Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Happy thanksgiving everybody!!!! I am so tired......having another italian in the house makes the conversations in the kitchen really long.....more than 3 hours!!!!!!

message 1752: by [deleted user] (new)

Happy late Thanksgiving!

Okay so I have to complain. Walmart SUCKS! So I wake up at 3:30 am to go get the Ninetdo DS that my son wants for Christmas. I wait in line for 2 hours and 45 minutes, I was number 47 in line. They RAN out. How do you run out. They ran out of everything! So many people were utterly upset.

Okay so I jsut ran out of the overpacked & crowded Walmart got to Target. I should have just gone there in the first place as they have over 100 in stock for this weekend. Granted they were $10.00 more but I got it. In/out in 15 mins.

I usually never ever shop on Black Friday. Now I know why!!!!!!!!!!!

message 1753: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments Great Venting Emilee!
I hate Walmart too!!
I decided NOT to go out for black Friday.....

message 1754: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Emilee, don't use it often but nintendo ds is fun. I like a lot the brain trianer with Dr kawacima(or however it is written).

I will get fed up soon of agencies saying that I have a very strong cv and that companies will for sure be interested....if I don't get a job too!
And why does every job of one agency have to be assigned to someone else, so that you can't ask about two different jobs to one person?????

message 1755: by [deleted user] (new)

Kellie smart thinking. We did got to B&N but it wasn't crowded at all. It was just a normal day at the bookstore!

Jeane, I hope you find a job. It sucks looking. I wish both you & Fiona a lot of luck.

I'm waiting for our new kitten to arrive. My girlfriend found a kitten stuck in their tree. Couldn't find the owner and don't want a kitten they've had her for about a month. We are taking her in. I'm so excited. We should have her in about 20 minutes. Yeah!

message 1756: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments I was at walmart too and it was HELL!!!! My sister got knocked down!! OMG! I can't even tell you about how horrible our experience was. But, she did get the 2 nintendo ds's she wanted, and I got a game chair for 30.00. So was it worth it?...

Yes, cause we had a great time together. Except for her getting knocked down. I started singing, hoping people would think I was crazy and was in need of returning to the looney bin, and get out of my way!!lol

message 1757: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Hmm...RETURNing to the looney bin Ann? Gotta be a story there! LOL I love to do loony things in public places - it's so much fun to get those weird looks. (And it's great when my teenager is around to be able to mortify her in such a fun way!)

What does the kitten look like Emilee? I love kittens!

message 1758: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments Ann....
Wow! I heard people DIED today on Black Friday.
Sounds like you had fun even thought your sister was knocked over.
I avoided today. I did go out tonight to do my grocery shopping. It was pretty quiet.
Everyone must be sleeping from being up earlier...

Emilee...Now I want a kitten. I always had a cat as a kid. I liked them. My husband and son are allergic so....end of that idea. :(

message 1759: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments The sphynx. they are so ugly.
If we get one, it will have fur and look like a normal cat. Not a naked one. Those are freaky....
We need a cat to keep the mice out of the house. We get mice every year. I hate mice. they are worse than snakes!

message 1760: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) I like snakes and don't let my kitties kill them. Don't like mice or rats though.

I am semi-computerless as either the motherboard or video card has gone on my machine and I have to borrow one. No more Barbies.

message 1761: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I love kittens but I love almsot every animal. We fund out when we arrived at the place we share in Dublin that the girl of the house has two husky dogs...both around 8 months old. Now we also found out that the female one is pregnant and expects puppies in about two weeks!!!!!!!!

Good luck Fiona. Me, can't understand: I see interesting jobs on the internet, they tell me I have a good and strong cv....sooo ????????

message 1762: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments It is soooo quite since yesterday on TNBBC...is it because of thanksgiving?
This morning Dublin was giving -4 degrees at 9 am!

message 1763: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Fiona....-1......brrr Yep December is coming and a little bit of me is hoping it will pass fast or at least will get better....

