Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Does this plot sound familiar? I don't remember much, but this is a really scary vampire story.

Plot: A man, woman, and their 10-ish-year-old son live a simple life out in the country. She's a big, blonde Scandinavian, I believe.

A coffin is delivered in the area, and while the man and boy know to stay away from it, the woman doesn't, and she's called to it. She tries to resist but eventually she opens it and is under the vampire's power and tries to turn her family and others in the village.

I can't remember much after that. I know the plot sounds like every vampire plot in existence, but I'd love to find it again. I used to own it but got rid of it. I remember it having a great, spooky cover. I think I actually didn't want it in my house because it bothered me, but, psycho that I am, I want it back.

Will Errickson (wille) Hmmm... I'm trawling back through my mind, but this doesn't ring any bells.

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Well, I'm sucking at explaining the plot. Sounds like every other vampire plot.

It's a very atmospheric book. I can remember the coffin stopping in a remote area, and the boy's mother going out in some kind of a trance after dark several nights in her gown to try to break open the coffin. I can remember being disappointed in her because she I liked her strong character and her loving relationship with her husband and son.

I can remember the boy teaming up with another adult villager and going into an underground lair in order to kill the villagers who had been turned. That's an intense scene and overall the book is chilling.

I think it has a one-word title; can't be sure, though.
