Angela | 1934 comments I was laughing so hard when I read it. I have a lot of friends that have their first and second children and I should send it to them for a good laugh.

message 1252: by Angela (new)

Angela | 1934 comments Emilee- that is why I stay in the suburbs. My husband drives to Chicago almost everyday and I do not know how he does it.

message 1253: by Angela (new)

Angela | 1934 comments Fiona yours was just as funny... I work in customer service so I could relate to all things mentioned!

message 1254: by [deleted user] (new)

I live in the burbs but work in Cook County. I can't believe that I didn't cream the lady who cut me off driving 35. I have learn how to avoid accidents! I really wish I could work from home!

Fiona, you might need a mouthmuff!

message 1255: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I liked Charity's too, and I had never seen it before, thanks for posting it Angela!

My favorite of Fiona's is

"Please place poo in toilet as well. Not on."

I know, I'm crazy, but that is the BEST!

message 1256: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh yes we need a headmuff! LOL! I can picture it now a super puffy skimask w/o any holes!

message 1257: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I think Fiona needs a BUTTMUFF

LOL

:)

:)

message 1258: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Oh and my favorite of Charity's was this:

3rd baby: You spend a little bit of every day hiding from the children.

I only have 1 and feel that way myself! And she's 17 !!!

message 1259: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Oh Fiona, if you could hear me now! Your cold little owl eye, next to that line when I refreshed the page.

I'm almost doubled over!

message 1260: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh well the other day Laura, I told you how I was pretty lucky w/my teens. I put my foot in my mouth. That night my 14 yr old told me how she is busy at school and can't do her chores. That turned into a fun arguement.

I do however love hiding from the kids. I just have to turn off the cell phone & dress different and go about 100 miles away. Under an assumed name!

message 1261: by [deleted user] (new)

Must get food. Need food. Need food now!

message 1262: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Oh my sweet Lord. My little Drama Queen. She's much better tonight. But that's the thing. You never know, can never, ever predict, how she'll be.

Hence the need to read and re-read Fiona's poo comments!

message 1263: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Can I interest you in some cream cheese on Triscuits????

What has It got in Its pocketsessssss?

message 1264: by [deleted user] (new)

Laura: Curious Incident is a must own!

message 1268: by [deleted user] (new)

Should I read or stay on GR????

message 1269: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Thanks, Emilee...I've actually been wanting to read that one for years. When I first got it (from a wait list HOLD mind you), I was working FT and going to school almost FT and so I didn't have any TIME to read it.

Now I can breathe a sigh of relief.

I hate being bookless.

message 1270: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments No problem Laura. You should see the books I actually have laying around my house that are sreaming for me to pick them up!! I need more tome in the day to read them!!

Laura (apenandzen) Very punny, Ann, more TOME in the day

message 1272: by [deleted user] (new)

I so wish I had more time to read. If I could have a job that would pay me to read for 8 hours.

message 1273: by [deleted user] (new)

I finish second dinner. Grab first desert & everyone leaves?????

Fiona???

Laura????

Oh now, I'm crying! Tissues please!!!

message 1274: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) OK - Heather, Jeane and Fiona ALL have the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime in their TBR. Who wants to move it from TBR to the Currently Reading ? ? ? ? ?

*blinks eyes rapidly*

Hmm?????????

message 1275: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Oh and I vote this thread be changed from the Random Thoughts thread to the TNBBC Chat Room.

Heck, it's always wanted to be something else when it grew up anyway.

message 1276: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments I can't spell... tome, time...whatever it takes...lol

message 1277: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I think it was a Freudian slip!

:)

message 1278: by [deleted user] (new)

We all mistype-isn't that butterfingers!?

I loved Curious Incident. Great writing great book I think you'll all enjoy it too!

Okay, I must depart. I am seriously going to go read now. I have about an hour before I have to pick up my teen from play practice.

Good night/Good Morning to everyone! Though I might come back shortly.

message 1279: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) I laughed when I read it too. I've had such a boring evening ordering text books. Looking for an exact year of publication for a load of books about the Cold war isn't fascinating at all. Then of course they won't send out to the islands. Pain... so I'm glad to reread Fiona's funny.

message 1280: by [deleted user] (new)

Fiona: you so funny! Love it! I dislike cell phones too! I've been turning mine off a lot lately.

