Laura (apenandzen) Wow. Will def. have to make one of these!

message 1652: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Mmm they really look good! I bet my husband would like. Are they usually small like those in the picture?

message 1653: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments I went shopping today and stopped at a place called Tea Rex.
I had a scone and some English
Black tea. This is one of my favorite places to go. It's not that close to my house so I don't get to go there very often but I like to go there around the holidays because I love to by tea for X-mas presents.

message 1654: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Laura, all the mince pies I saw are those small ones, so probably yes.

I am trying to register online at the nearest library here!!!!!!

message 1655: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Good luck Jeane! I hope the libraries there are good and you'll be able to find lots of stuff while you're banned from buying.

Scones! I love scones!

message 1656: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I registered online but need two proves of address which I don't have yet. but they write something that you have to bring in those two proves in 3 months. not sure if that means that I can borrow books already.....

Hello! Was busy now I'm back.

Don't work retail during the holidays! Ann has it so right! I worked clothing for several years. I absolutely hated it & oh my poor feet. The overtime money was great but the messes and angry people!!!!!!!

message 1658: by [deleted user] (new)

Jessica I hope you are able to survive black Friday!

message 1659: by [deleted user] (new)

Lori thanks for the link on the Body World. That was the exhibit I was talking about but so totally forgot the name.

message 1660: by [deleted user] (new)

The mince pie looks yummy!

message 1661: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments It is sooooo cold here!!! which is unusual for us in the south. I have been out and about all day, and now I am catching up on the posts, and then climbing in my bed to get warm, and to read my PEOPLE mag. with Hugh Jackman on it!!!! I love him! I can't wait to see the movie AUSTRALIA!!

message 1662: by [deleted user] (new)

When we go to visit family on the holiday I should make mince pies! Sounds yummy!

message 1663: by [deleted user] (new)

It's cold here but that is typical for the midwest!

message 1664: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) Jeane - Irish tea is supposed to be fantastic. I don't know why though but they are supposed to get the pick of the crop.

I love mincemeat pies but somehow they don't go with the tropical weather. I wish there was a mincemeat icecream. Maybe Ben n Jerry's could make one.

message 1665: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Fiona I also alwayswant to remember so many things from the books I read and sometimes do copy something somehwere.
The autumn in italy was cold but less than normally, so probably winter will be the same. Ireland seems to have a cold autumn....

Petra, gonna try out the tea here I guess..but I want lipton and twinnings tea!!!!!

Fiona, feeling sick means a day of staying in bed, drink lots of tea ans read a lot1

What is black friday?

message 1666: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Shout her out of bed. I guess i am going to be so nice and prepare hime a cup of coffee.

message 1667: by Liz M (new)

Liz M Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving and the "traditional" start to the holiday shopping season in the states.

message 1668: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Where do you read those things???????
it is soooo cold here and nooo fire place.....

message 1669: by [deleted user] (new)

Black Firday is the massive shopping day in the US where almost every store has huge bargins. People line up at 3-4 am to go shopping. Most stores open at 6 am. And people get trammpled. Just so much fun! I never go out on black friday. We go to the Zoo! No one is there!

Granted this year I am hoping to find a gameboy or something like that for my son so I'll probably head out to shop. I bought American football pads/shoulder pads to make sure I don't suffer too much physical damage!

message 1670: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeane I don't have fireplace either. Space heaters work not as good!

message 1671: by [deleted user] (new)

Tape worms are gross!

Fiona, some people are dragged off to the hospital. Especially if you go to Walmart. My friend go hurt, huge black eye a few years ago at Walmart at 6 am. Not missing much!

message 1672: by [deleted user] (new)

Thus the reason I absolutely hate using public rest rooms.

Okay, I would love to stay but I have to pick my father up from the airport. Thus I won't be online while he is visiting. I haven't seen my father for a year. Very excited. My kids are excited to see Grandpa!

message 1673: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Have fun Emilee!

I love it when you guys go off about public potties. I'm sorry, it's just funny as crap.

message 1674: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Oops! No pun intended!!

