I am totally asking my hubby for that for xmas....although I am sure no one will want to play with me :(

message 1154: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) I have Book-opoly! I also have Christian-opoly (you can only win by co-operation), Princess-opoly (wear pink, its bound to help), Wine-opoly (getting drunk for intellectuals), Cat-opoly (claws in and play nicely) and all the other opolys too in my bookshop for Christmas. They are all made by a company with a truly wonderful name: Lateforthesky.com where you can see the entire range.

message 1155: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Bookopoly for meeeeee pleeeeease!!!!!!!! I whish I had that, even if nobody wants to play with me!!!!
I did send the link to me and he watched me with his face of: you are disturbed and crazy.

message 1156: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments you don't want to know Fiona!

message 1157: by [deleted user] (new)

Your welcome Jeane.

I think that is the game Santa will bring to our house this year. I'm glad you found it as I went online on my 15 min break at work. Sneaky little weasle I am. So I didn't get to tell you. But you can also get it from: signals.com (I found it in their catalogue

They also have a cute banned books bracelet that I really really want. They also have several cute reading shirts. Lots of fun!!!!!!!!

message 1158: by [deleted user] (new)

Well if none of our family will play book-opoly with us we could do an online thread of a game! That could be fun but interesting.

message 1159: by [deleted user] (new)

My daughter told me the other day that at school the kids were talking about the meals their parents make and I was the only parent that makes home made meals. Everyone else does frozen dinners or fast food. Granted I occassionally do fast food or frozen dinners but I make a lot from scratch.

I love homemade chicken noodle soup. I make the noodles from scratch. I can't buy noodles because it just doesn't taste right.

message 1160: by Melody (new)

Melody | 564 comments Gee that's pretty sad Emilee. We also try and cook from scratch most of the time and maybe heat something up at the end of the week when we are both knackered. The only fast food we buy is fish and chips and maybe a pizza but not every week. There is just so much crap in so much of what you buy these days.

message 1161: by [deleted user] (new)

So true. It's so unhealthy and expensive too.

message 1162: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay so I feel really dumb. Went to you tube to check out Rusted Roots. Oh I've heard them before as a matter of fact my brother has almost all their CD's. So I have listened to them and my kids love the song "Send me on my Way".

Yes I like them. I will need to buy some music or just listen to them on the computer. Plus is I did see several of the video's so that was neat!

message 1163: by Darla (new)

Darla (sylvanfox) | 573 comments lol. I love them even more now that I've seen them in concert. I'm riding high on a Rusted Root kite right now... It will probably be awhile before I gear down again :)

message 1164: by Darla (new)

Darla (sylvanfox) | 573 comments Leppaluoto -- He just retired like last year.... He was a cook, and a damn good one too. He used to have a lot of guys that were off duty come in to eat when he was cooking. He was mostly reserves when he was stationed in Traverse.

message 1165: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Fiona, you know which rule my boyfriend uses: when I am cooking you can't come in the kitchen. The only times he lets me put back my cup is with my eyes closed!!!!

I had a lot of trouble when I first came to England. We lived in Nottingham and first only new about the Tesco there. But 3/4 of the products were already prepared meals. I couldn't find most of the ingredients. And when I would ask something(simple) they wouldn't know it!!!!
I don't mind having once in a while a prepared meal form the shop but it is really once in a while.

Emilee, stop telling about the nice reading related things they have on that website!!!!! :-)

message 1166: by [deleted user] (new)

Sorry Jeane. but they are just so fun. I need to win the lottery! But I don't play it!

message 1167: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Fiona, when I am home I always cook for myself. If you would ever start: make more than for one meal and keep the rest for the next day! You just need to warm it up. Maybe you can start with a simple plate of pasta instead of a pie?

Emilee, if you find out how it works the: winning the lotery when you don't play it, let me know. I have the same thing.

message 1168: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Poor Fiona, she needs to find her knight on the horse to cooke for her.
Are there really so many different kinds of lottery now???? I am not interested in it but thought there was only one kind. besides that in Italy you can play according to city you choose. It seems like multiple mini lotteries.

The game shows these days are for me also really annoying. They don't make them anymore decent or only one or two on tv. Now you have to search to find something else!

message 1169: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Just start looking for someone who can and likes cooking.... it is a great start!

Neeeed to continue need to continue need to continue....

message 1170: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments When we moved to England and for the first time had to arrange together with my boyfriend all the daily chores..I loved it. Grocery shopping is great (at least I come home with what we need and don't use the excuse it was 50% off or 2 for 1 when I buy something spoiling, that's my boyfriend).doing my laundry I adore too....I know I will get many invitations now!!! :-)))

It is great to get e-mail reminders to win books, but I also want to get the ones when you have won them!!!!!!

