Fiona, I wasn't like that in the past but since I after a verrrrryyyyyyyyyyyy long search found a job in Nottingham, at a hotel I became like that. I got the job, for two weeks they kept me busy and then they told me I didn't have the job because the person leaving wasn't going to leave.....so now I need a contract. But at least they send me an e-mail yesterday asking for other details and the agency contacted the compagny because I asked her about it and they told me that I could sign it next monday when I start working. so at least they are still expecting me there......but I wished I ahd the contract. Would have felt much better and sure.

Emilee, you don't need more books. You jsut have to see MOby Dick as 20 mini books...that is actually an idea. Would it help you if we see it as mini books? Or read it in between. For instance start reading, after five pages you go and take a cup of tea, and read another tree. Then you go and check TNBBC and read three pages. Like reading a couple of pages in between chores and so....

Thanks Fiona. You know I tried a bit of Polish but don't get far. I think that is one of the most difficult languages to learn.

Yes, I am used to celabreate New Year's eve with presents...so I continue it when not being in Belgium too. But the sixth of january the beffane comes in Italy, so maybe I will get presents then! :-)))

Jeane: I think looking at Moby Dick as 20 mini books will work for me. I sadly only read 1 page last night. Please tell me it gets better??????

message 2366: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow it's 2009. I thought, when I was younger, our life in the 21st century would be like the Jetson's. I'm still waiting for my flying car/saucer thing. Not going to happen.

message 2367: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Uhm Emilee, I am using this for the winter challenge in the task:books you never finsihed...and I have to tell you it will get better????!!!!!! Sure it does! I hope it does. But you are given some more time to catch up...I decided to use the book as my transport book for when I start working on Monday! So your goal will be to finish book one! How many pages would book one be? I am going to get you there...so I will be encouraged by you reading it too! :-)

message 2368: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeane: I'm going to use it for my 700 pages. We have until the end of Feb right? I can so do this. When we get this done Jeane we need to have a pot of tea and plate of biscuts!!!!!! Should we plan for the party on March 1st????

message 2369: by [deleted user] (new)

Fiona: Just start it now, you can catch up to me. I'm going to try to read 10 pages a day. I decided I can't read it before bed. I can do the 10 pages I know I can.

Melville is extremely intelligent and a bit descriptive. Think of him as a twisted McEwan!

message 2370: by [deleted user] (new)

You can read both, trust me you'll need another book! Plus you want to have vertual tea & biscuts with Jeane & I when we finally finish.

message 2371: by [deleted user] (new)

I got to go, but I'll be back. Helping my son finish moving into his new room. It is so cute all sports-baseball, football, soccer, Basketball. Totally fun and boyish!

Don't ready Moby Dick. It's terrible. I tried and tried to finish the darn thing and never could. It's one of only 2 books I never finished.
I could never get passed the singing on the ship. Plus, it was really difficult to follow.

Mom's time now! Yeah!

Kellie: you can try to pick it up (Moby Dick) where you left off. It sometimes helps to have others reading the same book!

message 2377: by [deleted user] (new)

The only book spread sheet I have is for my 1001 books to read before I die. I'm not too far but by the end of teh year I hope to jump up at least 2%.

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments Regarding Moby
I don't remember a thing about it. I actually quit it towards the end. It was a real shame I couldn't finish it. I just couldn't take it anymore.

I have spreadsheets. I started in 2002. The problem is, it just feeds my OCD tendancies. Every time I finish a book, I have this procedure I go thru...record on Goodreads, bookreporter, spreadsheets....etc. Jeesh...it's bad...

Great both of you! I thought about it often but will stick to my cute little notebook. Every year I start a new page with the year on top and write every book that I read, numbered.
This way I can add whenever I want and don't need the computer. Have fun both of you! Don't forget to read!

