My first book is a narrative non-fictional year or two of hippie madness compressed into a rather eventful month. Now, I won’t make more than pennies on it, but it frees some demons and scares the shit out of friends and acquaintances who only know the mild-mannered, boring me of today. Worth it just for that if nothing else.
My later scribblings depart from self-biography, but I am still dipping into the well of my wide (and weird) life experiences from yesteryear to draw from.
Brian said: it frees some demons and scares the shit out of friends and acquaintances who only know the mild-mannered, boring me of today.Alas, I never misspent my youth and am trying to make up for it now. Isn't working, though, I'm still that boring thinker and dreamer I always was. But what I'm finding is how many writers who have been happily (or not) married for 30 years and have the 2.5 children who are in college and doing just fine, are finding their 'wasted' youth was just the opposite and fodder for telling the most wonderful stories.
And they are interesting individuals to boot! Makes me wanna go back and do it all again, sigh...

It's never too late to misspend your life. :)

I’ll take my ‘if I could do it all over again’ cue from the grandpa in the movie Little Miss Sunshine.
Grandpa: [to Dwayne] ‘Fuck a lotta women, kid, I have no reason to lie to you. Not just one, a lotta women.’
I trust that’s not perceived as a sexist statement, rather a acknowledgment of the transcendent wonders of youthful lust and desire.
We don't offend easily. Neither are we sexist. I for one can't be bothered with all that New Age Feminist crap. Men will always come from a different planet and women will always be righr, even when they're wrong.

Claudine wrote: "It could also be that some of us have evil black twisted souls :D"In my experience, Claudine, evil black twisted souls have a tendency to clump together. The Law of Attraction under the driving force of The Dark Side. Makes for good parties.

Hello everyone, Andre, thanks for inviting me over to Robust. Introductions are necessary. I am a thriller author, currently enjoying a run on Amazon with my witness series: Hostile Witness, Silent, Privileged and the brand new Expert. I wrote for New York publishers for 26 years (where did the time go) and now am completely indie. I love it. Looking forward to meeting everyone. You can find me at http://www.rebeccaforster.com That's about it! Happy New Year.

Ohhh - you're the one who kicked my butt on the Free Chart in December. Good for you!
WELCOME!!
You aren't fooling me, Andre. I clicked on her photo. She's a babe. That's why you lured her into your den.
You guys are hilarious! KA love the motorcycle pic. Sorry about the butt kicking but it's been fun. Gives me something to look forward to everyday - checking the listings. That and now we have Robust going on. Life doesn't get better. Nite all.
A belated Hi, Rebecca. You realise that we'll send you as mad as us, don't you?And Andre, wipe that smirk off your face. You know me, so that puts paid to that claim!
Good grief, nut cases all. I love it! I really, really was going to knock off tonight. This is it, for sure. Too frustrated tying to figure out createspace :)
And just as the party gets started you all go to sleep. My day is only starting! Welcome Rebecca.
Huh. As I don't know her work she'll be pleased to know I've downloaded the freebie on kogrid when she wakes up.

Yes. That is an interesting albeit very true read of what can and very often does happen here.
Kat, when's the next Ashtabula book coming out? Or am I pushing my luck? :D

Welcome Rebecca! Now that Kat just has let the cat out of the bag, you will really see us at our best...
Speaking of Kat, yes, we need an Astabula fix.
I have to finish 'Tempest' yet (contemporary romance). Got my military ID and all that so I can go on Post (Ft. Knox) and ask questions.
Kat, I think we're two peas in a pod. Can't wait to read your stuff. I spent two days on the USS Nimitz last year. Super cool to be able to access the military. What amazing people. Thanks so much for the welcomes. Much appreciated. Claudine, thanks for taking the time to download Hostile Witness. Hope you like it! Have a good one. I'm doing paperwork for another week then hope to be hit by inspiration.

Don't be so modest, Katie.

Sharon wrote: "May I confess I've never seen Hair. Odd, that, isn't it?"Not so very; I haven't seen it either. I didn't need to - I lived it :)
Sharon - what I'm seeing in the US is a return to 'Main Street' and the passing of the 'big box' stores. As more people are unable to find jobs, they are making jobs. Opening small businesses like our local feed store, a bath and lotions shop, publishing e-books.
If the US government was smart, it would see the benifit of Healthcare reform would be more small businesses because people don't need to work for a huge corporation in order to get coverage. (But the GOP...well, you know.)
So I agree - I think the world is maturing out of an enthusiasm for BIG business, and returning to the days of the small business.

I resemble that remark. I'm exploiting the heck out of my 'wasted youth' for profit. LOL What else is it good for?