HEE HEE

message 1675: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) Mincemeat back in Queen Elizabeth I's day did contain meat. Here are the original ingredients:

Three quarters of a pound of ground Veal
Quarter of a pound of beef suet, finely chopped
2 cups of mince apples
Salt, pepper, nutmeg, mace, cloves and cinnamon
3 Egg yolks, hard boiled
1 teaspoon of Rose water
1 teaspoon of Sugar
1 teaspoon of finely minced Orange peel
1 teaspoon of finely minced Lemon peel
2 tablespoons of currants
8 Dates, pitted and minced
8 Prunes, pitted and minced

If you leave out the meat and eggs the modern product contains all the rest of the ingredients.

message 1676: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) I don't have a fireplace either, I have airconditioning :-D

Its winter here too. Its only 74 today instead of about 78. Temp. doesn't vary that much, only about 5 degrees summer and winter.

message 1677: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments no black friday for me. don't really like shopping if it isn't in bookshops or sport clothes shopes. get bored after maybe an hour...

message 1678: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments go and watch it now and eat in the meantime too. we are going to prepare our first pasta here! a new challenge!

message 1680: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) I think they eat a lot of cabbage too.

message 1681: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Petra, I took some red cabbage yesterday in superquinn. they had different kind of fresh salads prepared and after I ate it for the first time that way at work in London, I loved it!

Give me some time to find out by experience...when I have a job I can start to experiment a bit...

message 1682: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) Salmon caesar salad - one of my specialities. I don't have many because I don't cook, but since this requires not much cooking and even less washing up I can do it.

message 1683: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments I love how you guys go from bathroom etiquette to tapeworms to food!
My dog had a tapeworm when she was a puppy.
It came from flea larve.
It was gross!

Emilee!
We will miss you!
Hope you have a great time with your Dad!!

message 1684: by Epee (new)

Epee (epers) Emilee I bet you pop in to see what is happening! Have a wonderful time with your Dad.

message 1685: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Come on, Fiona, you gotta get pumped for this girl!

*cheering, waving pom poms*

message 1686: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Yes, they beat the Eagles! I am actually surprised they won, but now they are 7-4, and may make it into the playoffs - with a rookie quarterback.

Good day for the Ravens. Defense allowed 0 points. Awesome.

message 1687: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Thanks! It's harder to see from a distance, but I like it closeup.

Good luck w/your tooth. I'm going to the dentist tomorrow too, but just for a cleaning. I still don't like it tho.

message 1688: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) That's his dog Max. I like that picture of him.

message 1689: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) OMG yes! You have to see the cartoon! It's a stitch! And if you play the drinking game where you have a shot every time they say "Who", you'll be rip-roaring drunk by the end too!

message 1690: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I think I may keep this one for awhile - from when he sees the light at the end and his grinchy heart grows three sizes.

message 1691: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Is that a snake eye? Can't be an alligator or a croc can it?

message 1692: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Hmm.. Okay.....

it's interesting, for sure!

message 1693: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Oops, just ran into the wall there.

*brushes off cobwebs*

message 1696: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) If you have an infection gargle with warm water and salt or water and hydrogen peroxide. That usually helps to cut the infection quickly.

message 1697: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments You know what the negative point is of trying not to take plastic bags in the supermarket and put everything in your trekking bag? It gets heavy, your shoulders and neck hurt because you walked back home by foot and then you have a headache. But you took a bag less!!!!

message 1698: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments take a lot of painkillers before going to the interview!!! Good luck and be optmistic, it can only go better and you can only get the job, not losing it.

message 1699: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments How 'bout soaking your tooth with some liquor? (Brandy, Scotch, Whiskey...) That should numb it pretty good.
An old time remedy that works pretty good.
You may not want to do it right before your interview.
It may help put you to sleep though :)

message 1700: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Just make sure you don't drink the liquor! If you're on antibotics it makes a bad combo. You don't want to be loopy on your interview. LOL.

What job are you going for?
