There are also themes of hubris, trying to trick fate, and loyalty.I don't know if you can narrow the "main" conflict down. There are so many elements that create the story which is what makes it stand the test of time as a classic.
And that sometimes in life, you do the right thing and it goes horribly wrong. When Oedipus does wrong (kills father, marries mother) he becomes a powerful, respected ruler. Whe he does right (seeks true source of plague to save Thebes) he loses all and destroys everything and everyone he loves.
This book had many conflicts with Oedipus and also his daughter Antigone. First they were not wanted anywhere because he had killed his own father. Later on Antigone had problems because she defended her brother when he was killed.