Sometimes I wish I wouldn't understand more than two languages. Like when you go to the beach and I see there are germans....I don't like it. when my boyfriend sees German at the beach he likes it ebcause for Italians they are seen as quiet and nice. But he doesn't understand what they say. Once we were in Jesolo, beach place North of Italy, and there was a German family nex to us with a kid. So my boyfriend happy, me not. after a bit I told him that I wished they would sit somewhere else. But he said he was glad it were Germans next to us. So I told him he wouldn't if he would understand the kid. I explained him that the kid was actually saying rude things about us (he thought nobody understood us as we spoke italian). At the same time it can be cheeky when people hear you talk and immediately think you are from that nationality and don't understand them.....hehe but sometimes it is annoying when you don't want to hear anything and you understand people...like on the bus...all those conversations I don't want to hear....

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Damned the new year doesn't start well. Since yesterday we don't have any heater in the house warming...boiler thing doesn't get a flame when we put it on.....it was already cold with the heater working, guess now.....we got one of those electric heaters to use...but they don't give any warmth besides some warm air when you stand next to it!
Today friday, tomorrow weekend...so not much chance it will get fixed before monday!

message 2393: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Okay, going to write it here as I can't in a certain page where people are trying to do the contrary of what I did today:-))))

This morning was the first day the library was open again, since like about two weeks almost so went to bring in four books and of course got four books with me. I focused on the winter challenge and managed to take four books with me for the challenge. My god finding a book with who, where, when is much much ahrder than I thought it would be, Those words are used so much that I thought i would constantly see books starting with one of them....nope.
Then I had to go to the centre to open an account and get my monthly ticket to go to work from Monday on. Went together with my boyfriend...and we started by finding back the place where we ate or first piece of cake and drank something warm when we came checking out Dublin before moving here. Their carrot cake is wonderful, I adore the place...mmmmm. But later my boyfriend did weird. he practically never reads and tries to take my attention off from bookshops. Bt not today. we passed Eason (book chain in Ireland) and I was not even watching it as I had things to do like the card to go to work and so...but he was leading me to the shop! I told him I didn't wanted to go but he told me he wanted to go in...??????????????????? One of his new year's presents was some spoiling money for him, so he decided to buy a computer game magazine there. He shouldn't have he shouldn't have...I was being soooooo good and he ruined it.....Eason had a 75% discount on a huge amount of books in boxes. But not those kind of books that you understand why they don't get sold. Interesting books. I decided to watch only books not higher than 2.99 euros. Because I knew I would buy something and I had told myself I could buy one book to award myself for finsing a job. a book of normal price I meant....sooooo 75% off means more than one book. i got two books plaus a box with three books written by Meave Binchy for 6.97 euros!!!!!!!!
so today I came home with four new borrowed books from the library and five new books for almost no money....
but my boyfriend kept doing strange...in the ed i found out he needed something from a bookshop and ended up visiting all four different ones we past. I mean he decided to go in!!!!!! But you know what....I had to stay out......

message 2394: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments :-((((((((
Okay, I know it might sound weird but....com'on I must be kidding, right? I mean, Monday I have my first day at work in Ireland......normally that would be the only thing in my mind, even more three days beofre I have to start. But it isn't....Guess what is in my mind?????!!!!!!! How I will get on TNBBC if i come home towards 7pm, have to eat, prepare for the next day like lunch...and want to be in bed at ten...... I hope i don't feel like when Iwas working in London and used the whole day the computer at work. I wouldn't even feel like checking my mail when coming home because i had enough of using computers.....but I didn't know about Goodreads then...so it wasn't a problem. But now.....

The positive thing about this is that I am geting less nervous than i would normally be, because I am thinking about TNBBC!

message 2395: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments But I prepare sooo fast my lunch or don't even ahve to prepare it because I make or ask my boyfriend to make extra dinner and take it with me. I mean if the time I am on here is 100% I will be only able during the week to be on like max 20% and I feel that will be even over estimated....

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments my ligaments at my right knee hurt soooo much that I practically can't walk and my footh feels cramped and painful. and I took the worse moment to take an unknown road home by footh! We got of the bus and went to ask something in the post office, when I saw a street which according to me could be the one that comes out in the street i live. So I decided to go in there as it felt like it would be shorter....it wasn't. We did this whole round around and came at the other end of our street. My pain went up with at least fifty percent!!!! And from cold I went to freezing cold. But at least there was a warm room waiting...oh no there wasn't as the heather doesn't work......
