Yes. Think about what American foods you might like to try. I still have to send you that book, and I'd like to include some other stuff since I have to send a box anyhow. Tell me what you like. Do you prefer sweet foods to salty?
Every time I come back on this site, I feel like there are 100+ posts to catch up on with this thread! You girls are talkers!
It's hard to write this much in such a short amount of time. I prefer to write when the mood strikes me.
Okay-I leave for 3 hours and come back to 62 posts. How will I ever get caught up?
Jessica I know how you feel. I hate going to work because I know that I will be excessively behind. I just wish I could get paid to chat on GR all day. What a nice job that would be.
Okay just online babbling to myself. La de da!!!
Did somebody say clotted cream? All I can get out here are those little bottles of Double Devon Clotted Cream or a can of Nestle's put in the fridge. Not the same. Scones, jam and clotted cream. Its kind of like a dream....Laura clotted cream (other than consistency) is absolutely nothing like cream cheese.
I like beans too. I live on chick peas and lentils. I don't like the effect though and no one else does either.
lmao... my favorite part of that song:"When I eat beans, I sit in my own little cloud -- Nobody comes to visit me, in my little cloud...I don't know why, maybe it's 'cause I'm cuttin' muffins...
I hate all beans.I think English "digestive biscuits" are like our shortbread cookies. I know their biscuits are our cookies.
Our bisciuts are light and fluffy that are so good with butter and honey, or jam, or syrup. yummy...
Now I am hungry...
But not for beans.
lol@DarlaAmerican biscuits are more like plain English scones but only like, not identical. Shortbread cookies in the US are identical to shortbread in the UK; they don't resemble digestive biscuits at all. The closest the US has to digestives is Graham crackers, not the same but very similar.
Biscuits and cookies aren't the same at all. A biscuit (in the UK) is hard and often crunchy. Cookies tend to be soft and often chewy.
One thing I miss is chip butties. There is nothing like a chip butty made with doorstep bread and Heinz ketchup and thick-sliced golden chips.
We just drink our tea. I usually go stron with teh tee sometimes I add honey. But a lot of Americans perfer coffee.
My Honors English teacher in High School actually brought us English Biscuits. I actually know what they are. Our cookies are excessively sweet usually.
It's funny how different the world is on food.

I don't like American tea very much. Its made with hot water not boiling and the tea bags themselves are not good strong Indian tea. I like my tea made in a pot and with milk not lemon. However Americans make wonderful coffee, the best. What I want to know is why do Americans ask if you want 'sugar and cream' with tea or coffee when they mean sugar and milk?
Sometimes, it is cream. Or at least, half cream half milk (half & half). It is completely weird how different food is. Why can't the same word at least mean the same thing? This I don't understand.
Petra, is your barbie w/curlers today?
Gemma - Of course you've been missed, you're a staple around here!Heather - How's EoE coming along? I decided to abandon Curious in favor of History of Love and Book Thief.
Curious just seemed okay. Not sure if I'll keep on w/it because of the others waiting. I would if i had nothing else to read tho.Fiona - I thought you'd be gone for quite awhile! That was quick. And you saw a sheep? Nice! Aren't they pretty common in England tho (at least the rural parts)?
That's it. It's the UK that adds - but only Northern Ireland? Not all of Ireland? You're right. So confusing!
I hope Jeane is doing well w/her move. I guess I should probably actually get something done today.
BAH
YAY 36 more pages!!!!I'm so excited!
That's OK I just checked in to update GR to show the 3 books I am now reading.
I thought I dogeared my books and wrote on here as much but then I looked at them and realised that I actually put the jacket flap in the hardbacks and its only the paperbacks I dogear.
I take jacket flaps off while reading, to keep them in good shape.Jeez I never thought I was OCD before, might have to reconsider that one.
I used to take some of the jackets off but they curl so much in the tropical humidity they look really bad when I put them back on. I could put them under a heavy book to start with but then I'd have to remember which one and that's a lot of action.
Just wanted everyone to know that I finally have my Masters in School Counseling... I went for my final interview tonight (also known as a defense, but interview is so much nicer sounding) and I passed!! So excited!!! Yea me!
Thank you Jessica! I am so happy to finally be finished. I will be able to spend so much more time on GR!

(Hey if you knew the story - I've eliminated alcohol, cigarettes (well that was long ago), white sugar and white flour, Triscuits (whole wheat) and c.c. is about all I have left!)
