Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments You see Fiona, you are meant to go to Waterstones this time.

Bianca, I am coming to you if one day I keep learning German and don't give up of boredom after two days! I love it that speaking different languages can make you meet different people, cultures.... .

Petra, I am trying to figure out Irish pronounciation! When I take the Luas (tram) the stops have the name in Irish and English and a female voice says them both. So I am always watching how it is written and how pronounced!

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Do you think new people who see that this random thought thread with Fiona, Laura and Emilee their names in between the title, will come here too? I hope so, maybe the quiet moments sometimes will fill up then!
petra it would be funny if one day I manage to say some things in Irish!

My head is going to explode. Have been reading about Sinn Fein the whole day. Very interesting. Now i know more about it and what Sinn Fein means! Even if I am wondering how thy pronounce it and it might not be a good idea to ask to any Irish person....

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments book buying person!
I am trying to do it a different way. Can't buy books yet but want to be passive in being busy with books I don't have yet. So have been looking for bookshops in Dublin and found a lsit of independent bookshops! Of course now I want to check them out....
Saturday I found the book market in the centre...but there wasn't much. But still two or three stands with second hand books. Saw a couple of interesting ones but the prices I saw were a bit too high. Have to find back the street where I found second hand books when I cam efor a couple of days to dublin. each book was four euros and five for ten. I bought a Maeve Binchy book then.

message 2304: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I also once was in the centre, I think London or Nottingham, and had to buy something (not books), maybe in the supermarket or so...but suddenly I noticed I was in a bookshop, didn't realize I had gone inside...and completely forgot of course why I was in the centre..... explain that to your boyfriend when coming back home...

message 2305: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm here Fiona & Jeane.

Hopefully others will join us the title might scare some away. I'm only scary to look at so be blessed that you can't see me!

I should take French again. I've been helping my highschooler with her French.

message 2306: by [deleted user] (new)

I am dreadfully bored. It's nice being off but I spent the morning cleaning the house. read for a little bit. I guess it's good I'm not a stay at home mom. Maybe not. I think I would get bored when I got everything done.

I'm hungry again too. When am I not hungry. It's too early for dinner. Maybe we'll eat early. I don't know but if I snack now I know that I won't want to eat.

message 2307: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Bonjour Emilee! Je suis contente que tu es ici..... and now in German..ich bin...yep okay, that german study project over ten year would be helpful!
Fiona, can we change the title in The Lunatic Asylum???? I really like it!

Emilee, I just read an article that says that when you eat food based on soja you will be less hungry and also not that fast. That is agood excuse to start buying soja milk again. I just have the problem that I like it so much I would drink a liter a day...which is a bit too much I think....
And milky products aren't good for me...gives to much slimy stuff in my throat and much isn't good for my poor stomach either...I am just babling...
oh I just watched the princess diaries...funny.....cooooold

message 2308: by [deleted user] (new)

Princess Diaries is funny. Cute show.

I noticed that when it's colder out I eat more.

It's cold here today. Which yesterday & saturday it was really warm & had excessive rain which caused flooding & all the snow to melt. Very strange weather.

message 2309: by [deleted user] (new)

I need to speed up on my reading too.

Dang, the dryer just finished I should really go fold clothes.

message 2310: by [deleted user] (new)

That's what I'm thinking. I really get bored folding clothes. But I guess I could forgo it as it's just the kids clothes.

message 2311: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I am trying not to eat more than normally but it is coooold. Every day I plan something outside for the next day but every day it is so cold that I stay inside!

Gonna drink something warm...

Bianca (biancamaria) | 120 comments Random Thought: Why do people always come in to my work and order a bajillion things ten minutes before we close? Is it just to torture me!

message 2313: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments Emilee wrote: "That's what I'm thinking. I really get bored folding clothes. But I guess I could forgo it as it's just the kids clothes."

Jumping in here...
It seems like all I did over Christmas was laundry. I don't mind sorting it, I don't mind washing or drying (not much to that with machines) but the folding and putting away is what kills me. I dispise it. I do it but I grumble. The worst is pairing socks. There is always one without a pair. Hate it hate it hate it

message 2314: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Ekkk...laundry! I had to go to the laundry mat yesterday and it was packed! I think no one did laundry over the holiday and left all for last night. I had to wait 15 minutes for a dryer. I still have to go back today to wash sheets and quilts. bleh!

message 2315: by [deleted user] (new)

Kellie I am so glad I'm not the only one who dispises doing laundry. I joked with my kids that I was going to get rid of all their clothes except one Sunday outfit & one Everyday out fit. Didn't go over very well! I just know that it would be an extremely small batch of wash weekly.

message 2316: by [deleted user] (new)

Jackie: I sympathize. I was tempted to toss my laundry in the car & go to the laundry mat just because I'd get it over with faster then using my machine. I hate having just one but don't want more.

message 2317: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Shall I come over? I love doing that! :-)

Ireland and recicling isn't going very well together yet.....

message 2318: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments There are 2 things about the laundry mat I like (and only 2)
If it isn't too crowded, you can get all of your laundry done it a couple hours.
And, you can READ while you wait :)

message 2319: by Jeane (last edited Dec 30, 2008 08:00AM) (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I just found out that the unused green bin they have here can be used for carton, plastic bottles and so on...really happy to find out, because one girl keeps boxes and so in the kitchen without trowing them away. But now I found out you can't put hard cardboard in it!

message 2320: by [deleted user] (new)

Any extra time to read is good.

