Not sure what you are getting at here, but I loved this book, even if it was wordy. I felt the film was rubbish, even without comparing the two together, (You can't as they are not even the same) I saw the film and felt it was gargage, then I read the book some years later.

James Enjoyed the book immensely, the story is tightly woven and the threads come together. Have to admit was worried when I saw Ben Afflect taking the lead in the film, okay action film but little relation to the book.

David Freas This was the second Tom Clancy book that didn't measure up to his prior work in my opinion. The first was Clear and Present Danger. Clancy was at his best with the Cold War as a backdrop for his books and without that, his work just didn't seem as sharp as with it.
I'm not saying Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears weren't great books, they just weren't as good as the ones that came before.

My first Tom Clancy's book was The Hunt for Red October. Love the part where alot of different activities during the hunting (almost at the end of the book). Love Clancy ever since.

You are either stoned are an idoit. This was a fantastic book. Any Clancy beats any other author hands down. he sets the bar so high, no one comes even close.

Anita Tom Clancy is not an author to read in as a post-op recovery. His plots are so intertwined that you are bound to miss something if not in full possession of all your mental facilities.

Leonardo Noto A relatively recent (in the past 10 yrs or so) Clancy book that does live up to his earlier, 1980s material is "Red Rabbit." You should check it out.

Red Rabbit (Jack Ryan, #2) by Tom Clancy

Anita I haven't read Clancy lately. To many different series with co-authors. Love all the Ryan books. I need to catch up. I did read Red Rabbit and loved it.
