I need help remembering the title of a book too!

I can't remember the name of a book. It sounded really good. I don't know the author's name either.
It's sci-fi, I think. It's about... something. I know, I know, I'm being really helpful.
I think it's called something like "Has this ever happened to you?" and I think it's about a guy who answers an ad in the paper and suddenly there's stuff happening which is crazy and weird.
I'm pretty sure that the author just released a new book that has something to do with refridgerators. Both of the books sound weird and awesome.
Can ANYONE figure out what I'm talking about? Thanks for your help in advance.

OK, I figured it out on my own. It's called "Outrageous Fortune". The other book by the author is called "Love in the Time of Fridges". I found the second book, so I found the first.
So, now the question is: Can anyone tell me if this is any good? The reviews on here seem mixed.
