I usually don't go on line on Tuesdays because after work I have to take the kids all over the place. Wow! over 800 posts!

Thanks for an explanation - you are not the first person I heard having doubts about the Girls Scouts.
Many, many (OMG it is too many) years ago I was a Brownies in the UK. The troop I was in was so innocent and do-gooding.
I can't imagine them sending us round to sell anything - any money we raised was donated to local charities.
We received awards for looking after animals , reading and helping out at home and they tested us on our knowledge of the best way to make a cup of tea!

Oh and Rachel you mentioned Chinese steamed buns - any chance of seeing that recipe?

Esther (eshchory) | 575 comments If eardrops don't work try a teaspoon of warm (not hot!) olive oil.
You need the help of a friend as you have to lie on your side for them to pour it in and then stay that way for a few mins.
My Dr always recommended trying this before syringing as it is quite effective and gentle on the ears.

message 6468: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 510 comments On the ear problem, sometimes hydrogen peroxide works, too--a few drops, lying down and letting it fizzle. However, over the last year I have been having recurrent earaches/infections, and I finally went to a specialist. He diagnosed me with a fungal ear infection (I guess I have athelete's ear), and he put a bunch of creamy medicine in it, told me not to put anything in my ear until I saw him in three weeks. I see him next week again. I've had a few twinges of an ache since he put the medicine in, but I'm hoping it is healing now. So, I guess my point is that I've had the ear wax build-up and had to get the syringe done, but there are so many other things that can be wrong with ears.

message 6469: by Kandice (new)

Kandice My oldest, Shuan has always had problems with his ears. (too numerous to list...) I used to candle his ears at home. They sell the cones for it at Henry's, a kind of organic grocery and homeopath center. It works really well, is easy to do, and not very expensive.

message 6470: by Esther (last edited Mar 13, 2009 02:01PM) (new)

Esther (eshchory) | 575 comments Worst earache I had was when I was a telephone operator in the army. We used an ancient exchange with plugs and cords and no headset. Naturally, grabbing the receiver up to our ear hundreds of times a day, especially when we were tired or irritable, resulted in lots of little knocks.
It hurt like an infection but there was nothing the Doctor could do because the pain came from knocks and bruises not inflammation or infection.

message 6474: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Let us know how that works out for you Tweety!

message 6475: by Kandice (new)

Kandice You could read a Sookie book. Or a J.D. Robb. They are super quick, easy, sexy reads;)

message 6476: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Well, Rachel's right. You could just pick up a gossip rag at the grocery. That's an easy little break. Could be titilating, depending on what the stars are up to this week.

message 6477: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Well, that's every week. I would be hoping for something a little more exciting!

message 6478: by [deleted user] (new)

I think the butt picture made us the naughty thread!

Love it however!

message 6479: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh so glad it's Friday. Long week at work.

I so want a new job, one that I would enjoy. I realize that is extremely rare. Personally I think I should work for a publisher and read books all day long. That would be a fun job. I really should look into that!

message 6480: by Kandice (new)

Kandice You should Emilee, I jut wouldn't hold my breath;)
It was the "Hand in the pants potty picture" that did it in my opinion!

message 6481: by [deleted user] (new)

Rachel:

you wrote "The stupid guy who delivered our new liquid nitrogen tank didn't close the valve all the way and then left, with liquid nitrogen running out all over the floor.:

PLease tell me this was at your work not your home?

I would be utterly depressed for you if it was at home!

message 6482: by [deleted user] (new)

So we are only 56 posts away from 10,000. I think this could be done tonight if a few of us are on!

message 6483: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I'll be here for about 20 minutes, so...

message 6484: by [deleted user] (new)

You better get writing then! ha ha!

message 6485: by [deleted user] (new)

Are you still at work? I know you are a few hours behind me.

message 6486: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Yep. I am stopping at Applebee's on my way home to pick up dinner to go. I never do that, but forgot to plug in the crock pot:( so...

message 6487: by [deleted user] (new)

Yummy!

I made hamburgers tonight. I am stuffed! I really would like dessert but not going to happen unless I want to find out if a person's body can really explode. I ate two burgers, salad & of course cheetoos! Too much food

message 6488: by [deleted user] (new)

That is a good question. We could try for the 20,000 and see if it holds up!

message 6489: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I can't decide if I want 3 cheese chicken penne pasta or Oriental chicken salad? Any ideas?

message 6490: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Brady's getting ribs and Shaun us breaking down and eating mozzarella sticks.

message 6491: by [deleted user] (new)

It is very weird that you can be in different time zones but makes sense since America is very spread out and big.

I hate the time change thing. My Aunt lives in Arizona and they don't participate I hate when I accidently call her on CA time and wake her up really early in the morning. She is either two or three time zones away from me. I can't ever remember what time it is there.

I would actually rather that we didn't change time in the spring. I really hate it.

Do you change the time in England?

message 6492: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Yuck! They do have a bacon cheddar burger.

message 6493: by Kandice (last edited Mar 13, 2009 05:37PM) (new)

Kandice I wish they would get rid of the Spring one too, but then we would be just falling back an hour every year.

message 6494: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I don;t mind getting off work when it's lighter, but I hate getting up when it's dark.

message 6495: by [deleted user] (new)

I love mozzarella sticks!

Alas my stomach will explode if I think of food.

message 6496: by [deleted user] (new)

In 2007 they changed it from the first weekend of April to the first weekend in March. I don't like that really messes with my mind.

It use to be the weekend of my birthday so I never forgot to change my clock. Well I forgot this year and we were late for church.

message 6497: by Kandice (new)

Kandice No one suggested which choice they thought was better. I could also get a shrimp or chicken strip basket.

message 6498: by [deleted user] (new)

both sound really good. Eat extra for me! I am no help am I?

message 6499: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Well, not in this instance. Really. No.

I'm getting pasta. I'm starved and that always fills me to bursting.

message 6500: by Kandice (new)