Glad you found a bin Jeane. I have two here in the states but I could use more than that!

message 2321: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) You still have until tomorrow to buy more. :-)

message 2322: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments RANDOM THOUGHT:

I just read some spoiler reviews of Living Dead Girl and now I am veryyyyy disturbed.

This is NOT a good way to start the reading evening.

message 2323: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) I have one more to buy...the last book in the Gemma Doyle Trilogy. I have to complete the series. I'm also not counting free books I get from co-workers. Those books need a good home and I could provide one for them.

Gemma, I try not to read anything on GR regarding the books I'm reading for that reason.

message 2324: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments :D YAYYYY.

I'm not reading it, but I was interested in the subject

message 2325: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Emilee, unfortunately the main reason I was trying to find out what I can put in, makes me still ahve to go to the recycling centre. It doesn't look for on the map, but wonder how long it is walking with folded cardboard! It isn't even mine!
But maybe I ca start to use the green bin outside for plastic stuff and maybe the others in the house will too then and that way we use less garbage bags!
I am so used to recycling that it isn't easy not to recycle...

I jsut finsihed this book that made no sense at all. The write just seemed to ahve written whatever came in his mind and jumped from one thing to the other..... fortunately it read so fast that i might have needed max 3 hours to read it. First and probably last book written by that author!

message 2326: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I am still reading Sinn fein which is really interesting. Also busy with Moby Dick but didn't read it the last two days ebcause I want to encourage Emilee. And have three other library books plus two my house mate gave to me to read. So no problem till the 2nd of january when library opens.

message 2327: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Let me know how it goes, with both of them. saw the movie about the Munich thing.

message 2328: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeane: when we first moved out to Illinois from the West Coast of the States they limited what you can put in the bins. Now I can put everything recyclable. Love it.

By the by did you get the job????

message 2329: by [deleted user] (new)

I should go read right now but alas I need an internet break!

message 2330: by [deleted user] (new)

My poor son. So I forgot to make sure that I had a movie from Netflix for him and just logged in well they are so fast. I just mailed back all our movies yesterday and they have already shipped out my new movies.

All chic flix. My poor son.

message 2331: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Poooor son emilee. Well it will be a chcks day for him!
I quite liked the movie too Fiona.

message 2332: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I feel depressed. Just came back from the supermarket to buy toilet paper and kitchen paper (last one is becuase my boyfriend can't do without!). There was 1.19 for the kitchen paper and I ended up paying 3.49! Normally I would have chekced at the reception point but there were sooo many people in the shop I jsut didn't feel like it. Then while walking home I was thinking about the things I had to remember to check on the internet and try to remember to check them before opening Goodreads(otherwise I forget everything).....and here I am again trying to remember what it was. One thing I onl remember that i had to see if on the website there was a section for foreigners.....but that doesn't help. And can't remember anything about the other things......

message 2333: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments And I don't get a letter which should have arrived on Tuesday......... and I really need/want it because it will make me feel so much better...

message 2334: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments thaaaank you!!!!!!! I hope the wind comes from England!

I remembered one thing now but can't seem to find a sufficient answer on what I am lloking for!
I feel I get annoyed and hope I won't become stressy.

message 2337: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) OK, does that last thing you wrote mean God Bless You? Cause we say that when you sneeze. But I'm not sure of the spelling.

So you think you got a lead on a job, Jeane?? That's really great! I hope you get it !!!

message 2338: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Damned, I am not going to get the letter ebcause they forgot to tell someone to post everything before Friday!! Aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrggggghhh and here I am waiting.....

Okay, normally I don't see it as 100% sure till I get a contract but guess I will take it as 99.9% sure. I have been told I have a job and will start the fifth of january. Was waiting since last week monday to get a contract and be sure about it. But okay, I have a job :-)))

message 2339: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I'm thinking of Gesundheit (can you tell I'm German?) Do they both mean good health, or blessings on your health? What language was yours Jeane?

message 2340: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments But for myself it won't be sure till I sign the contract!!!!1

message 2341: by [deleted user] (new)

Fiona: My son is getting use to it. I still feel bad. The last two sets of movies were all chick flix's too!

message 2342: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow! It's almost 2009! Can't believe how quickly the year went by!

Jeane: Moby Dick is boring me! I feel asleep 3x while trying to read one page last night. I will finish this book no matter how much it makes me fall asleep.

message 2343: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Yeah Jeane what will you be doing?

Emilee maybe you guys can all play a game together or something? (While you're watching the chick flick?? ha ha) Like a boy game. Battleship? Your son is the youngest right?

message 2344: by [deleted user] (new)

I want more books I just need more time to read! I really would like to finish at least two more books before midnight. I should really go read. Nice being off & having a clean house I can just bum around the house today. Yeah!

I need to go to the post myself. Hopefully our netflix movies are there. Tonight is going to be a peaceful enjoyable evening.

Laura, Petra, Jeane, Fiona & Emma & anyone else out there any great plans tonight???

message 2345: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Games and movies w/our daughter, who is grounded and therefore stuck w/mom and dad. Her worst nightmare, but we're pretty happy about it ! hee hee

message 2346: by [deleted user] (new)

My oldest wants to go to a party but has to have her old room & new room spotless. She has been working on it the last two days I'll see is she is stuck with me or not.

Your night sounds great Laura! It's just nice to stay home and enjoy the simple things. I hate driving on the roads because of all the drunk drivers.

message 2347: by [deleted user] (new)

Go buy books just a few, make it a New Years resolution not to buy books and go hav e one last splurge!!!!!!!!

I might fall asleep unless I don't read Moby Dick until after midnight. LOL!

message 2348: by [deleted user] (new)
