message 104: by Harriet (new)

Harriet Schultz | 10 comments I think I've read most of Julia and Eloisa's books and I'm beyond excited that I'll be attending a master class at the New England chapter of Romance Writers of America's conference in April taught by -- ta da -- Julia Quinn! As a writer of romantic thrillers, but a voracious reader of historic romances, this will be a thrill. I see that author promos aren't welcome in introductions, so I'll post in that thread too if anyone's interested.

Welcome Robin and Jona! You've come to the right place. Just jump in wherever you've got something to say. We all have pretty eclectic tastes but our love of EJ and JQ is something we all have in common. You have excellent taste:)

message 113: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (staceyissassy) Hi, I’m an Aussie chick happily married to the love of my life with 2 very active boys that keep me on my toes. At the moment my life revolves around – Family, reading, coffee and my Goodreads friends.

It all started in my teenage years with a Sweet Dreams book called Rocky Romance, about a nerdy girl who had a crush on her twin brother’s best friend. As I got older my tastes matured and changed. I learnt that Romance was definitely my favourite Genre and I became addicted to Historical Romances. My two favourite authors were Jude Deveraux and Julie Garwood.

I (stupidly) stopped reading romance when I married at 22. I didn’t think I needed to read about love when I already had my ‘one true love’ right in front of me. One day my younger sister told me about a new series called Twilight. What a turning point. I started reading like crazy. There was no longer time to do silly things like watch TV or go out on the town. Now, besides my family, reading is my passion.

My favourite historical Romance writers are - Manda Collins (of course) Eloisa James, Julia Quinn, Tessa Dare, Sarah MacLean, Paula Quinn, Grace Burrowes, Courtney Milan, Julie Ann Long, Caroline Linden and many more.

When I write reviews I like to cover the things that are most important to me when I’m looking for a book. The things I look for are – a strong and confident (generally Alpha) Hero, no cheating, HEA, a heroine who likes to be ‘looked after’ but can make a decision for herself and I also like to know beforehand if there is sex in the book. I don’t write excessively long reviews because I don’t like to read excessively long reviews. I like a review that gets to the point and covers the important stuff. If you like your hero’s to say “mine” a lot and you don’t mind a little dirty talking (or a lot), then your type of books are my type of books.

I've joined this group sometime ago but haven't done anything here so far.
I'm a sure fan of JQ and have read all her books. I've only started EJ about a year ago and loving her. For this genre I also love Georgette Heyer and read a lot from Lisa Kleypas, Suzanne Enoch, Karen Hawkins and some from several other.
And I think I'm going to look for one from Manda Collins ;)

Win Hollows (winhollows) | 1 comments Hello Everyone!

My name is Win Hollows, and I am a voracious reader (and now author) of historical romance. I own every one of Julia Quinn's books, as well as Lisa Kleypas', Sabrina Jeffries', and lots more! My rogue of a husband despairs of the shelf space I continue to take up, but watcha gonna do? ;)

I grew up in a native fishing village in Alaska where my parents were posted as teachers, so there wasn't much to do besides read. As my father is a history teacher and a psychologist, and my mother reads sweet romance, my genre preferences were pretty much allotted to me at birth. Now that I write historical romance, my parents are both scandalized and proud.

I can't get my hands on enough good historical romances like these authors, so I am hoping to connect with other readers and authors of the genre. Thanks for welcoming me to the group!

Hi
here's a thread where we talk about what we read each week, if you want to join us :) https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

During covid I mostly reread my favorites and I was frustrated with myself that I didn't start new stuff. I'm actually proud of myself because I finished a series that I started in 2015 but never picked it up again after book 2.

I think I started reading HR when I was 10 or so. I would "borrow" my mother's books and read them without anyone noticing. :D
