I went shopping today and stopped at a place called Tea Rex.I had a scone and some English
Black tea. This is one of my favorite places to go. It's not that close to my house so I don't get to go there very often but I like to go there around the holidays because I love to by tea for X-mas presents.
Laura, all the mince pies I saw are those small ones, so probably yes.I am trying to register online at the nearest library here!!!!!!

I registered online but need two proves of address which I don't have yet. but they write something that you have to bring in those two proves in 3 months. not sure if that means that I can borrow books already.....

Don't work retail during the holidays! Ann has it so right! I worked clothing for several years. I absolutely hated it & oh my poor feet. The overtime money was great but the messes and angry people!!!!!!!

It is sooooo cold here!!! which is unusual for us in the south. I have been out and about all day, and now I am catching up on the posts, and then climbing in my bed to get warm, and to read my PEOPLE mag. with Hugh Jackman on it!!!! I love him! I can't wait to see the movie AUSTRALIA!!
When we go to visit family on the holiday I should make mince pies! Sounds yummy!

Jeane - Irish tea is supposed to be fantastic. I don't know why though but they are supposed to get the pick of the crop. I love mincemeat pies but somehow they don't go with the tropical weather. I wish there was a mincemeat icecream. Maybe Ben n Jerry's could make one.
Fiona I also alwayswant to remember so many things from the books I read and sometimes do copy something somehwere.The autumn in italy was cold but less than normally, so probably winter will be the same. Ireland seems to have a cold autumn....

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving and the "traditional" start to the holiday shopping season in the states.
Where do you read those things???????it is soooo cold here and nooo fire place.....
Black Firday is the massive shopping day in the US where almost every store has huge bargins. People line up at 3-4 am to go shopping. Most stores open at 6 am. And people get trammpled. Just so much fun! I never go out on black friday. We go to the Zoo! No one is there!
Granted this year I am hoping to find a gameboy or something like that for my son so I'll probably head out to shop. I bought American football pads/shoulder pads to make sure I don't suffer too much physical damage!

Mincemeat back in Queen Elizabeth I's day did contain meat. Here are the original ingredients:Three quarters of a pound of ground Veal
Quarter of a pound of beef suet, finely chopped
2 cups of mince apples
Salt, pepper, nutmeg, mace, cloves and cinnamon
3 Egg yolks, hard boiled
1 teaspoon of Rose water
1 teaspoon of Sugar
1 teaspoon of finely minced Orange peel
1 teaspoon of finely minced Lemon peel
2 tablespoons of currants
8 Dates, pitted and minced
8 Prunes, pitted and minced
If you leave out the meat and eggs the modern product contains all the rest of the ingredients.
I don't have a fireplace either, I have airconditioning :-DIts winter here too. Its only 74 today instead of about 78. Temp. doesn't vary that much, only about 5 degrees summer and winter.
no black friday for me. don't really like shopping if it isn't in bookshops or sport clothes shopes. get bored after maybe an hour...
go and watch it now and eat in the meantime too. we are going to prepare our first pasta here! a new challenge!
don't know yet. only here since wednesday afternoon and first days have been cleaning, buying stuff for the room and so on. and tomorrow it is job hunting.... but somebody said to me they ate a lot of salmon whne they came to ireland once...

Petra, I took some red cabbage yesterday in superquinn. they had different kind of fresh salads prepared and after I ate it for the first time that way at work in London, I loved it!Give me some time to find out by experience...when I have a job I can start to experiment a bit...
Salmon caesar salad - one of my specialities. I don't have many because I don't cook, but since this requires not much cooking and even less washing up I can do it.

If you have an infection gargle with warm water and salt or water and hydrogen peroxide. That usually helps to cut the infection quickly.
You know what the negative point is of trying not to take plastic bags in the supermarket and put everything in your trekking bag? It gets heavy, your shoulders and neck hurt because you walked back home by foot and then you have a headache. But you took a bag less!!!!
take a lot of painkillers before going to the interview!!! Good luck and be optmistic, it can only go better and you can only get the job, not losing it.
How 'bout soaking your tooth with some liquor? (Brandy, Scotch, Whiskey...) That should numb it pretty good.An old time remedy that works pretty good.
You may not want to do it right before your interview.
It may help put you to sleep though :)
Just make sure you don't drink the liquor! If you're on antibotics it makes a bad combo. You don't want to be loopy on your interview. LOL.What job are you going for?
