in his small role. The thing is, Mockingjay. If THG is a hit, and they manage to do Mockingjay... Will he have the emotional acting range to do it? I know, he'll be older... But still, I don't know if he will (at least) do justice in Mockingjay and some scenes in the other two books.
3. Gale: I've only seen him in The Last Song (I don't remember him in Knowing), and maybe it was Miley Cyrus's acting that influenced him. The point is, he wasn't that good in TLS.
I look at his casting this way: The fans are Career tributes. Liam is Katniss. Gale is the eleven. So... The Career tributes want to know how Katniss got the eleven. Rough translation: The fans want to know how Liam got Gale. I'm not sure about you guys, but I would love to see Liam Hemsworth's audition (Josh Hutcherson's wouldn't hurt...).
You know, I have mild worries about Woody Harrelson's range, too. Not that I don't enjoy some of his movies...but often, I find his portrayals as slightly campy...even in No Country for Old Men. And Haymitch is supposed to be super clever, and I rarely get that from the characters Woody plays So I'm going to have to reserve judgement.

Peeta: Body shape and face shape is pretty spot on. I ironically imagined him blonde. They just didn't take into account my hair choices! Haha!
I have an open mind, but I just hope they don't ruin this amazing book series like they did Twilight...

Katniss is supposed to have dark hair, and Peeta is blond! I have to think they'll alter all that for the movie, though, right?

You weren't imagining. Collins describes Katniss as dark-haired and dark-eyed (and Prim is the opposite, with blonde hair and blue eyes). Peeta is described as having blonde hair.

Yes! I am not crazy! It's just my subconcious reminding me of what I read!:)
I feel like the role of Katniss has a lot of pressure behind it. If Jennifer Lawrence doesn't do an outstanding job in this movie, critics and fans will be disappointed. I think that every reader has a different version of Katniss in their head. I'm anxious and a tad bit nervous to see how Jennifer Lawrence delivers on the big screen, though.
wait why is the person playing katniss blond?! i thought she had black hair?
