I'm glad to know I'm not the only one!

Maranda (addlebrained_reader) (mannadonn) | 133 comments Fiona,

That's so funny! I definitely work best under pressure. If a paper is due at midnight I won't even start it until 8 or 9 the evening it is due! Some of my best work has happened that way!

message 1453: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) That sounds so good! I made a sour cream coffee cake (didn't have sour cream, so used plain yogurt and light mayonnaise instead), and it turned out so good! I could eat that all day. Haven't even been craving c.c. lately.

message 1454: by [deleted user] (new)

I come back & now I'm hungry reading all the threads. I have chocolates. Okay why am I always so hungry?

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments I missed happy hour. I love their cream pie shakes. I am going to make my hubby go and get me one later. Yummy...

I lived in England from 1970-1974 when my Dad was in the Navy. We never made it to Ireland, but I wish we could have went.

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments Great idea Fiona!
I'm gonna do that.

message 1463: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I don't usually visit postsecret.com, but love the books. They are fascinating!

Anything I find in library books just really intrigues me for some reason. even if it was only their receipt for what else they checked out. Sometimes I use it for book recs!

message 1464: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Are you reading something else that takes place in Russia, Fiona? Where did I get a Russia feeling from you? Or is it just my insomnia talking (again).

message 1465: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) That's where I got it....okay, thought maybe I was losing (even more) touch with reality there.... So Guernsey on Tuesday???
:)
:)

Maranda (addlebrained_reader) (mannadonn) | 133 comments Sadester,

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's a television show that used to be on the WB...It was pretty popular for a while and there was even a cheesy movie the show was based off of. It starred Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Maranda (addlebrained_reader) (mannadonn) | 133 comments Fiona,

I agree with you! I love that show. I actually own all the DVD's...I think after this discussion I may have to go watch them again.

If you want a good show series that has a lot to do with books (I have a list from that show alone) you should try to check out the "Gilmore Girls"

message 1468: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeane: hopefully you won't miss too many posts!

message 1469: by [deleted user] (new)

Cute post-it link Fiona. I so want to do that!

message 1470: by [deleted user] (new)

Fiona: how is Red Dust. I wonder if I should add it to my TBR list!

message 1471: by [deleted user] (new)

I think the Buffy show was better then the movie! I think that I am again typing to myself.

message 1472: by [deleted user] (new)

So, I think no one is online. Therefore, I will have an ice cream reading break.

message 1473: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) I like the postit note. Maybe I will put one in all the books I sell. What could I write on them to make people smile (and buy more books)? Any ideas?

message 1474: by Tricia (new)

Tricia Mcwilliams | 28 comments Hi Fiona,

message 1476: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Emilee, if you manage to have Fiona her internet dead or whateer for some days, I might manage better.

Fiona, we will have internet immediately, normally but:
won't be home much in the beginning and while now I use the normal pc and my boyfriend his laptop, thee we will use his laptop in two. the problem is that I can do many other things than being busy on the internet. Him: playing computer games, watch tv and that's it. So will have to be nice about using time on it:-)

sadester, yes till wednesday I live in Italy...then to Dublin.

message 1477: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Okay, I am of to Pesaro today, so you girls be good on here!!!! Go and read and write!!!!!!!

Jeane: Fiona, laura & I will have to take it easy. Good thing it's monday I have to work in the day.

Good Luck on the move.

Fiona: I'm adding it. I need to live to be 85 or older. I better stop eating junk food! Like that would ever happen.

message 1479: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) I hope all goes well with your move Jeane and I hope to see you back on here in a couple of days.

message 1480: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Hi Fiona - like your new eye - what is it? Another owl? A snowy owl, perhaps?

Maranda (addlebrained_reader) (mannadonn) | 133 comments Awakeness sucks....need coffee...

Congrats, Maranda! I wish I was where you were...I should be getting some work done today.

:(

message 1483: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Glad you're enjoying Red Dust, Fiona. Anytime a book gets a hug, it's a good book.

