Nook Owners-Get This Week's Free Friday Selection

Nightshade Books has worked a deal with B&N to offer 4 free e-books through B&N's Free Friday promotion. I downloaded the first one, but haven't read it yet. I started this week's selection this morning and it's a winner for post-apocalyptic fiction readers. When I finished the first chapter, I said, "Wow." The book is Soft Apocalypse by Will McIntosh. It kind of runs with T.S. Eliot's line, "This is how the world ends, not with a bang, but with a whimper." (Forgive me if my memory misquoted.) McIntosh recently won the Hugo for his short story "Bridesicle". It looks like he's going to have a fabulous career in front of him.

So, if you have a Nook and you like post-apocalyptic fiction, download Soft Apocalypse today. It might not be free for long and you really can't go wrong with the price.

Today's free one is a fantasy title, The Winds of Khalakovo by Bradley Beaulieu. Favorably reviewed, so I grabbed it.
