I had not think much of the book until I got to this part. The book has redeemed itself.

I like Richard and all the school set up. I feel sorry for him for having the father he has. The story has really picked up and I couldn't put the book down last night. I am almost finished.

I found the same thing. Though I absolutely loved (view spoiler)[Wolf and his adoration for Jack. I cried on the bus when I read the part when he dies. (hide spoiler)] But when I got to the part with Rational Richard I definitely felt the pass pick up and the story start to fall into place more smoothly. I loved this book so much and got through it so quickly I kind of felt out of breath at the end of it.