Damned the heater just switched of....and I started to feel a bit warmer now. Can't drink too many hot tea becaue=se the bathroom is freezing cold. Yiu jst feel the cold coming in at the windows. Why don't they have better windows or doors in Britain?????

message 1764: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I also want a cold room to sleep but if this room is the main one to stay in, then I don't want to be freezing...another reason to get a job soon: I won't be home during the cold moments.

message 1765: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I want to buy a nice warm blanket but for now i have only seen expensive ones. But in the end I jsut want that the heather is more on during the day. It has been put like this: from around 4am till 6 am, 8-10 am, 3.20-5.20 pm and 7.30-9.30 pm.....suring the night I am in bed under the cover, so maybe half an hour would be okay then..later there is a gap from 10 till 3.20!!! When you are working you won't feel much about it, but it is weekend now and not every body works the same hours!!!!!!!

message 1766: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) Its cold here. My son went off sailing this morning with a sweatshirt on. Down to 72 last night so I didn't bother with the aircon. I went to the beach this morning to watch the surfers and its definitely winter here too.

message 1767: by Angela (new)

Angela | 1934 comments I would love to see 72!! I hate winter. We are at 40 here in Chicago.

message 1768: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) OMG 40!!!

message 1769: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments Thanks for the birthday wishes everybody!

And I survived my first Black Friday working in retail. It wasn't too bad, we were busy but not overly so and didn't have any crazy people. Although we opened at 8:00 so that might have had something to do with it.

message 1770: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) Throw them away and buy new. Or come to the Caribbean and never wear socks again.

message 1771: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments No fiona, none of those shops. But today my boyfriend asked if it was okay to put the heater on in the house like for another hour around 10.30 and the girl said of course, that she doesn't mind becuase she has the lectric cover in her bed so she doens't notice it when it is cold.

message 1772: by Angela (new)

Angela | 1934 comments Snowy today and at 31! (First snow fall of the season)...ARRGGHH!!!

message 1773: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments It is snowing in Italy too!!!! here it just gets really cold for the moment. This morning i went for a fast walk outside just to warm myself!!!

message 1774: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments First time piadina fritta in Dublin, hope it works!!!!!!!!!

message 1775: by [deleted user] (new)

Ann I'm glad your sister got the DS's she wanted. I didn't not at walmart. I was scared that the lady behind me was going to attack all of us in the line.

Fiona: I'll get a picture of the kitty. She is so damn cute! though she kept me up a ton last night. Still love her. She is so darn cuddly!

message 1776: by [deleted user] (new)

Kellie: my dad & brother are allergic to cats. But we still had them growing up. Granted they were either in my or my sisters room or outside. Don't get the hairless cats they are so creepy. My aunt has one I think it wants to kill everyone!

message 1777: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments OK Here is the deal everyone.
We have mice. I HATE Mice. The mouse is in the garage and it's been stealing dog food.
My husband was pulling out the X-mas tree under the stairs and he found a pile of dog food hidden in one of the fold up chairs.
We sooooo need a cat.
The poor dog probably just sits there and watches the mouse steal it's food. AARRRGGHH!!
I hate mice!

message 1778: by [deleted user] (new)

Kellie: usually mice are scared of dogs and cats but I have to say we get mice every winter I have two dogs & two cats and the mice just don't care. Granted my dog usually gets the mouse but it stinks. The worse if decon works but you can't use that if you have other pets. When I've put traps down they sneak out the food.

message 1779: by [deleted user] (new)

Fiona that is such a funny story!

My girlfriend had a mouse just get stuck in the back of the fridge. It is stuck in the wiring. She can't get it out & it is stinking awful bad.

message 1780: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) That was funny, Fiona... "it died of my bad playing" WOW whoda thought you could kill a mouse by banging those piano keys? I've always wanted to be able to play the piano.

Naked cats...hmm. Can you say YUK? I knew you could.

Emilee - glad you are enjoying your new kitty! I bet the kids love her too. What color is she?

message 1781: by [deleted user] (new)

She is orange. The kids won't leave her alone. But she seems to love them for it! Our two year old cat doesn't like the new kitty very much. I am sure with time she'll be okay.