Petra: Ordering text books, Yeah! I would be side tracked by GR very easily!

message 1281: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Fiona, stop making me jealous!!! You watch all the programs I used to watch in the past in Belgium with my sister!!!!!!:-)
I remember Heartbeat, it was so different than most police series that time... Didn't realize it was set beginning 70's.
I made my boyfriend's dad like Inspector Barnaby a couple of weeks ago. he likes police/crime series but doens't know the english ones. So I told him a bit about what it was. Did you sue to watch Inspector Morse? Loved it! When living in Nottingham I bought the whole boxs of Morse books:original price about 99£, got it for 9.99£ !!!!!!!

I used to always watch CSI Miami or another version but when I was alone in London during the night, too much 'fantasy' similar to what happened in the serie came to me...

message 1282: by [deleted user] (new)

I use to watch CSI Miami & NY. Good shows.

Okay I need to go now got to get the children up for school and get ready for work.

Plus I haven't had first breakfast.

message 1283: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Emilee, remember it for later that you want your kids to be able to drive themselves!!!!

I love the birth changes!!!!! Poor parents! You know what i never understand? When parents don't agree with something of their chilcren or they aren't thankful enough or whatever and the parents say: you should be glad I ...for you! But dad/mum...I didn't asked to be born, you decided it! I mean the parents decided they want a baby..... no?:-))))

You girls seemed to have had a lot of fun yesterday...this morning

I got a new book, for free!!!!!!!! And I still have my liquid mascarpone in the fridge but shoudn't eat it...later int he afternoon going to have a cup of tea at the house of my boyriend's aunts(think it are his aunts, I am crappy in the family names) and this evening Fagiolata at his sister's place!!!! Shouldn't have aten since this morning.....

Fiona, where is the white chocolate you had for me?

message 1284: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (glinda) | 48 comments I am reading Bleak House right now and loving it. I highly recommend it. There is lots of dry humor along with social commentary that is still relevant today.

message 1285: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I liked your talking to the invisible people at 2 - 3am, Fiona. I guess when I go I should say I'm going, but you always squawk and go pecking at me when I do that, so lately I've been sneaking out when you have your head turned around the OTHER way.

Glad you liked Jane Eyre. Hope Red Dust is good, or you'll be squawking about your next read like I was.

message 1286: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) I was here early in the morning but then there was an emergency - my cats got involved with other cats in a big fight and we had a power outtage so I couldn't see who was doing what to do (I could hear it though) nor could I get online or even read :-(

message 1287: by Ann from S.C. (last edited Nov 14, 2008 08:25AM) (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments It's raining like crazy here and I have got a butt load of stuff I have got to do!! We have had a drought for 3 months, and of course it has to rain on the day I have 10 placed to go to!!

message 1288: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I'm here Fiona. You have Guernsey?

Must.read.right.now! Do not pass GO, Do not collect $200, Fiona!

message 1289: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I didn't know you have Guernsey, I thought you still had to get it.

Guernsey outranks everything!

BAH

*skulks, wishing for big beak and cruel yellow eyes*

message 1290: by Laura (last edited Nov 14, 2008 09:41AM) (new)

Laura (apenandzen) How much farther for the Red Dust, that abominable Dust?

*considers how to get sharp-beaked winged creature into appropriate caged prison device*

message 1291: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) (The owl is so perfect for you, I loved the cat eye, but this one is the BEST for you. I hope you never change.)

message 1292: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) OK, so how soon till you're out of the dust and on the beautiful island of Guernsey. Does your English pride mean nothing?

*ducks ferocious pecking*

message 1293: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) You'll thank me for Guernsey, you Great Horn-ed Beastie!

Let me know when you start on it. It really is wonderment. Rainbow sprinkles, etc.

message 1294: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) Good afternoon Owl and Flower. How are you both today?

message 1295: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Hi Petra, how are you doing. Just back from tons of errands AND picked up Curious Incident of the dog... hope it'll be good. Oh, and 2 Dennis Lehane's (he's always good) - Shutter Island and Coronado. Never heard of the 2nd one.

message 1296: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Hey Fiona - How long did you give the Historian before you gave up on it?

message 1297: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) *pssst, Fiona, msg 1630*

message 1298: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Wait till you hit pre-menopause, you'll REALLY wish you were a guy. My husband is so sick of me telling him he should thank God every day for his penis!

message 1299: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) OK, I didn't know that. I thought you really gave it a go, and wound up not liking it. OK. Hmm. So, I guess I'll do Curious first because it's short. Then move on to either History of Love or Historian. I like vamp stuff. Although I wouldn't've said that before Twilight. And I didn't really like all the other ones, just Twilight itself made me see that vamp ain't all that bad.

message 1300: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Oh, and thanks for that one (#1636). Oh, the thought makes me want to affix a permanent chastity belt.

UGH