I am going to congratulate myself: I read almost 25 pages of Moby Dick today!!!!! yahoooooo

message 1171: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Don't ask... :-))) I don't want to know because I put all this energy in it to read 25 pages, don't want to loose it by knowing how many still will require my energy.

message 1172: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) I hate cooking. I do it because I don't want my son to have frozen meals (there are no fast-food joints here). I can cook, I cooked in a restaurant but got an offer to fill in for management and that was that, that was so much better. Luckily here the supermarkets are not part of chains and the three of them (yes we have three supermarkets on the island!) all have food take-away counters where the food is proper food - chicken, rice, macaroni cheese, brocolli, lasagne, you get the idea and one of them has a fantastic chef, so we get food from there once a week. I don't like that sort of food, I like chick peas and lentils and couscous so I cook my own.

Pot noodles or ramen with hot marmite and petit-pois and parmesan are delish.

message 1173: by Daybook (new)

Daybook | 66 comments I like ramen dry. Its nice and crunchy.

message 1174: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Fiona, one chapter a week...it looks it will go on then even longer than ages! I am jsut going to force myself to super read time almost each day. Like today, wow 25 pages!!!!!
Oh well, we will see what I end up doing ....

message 1175: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments chuck chuck.....

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments Darla!! I'd say congratulations are in order!!! (The doing a happy jig kinda gave it away!) lol

I try and cook as much as I can. But I have 1 kid who will eat anything I cook, and 1 who is so picky, I have become a short order cook so he won't die of starvaton!! Tonight, I am making a chicken pie from scratch. Yummy!! The picky kid will get a bacon sandwich...

message 1180: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Fiona, my bastard boyfriend sits in the room with the fire place with his laptop so he doesn't get coooold at all!!!!

message 1181: by Malena (new)

Malena (badgalmalmal) Starbucks Dark Choc Cherry Mocha.

Need one now!

message 1182: by Darla (new)

Darla (sylvanfox) | 573 comments Congrats are definitely in order... I've only screwed my paperwork up 4 times (I swear I'm not slow, divorce papers just suck to fill out) so this thing that should have taken 3 months took a year and a half (because in between screwing up my paperwork I was a little lazy, too).

My girls are taking me out tomorrow night. I might actually have a drink and everything!(which is unheard of for me anymore)

*still dancing a happy jig*

message 1183: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) Congratulations Darla, I sooooo feel for you.

I've been separated 10 years with no child support and a violent ex. He sued me for divorce in July 2007 but since I was awarded the grand sum of $350 a month in Feb. every time it comes up again in court when I might get more, it gets put off again. Last week was the last time it was put off. I so wish it was over.

message 1184: by Darla (new)

Darla (sylvanfox) | 573 comments ha ha! Thanks guys. It feels good to be free of him at last!

Petra...That totally sucks. I think that we should start a fundraiser for you here on TNBBC... If we raised enough money, we could take a hit out on him for you... ;)

message 1185: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh here in Illinois/USA there are too many different lotteries. I wouldn't know how to start or where to end or what not. I'll stick to buying books.

Fiona you could visit my house for homecookin'.

message 1186: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeane if you do one chapter a week in Moby Dick think of all the books you can read inbetween.

message 1187: by [deleted user] (new)

Have fun on your trip Kelli!

message 1188: by [deleted user] (new)

Darla Congrats!!!!!!!!! How long did your divorce take? I am in the middle/end who know of mine. It's so far been 11 1/2 months.

message 1189: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay Darla read a little further. Sounds like a normal mid-west divorce! Go out have fun & enjoy the single life! Yeah!!! :)

message 1190: by [deleted user] (new)

Petra: I am soooooo sorry that just stinks! Your ex sounds like mine!

message 1191: by [deleted user] (new)

Ken we need to clone you for all us divorcee's!

message 1192: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay, no one is online. I am going to go eat & read.

message 1193: by [deleted user] (new)

So true Fiona!

message 1194: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Congratulations Darla! I'm very happy for you.

Can I divorce my teenager?

message 1195: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) OMG she sounds like my husband. UGH. Sometimes, I wonder if I was dropped into this household by really evil aliens. Where did these people come from? How did I wind up with them? I really wonder.

message 1196: by [deleted user] (new)

Laura: is it that bad? I know they can give us a run. I think I'm pretty lucky with my teens but we are in the early pre-driving years.

Okay Fiona how old is the sweeper upper?

message 1197: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Don't get me wrong. I really love my husband, but ever since his mom died, he's become a clean freak to the point I go nuts.

My dau is 17, but she is a Drama Queen. And I'm premenopausal. So, not a good combination. I really am looking for calmness. Not crazy, not hyper, not yelling, not freaking out. Calm.

Breathe.

UGH!

message 1198: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments Congrats Darla!!

I'm sitting in the van on the way to Savannah.
My husband has Broadband on his laptop.
It's dark.
All we see are trucks.
I have one child asleep in the back. One is watching a movie.
Almost there...17 miles.

Congrats Darla! I've known a few people who had divorces drag out for a long time, and they say its like a weight has been lifted off them when it finally goes through!

message 1200: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) EEK. We all have our craziness, I guess. But didn't she clean up your room a while back? What did she do, cover everything w/doilies?

(My mother-in-law was like that. She crocheted doilies, so they were everywhere.)
