Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Am I associal?????..... I have been taking my lunch at my new job always around 12 or 12.15......mainly because I am hungry. But every day a colleague asks if I want to have lunch with them..... and I always say I had it already....but a second reason I go and eat already is....because then I am alone ...and I can read!!!!!!!!

message 2456: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments Jeane, I was like that at my office job too. I never wanted to go to lunch with anyone, I preferred staying in my office and reading while eating a granola bar. Also everyone I worked with was 20-30 years older than me so I felt really out of place.

message 2457: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) What job? What have I missed? Congrats anyway Jeane but tell me all about it pls.

message 2458: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I think I better plan extra GR time in my weekend plans...don't manage to catch up when I come back from work.

My colleagues are actually all a bit younger or a bit older and probably interesting to have lunch with ....but I am always thinking about all the time I will miss that way for reading, especially now I am not home anymore and can't read the whole day. It is like from 100% reading during the week, to 10%!!!!

I started working Monday. Thanks Petra.

message 2461: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Great it is Friday! Normally I finish at 4.45 so I am home towards six. But every fraiday, besides the last one of the month we finish at 3.30!!!! Got home at the same time btut at least i could pick up a package and go to the shop.
bad side is that every last one of the month we have to stay till late. Like the time we left earlier ever friday, we will work later the last friday of the month. Because they close balances and all thos things, so there is a lot of work to do then.

message 2462: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Oh, my package! It was from my boyfriend's mother. She send a big brown envelope and filled it completely with tea bags. All my favourites!!!!! The normal lipton tea, the camomilla from Italy which is njamie njamie and then a twinnings I adore with ribes nero, ginseng and vanilla. The smell inside the package was sooooooooooooooooooo good!

message 2463: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments okay boyfriend came home from work. He started working two days later than me! And as I ahve the weekend off but he has to work ten hours tomorrow, gonna cook soemthing for us. Start to get hungry too.

Jessica | 1000 comments I have a job interview on Monday! They e-mailed the application and whatnot to fill out and part of it was a reading comprehension test. I was like, WTF? I am a college graduate who read 57 books last year, I think I can comprehend a simple paragraph.

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Laura wrote: "YAY Jeane congratulations! Happy days are here again in Jeane-world."

Haha, I really miss the reading and my mmore than once a week library visits! I took Moby Dick as book to read on bus and during lunch because I don't get through it easily. That way I read it in small bits and it works really well.
And then I have a book home which is to read between dinner and going to bed. That one is jsut one i want to read, so not like Moby Dick.

My bus stop isn't far from the library, maybe five minutes or so. And since I startedworking, everytime I get off I am thinking about the place! But later in the day...yahoooooo. And put some reading time in today too. :-))))

message 2468: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments After getting up at 6.15 every day...I of course don't manage to sleep longer int he weekend......I am really awake since then and out of bed around 7.30. Well I had been out already. My boyfriend liked it though. He has his first early day at work adn was getting up at 6.30...as I was awake anyway I made him a caffe latte which helped him. He is really not a morning eprson, contrary to me. But this way I can catch up a bit. Have to wait for library anyway, opens at ten. Also supermarket probably around now or ten.... .

message 2469: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments You weren't bugsy! It said you weren't online!
Ha, did the shopping and staying in for the rest of the day. But shouldn't be here, shouldn't be here...really was going to read. The books is beside me....I drank my cup of tea but didn't read.

OKay, this isn't anymore windy and not even strong windy...this is stormy1 When I came back from the supermarket by footh I had two big bags with me. Had to push against the wind but the wind made of my books something near to wings! Should have seen me1 I thought I was going to fly!!!!

message 2475: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Com'on...there is an author on GR who send me again a friends request. I don't know who she is, don't know her books and she always says we have books in common and Florence......but never saw a post of her. I deleted it the last time and she is there again. She probably redoes all her requests every month!

I saw that he forecast gives even more wind tomorrow!!!! Just going to go to the centre. Hopefully my boyfriend wants to go early in the morning, then back home and staying inside.....

message 2478: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments You know the duvet (the white one you put inside the bed cover)...Well, when we moved to Nottingham we bought a winter one because it was winter....seemed logic. But it was so thick, heavy and warm that I couldn't sleep so I bought one of 4.5 instead of over 10. The 4.5 is normally for summer. But in Nottingham and later London we were warm under it.
So this time, it went like this. The first day we arrived here we went to buy all the bed stuff and even though it was cold (didn't realize yet that it was much colder already end november than I ever felt in England) so told my boyfriend that we better buy again one of only 4.5 because otherwise it would be to warm again. He actually didn't mind the heavier one in England. But now we realized that it is so much colder and we are not really warm with the light one. But I kept telling him things like..we can just make the heater go on for half an hour during the night to break the cold...or that I can handle, that it is okay and so on......tomorrow we go and buy a heavier one.

:-)))) I am sure that the whole speech that I got already several times about it, will have to be heard again tomorrow when we go and buy it... :-)))

And yes I do think stuborness is a positive characteristic of myself. Just that I call it stick to what I believe in.

It is an administrative/HR job for a trucking & shipping company. I won't lie, if I get the job, I'll be sad to see my Borders discount go but working at Borders itself is a little mind-numbing. I pretty much just say the same 4 phrases over and over again until my shift is over.

message 2480: by [deleted user] (new)

Jessica & Jeane I too usually read. I use to sit at a table with a friend and we both would read but she left. It calms me and is nice as a break to read.

We have so much snow here today. I was hoping to take my kids to the dentist, get my son signed up for baseball, get groceries then bum on GR &/or read but alas this horrible snow storm has forced me out in the cold. I have spent with the children, about 6 hours shoveling. It looks like it is stopping. I so hope! My back and arms are killing me & my snowblower which I jsut got back from the repair shop stopped working at 6:00 am today. Thank goodness I have five good snow shovels!

It's nice to be inside, dry & finally warm!!!!!!!!!!

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 636 comments we have snow here!

another thing..is anyone else bitten by this nasty flu bug sort of thing that I seem to have caught? I think it's just a 24 hour thing..but i have been out for the count today...the only good to come from that is finishing a whole book today.
