same. and then someone asks me about a certain part and I'm like waaattt??????
I cryed my eyes out over prim's (and finnicks') death. I didn't really understand what was going on until Katniss spoke out it. I re-read the part when prim died and I cryed all through out the rest of the book; especially when katniss yelled at Buttercup saying shes never gonna come home & when peeta planted primrose flowers in front of the house. Awh I balled my eyes out like no other.
Really liked Prim as a character but authors do have characters die in their novels so I shrugged it off and moved on. My favorite book in the series was the second one. However, I really felt that the first one, The Hunger Games, could stand alone if one didn't want to read the series.

ya i was in a rush 2 read it cause i had it forever and still never read it and i just cant rember it now lol
I cried loads in the Mockingjay! (I tend to cry in books quite a bit) It was quite annoying how so many characters died, but it does make it a little more realistic than if none of them had died, seeing how they were in a war and everything. Even so, I agree Mockingjay wasn't as good as the first 2 books. :'(
Also, it was really rushed at the end. Like, Finnick's death only lasted like one paragraph, and they hardly even mentioned it again after that. Prim's could have been made really emotional, like Rue's. And Katniss should have been a bit sadder about Gale, and he wouldn't have just left and never seen her again. It was a bit of a dumb ending, but I was happy Peeta and Katniss got together. (:

I cried. It tore my heart up. To me it felt like the ultimate torture. After everything Katniss went through to protect her in the end it didn't matter. The fact that Gale was responsible floored me as well.
I didn't cry, because I was to shocked. I had about 1 second to realize it was Prim, and then she was dead. it definitely made me really upset, though. Angry.
I didn't cry at that part, by my jaw definitely dropped...literally! I thought that only happened in books! However, I did cry at the very end because I was SOOOOOOOOOO MAD!!!!! (Peeta and Katniss = EWWW!) Mockingjay was such a total let-down. I wanted more of the original book to be mixed in. Ugh...
i cried when rue died.when prim died, i didn't know she had died at first, it all happened so fast, i was like: "wait, what?" and i had to go back and read it again. and then i was just mad. like wtf? really.

exactly my feelings
Yeah, I won't deny it. I cried when Prim died as well as when Finnick, Cinna, and Rue died.
What a horrible question! I've only read the first book, and now thanks to this spoiler question - the rest of the series is totally ruined - so THANK YOU for that!

Melissa wrote: "Yeah, I won't deny it. I cried when Prim died as well as when Finnick, Cinna, and Rue died."Yeah, I really liked Finnick and Loved Cinna. Its like she pick all our favorite charaters and killed them all. I agree with you guys above the third book sucked. I am surprised she didnt kill her best friend off. OH, Wait, She shoved him out of the picture, he may as well have died.
I agree, but Gale sort of just ran off back to District 2.
GALE MAY HAVE BEEN INADVERTENTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR PRIM'S DEATH, BUT I BET HE WAS EXTREMELY DEVESTATED BY IT AS WELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MJ wrote: "i think he realized that Katniss would never change her mind, which she should have"
Yeah, totally. They would have been so happy together. I think Peeta eventually bores her to death.

I cried when Prim died, but now I wonder if Prim's death was making a statement about the story in general.
Yes, I cried. She was my favourite character, she was a lot smarter than Katniss and everyone else. I'm not sure I would have cried if Katniss had died, I didn't really care about her in the end, I almost wanted her to die.

I loved Finnick and was mad at Collins when she killed him off! I was even more mad when Prim died....PRIM!!! I honestly did cry, i won't deny it."" I cried when Prim died. Many people have stated that it was unnecessary for Finnick to die --- That was the point. Deaths because of this war (and any other) are unnecessary if people would care for each other. The necessity for Finnick's death is that he was fighting for the freedom from the games. He wanted people to treat each other right -- not keep sending children to the games.
Riley wrote: "Yah i loved Prim she was my favorite character, and when Katniss sang that song SO SWEET how could you not"I didn't really notice. . . i plan to read the series again...i was way caught up with all that was going on i'm not sure...lol.
I didn't cry when Prim died. My reasons: 1) I didn't know that Prim died and only found out after Katniss started crying or whatever she did. That bit when Katniss was in a limbo between life and death was confusing for me.
2) The whole book just annoyed me so much I felt like a volcano and wanted to just burn the book. I used up all my feelings quota.
3) We hardly even notice Prim until she suddenly get blasted or burnt, or whatever so my reaction was just, 'What she died? Oh.' She didn't come in the book much at all.
I didn't cry. I didn't even know she died until much later. I honestly didn't even like to book, what it's about is cool, but I dont think that Collins is that good of an author.

She's written one of the most brilliant books that I've ever read. The Hunger Games is one hell of a book, and if you've read it properly NO ONE will ever think she's a rubbish author.
The first two books were brilliant, but I think the reason why we didn't have the brilliant finale was that Collins just wanted to take the easy route and just wrap it up.
I was disappointed as anyone, but please do not insult her by saying she's not that good of an author after she wrote a masterpiece which is called The Hunger Games.

I felt like Prim's death was just a way to get Gale out of the picture... something that Katniss could never get past and be with him, leaving Peeta as the only choice.

^^ Agreed. Also Katniss only assumed that Gale had gone to District 2. How could she think that about someone who's been with her since she was small?
I might have cried when Prim died if some idiot didn't give it away. I was reading the discussions on The Hunger Games (after having finished Catching Fire) and some jerk-wad spilled that Gale's bomb kills Prim... I tried to forget about it as I read, but obviously I knew it was coming, so that ruined part of the book for me.
I think that the whole story is a good idea! But the way she writes, she puts lots of emphasis on things that don't need it, and not enough on things that do. I not saying that shes a crappy writer, but she definetly is not the best! I don't think this book is worthy of as much praise as sit is getting. And authors that have to rush their work have run out of ideas. She couldn't even finish one thought. I really hope the movie is better.

Huh? How can you not remember? It was a major event in Mockingjay. But I can relate, sometimes I read too fast and barely pay attention to everything that is going on.