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments Ok, I know some of you have been involved in the "NATIONAL NOVEL" writing thingy for the month of November. Well a friend of mine is getting hers published. Its some sort of love/smut story. I can't wait to read it.
How did you do Fiona? Who eles did it? Sounds great!!

message 1784: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) Much respect to anyone who did nanowrimo. That's a hell of a commitment

message 1785: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) Emilee - if you are allergic to one cat you might not be to another, esp. of a different breed. Its something to do with the proteins in the dander they shed. It was on the tv but I forget when and what just remembered this bit.

message 1786: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments My dog used to chase mice and one time chased it in the house, played with it, chased it again, it went in shoes, she took it up, killed it and started to lay on it with her back in our living room!!!!

message 1787: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Fiona, what did make you pick up the book you hate mot???? I saw it in a bookshop today and the cover didn't attract me at all. Then I read the back of it and ....well...why did you decide to read it???????

Went to two bookshops today and discovered one has an extra floor upstairs and the other one downstairs. Was so glad becasue this means that there are normal sized bookshops in Dublin besides Easton!!!!! More books!!!! And in one I found A christmas Carol for only 3 euros!!!!! Saw other classics for only 3 euros there!!!!

I applied for another job that an agency send me and I really hope I will never be asked what I think the job is about, because I don't know!!!!!! The agency said I would be good for that position but it sounds all so complicated, confusing and high level!!!!!

message 1788: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Fiona, are you talking about the book you are pr-ing as wors tbook ever or the last one you discovered on my shelves?

message 1789: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Petra. Maybe that's why sometimes my dad doesn't break out in hives. And he is fine around dogs.

message 1790: by [deleted user] (new)

What is the dollar conversion. I'm just curious.

I want to visit GB really bad. I also got my son hooked on Stone hedge. he wants to figure out what is was for.

message 1791: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Emilee, I went to stonehenge when I was living in London and it felt so unreal to be there!

message 1792: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments Fiona, I agree that Stonehenge was kind of a rip off for how much is cost. Although I am glad I went. And I loved the cathedral in Salisbury, even if I had to practically lay on the ground to get a picture of the whole thing.

message 1793: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments I was there in June of 2006. It was a group of us; we spent two days in London, went over to Stonehenge/Salisbury, then took the ferry to France and spent the next 10 days traveling all through France.

message 1794: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) I was a druid in a past life. I had long dead straight yellow hair and got worshipped at Stone Henge once a year. The rest of the time I screwed around and wrote poetry.

I wish.

message 1795: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments It is true stonehenge did cost abit but I don't care that there wasn't a good centre or souvenir shop...jsut wanted to be there...
Emilee, do listen to fiona about Portsmouth though! visted it in 2007 and could have spend another day there. Loved the historic dockyard and getting completely wet when living for a tour with a little boat!

message 1796: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments Haha Fiona, that would have been funny if we passed each other and had no idea.

message 1797: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) If any of you ever go to the island of Antigua, there is Nelson's Dockyard. Its perfectly preserved, still used in fact, and is the setting of the famous regatta. Its a huge place with all the stores, workshops and hostels you might imagine from that day.

message 1798: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Petra You make my lists of places i want to visit go longer and longer!
15 minutes and the heater goes on! I can take it, my hands can take it!!!!!! I hope....

message 1799: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Buy buy, because I can't ...yet

Scarpetta is out!!!!! The new Patricia Cornwell!!!!

message 1800: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments :-))))
Fiona, I loved the dockyard there...maybe it is my love or ports, history...I studied transport for my own fun and intrest. I also like the bits of history that you mentioned. Yesterday, I was suprised to read Dickens was from Portsmouth!!!! Had to think about you, before Gr I would have thought: I went there!!!! :-)))
I also love to read about something and then go and find out those bits of history where I live, like I did after reading the book about the WW and the trenches in the village I live in belgium and around. Even made a bike trip with my sister and saw some things related to the first WW. Much more interesting than passing somewhere everyday and not knowing something so important in history happened there. Are important people like Dickens and Doyle were born in the place you live....