Hmm, have to add that one to my TBR!

message 1484: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) How much do I have to know about S. African politics/govt. etc (cuz I know nada) in order to like the book?

message 1485: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Good! Whatcha reading next Fiona?

G or PS?

message 1486: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) *dancing around*

(well, not really)

but smiling alot!

message 1487: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I love that, Fiona!

LOL

*hides it*

If I could just *hide* GR I might be getting something done here!

Think of it this way, the quicker you finish RD, the quicker you can start G.

message 1488: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Red Dust, Guernsey and Good Reads (and PS is Prodigal Summer)

message 1489: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) I'm so bored I'm hanging on to HP's chat line looking for reformat info and I've been on for seventeen minutes and got nowhere. I've never had much luck with help lines so I don't know why I bother.

message 1490: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I guess I do too because that's still what I think.

OOOOOOh, Hewlett Packard!
Now I get it!

message 1491: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Poor sadester....we are making it crazy don't we. Just hang on and keep asking whatever you don't know!

Hey everybody, tomorrow i should be home the whole day and as I am practically ready for the move but my boyfriend didn't even start: time for TNBBC!!!!!!! But not late in the eving because I need my sleep and we leave from ehre at 4.30 a.m.!!!!!
They should forbid that!

I thought happy hour was about pubs having between certain hours that when you ask one drink you get a second one for free...that's how it works in belgium....

message 1492: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Fiona, without me saying anything he came in te room and told me he promises to prepare his bag tomorrow during the day. I told him he can do it whenever he wants but I am ready to leave wednesday morning!

Fiona, that means I will probably only ready your posts after that a little bit and then in
Dublin!!!!!! Oh but...hehe, that means a day less of catching up of your posts, which is already a lot!!!! Thanks!

message 1493: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Fiona - you mean you actually have a life? We'll miss you tomorrow.

message 1494: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I think the Big Q is: Will you be finishing up RD tonight, my darlink?

message 1495: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) YAY Fiona! Way to go!

I think I'm going to actually set reading goals for 2009, and I'd like to consult with Ken about planning out my non-fiction reading. He is so smart about things I need to be more smart about, and he doesn't mind writing long msgs., so I thought he'd be a good person to check with first.

message 1496: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) Fiona what happened to your blue but evil eye avi? You changed fast!

I started the chat with HP saying I wanted to reformat an old machine and didn't have the disks. 35 mins. later the stupid woman 'helping' me asks me if I've got the disks that came with the machine for the third time. No I told her yet again and she said I could repurchase XP for $150. Yeah right, on a four or five year old machine!

Harry Potter would have magickally reformatted the damn machine. btw There's nothing wrong with it, just runs too slow.

message 1497: by Darla (new)

Darla (sylvanfox) | 573 comments Holy crap... it got quiet in here...

message 1498: by Darla (new)

Darla (sylvanfox) | 573 comments ok, so at one point in time I came across a thread where a person was looking for a book but didn't have the title/author, and someone replied that there was a group that specializes in figuring out what book it would be.... Anyone know what that group was?

This short film just popped in my head and I'm almost positive it was a short story first. It may be a Jack London, but I could be totally off track.

I remember watching this film, way back in elementary school. There was no talking in it (I don't think) and it was about a guy who was stranded in a blizzard in the middle of nowhere. The whole thing was about his plight to stay alive. He had like one match and he couldn't get it lit. It's so weird, because I only remember a little bit about it, but his hands fumbling with that match is a vivid image in my head.

Anyone have any ideas?

message 1499: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) Sounds like there would be a chorus of silly voices about now and it would turn into a Monty Python sketch.

message 1500: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments darla, I thinkt the group is What's The Name of That Book???

I read the whole morning!!!! need to elave my boyfriend alone when he is preparing his luggage, so I stood in front of the fire place the whole morning and read!!!!! Almost finished!!!!
