I've read the book (I've won it in the giveaway) and I liked it. I love your strong female characters :). What was your inspiration for the book and does it have a sequel?
It does. Outpost comes out Fall 2012.
My love of dystopian worlds springs from two diverse sources. First, I was a child in the 80s, when we lived with the constant fear from nuclear stockpiling and the cold war. In grade school, they actually showed us films on what we should do if the bomb dropped. And then, of course, my fascination comes from film more than books. I'm a huge fan of George Romero. Back in college, for a film class, I did a paper on his seminal work NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. I haven't read widely in the dystopian genre, mostly because I wanted to take a crack at it myself, and so I wanted to be able to say, honestly, that any similarity came from a collective zeitgeist. That said, I intend to devour a bunch of titles once I finish my own trilogy so that I can enjoy the fabulous books everyone else has been raving over. I have read The KNIFE OF NEVER LETTING GO, and I rather loved it, so I know I have lots of delicious fiction to devour down the line.

Hello,I was wondering whether Enclave's sequel was going to be with the same characters or if you were you going to introduce new ones. I ask this because I thought the way the you finished the book was a perfect ending to such a great adventure. I also understand if you aren't allowed to answer my question but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask!
Thanks!
Outpost features Deuce, Fade, Stalker and Tegan. There will be three books in all, set in this world, written in Deuce's POV, plus a short story written from Stone and Thimble's POVs.
Outpost features Deuce, Fade, Stalker and Tegan, along with new characters they meet in Salvation. It's the second book in the trilogy. There will be one more after it.
Hi, Ann. I'm a Huge fan of dystopian worlds and ENCLAVE was one of those books I couldn't wait for. I devoured it. Fantastic read! Can't wait for OUTPOST.
I wanted to say first, this is the most unique book plot/background-wise I think I've ever read-excellence to this point, since it's hard not to be similar in at least some ways, second, I really really liked this book, so I am very ecxited to see you've put a title and approximate date to the next installment... Last I just wanted to say great job, and now I will be investing in reading your other series since I liked this one so much. Good luck in the future with upcoming books :)
I would have to say Tegan and Deuce, but I also liked her two best friends from the enclave even though they were main characters, and I cannot wait to see how the characters from the ending turn out, I think Mr.Gruffy-rifle man was pretty cool... sorry I am trying not to give too many things away so I am leaving out most names :)
that's kinda exactly like I pictured him hahahaha. I have to say it's very cool of you to answer all of your blog questions and comments... major points for that :)
HI Ann - Wanted to stop by and tell you again how much Has and I loved Enclave! We can't wait for Outpost!
Ann - If you could cast your other characters, who would you pick for Deuce, Tegan, Stalker and Fade?
He was Gambit in Wolverine: Origins. His hair would need to go a lot lighter, but I think he works.
oh he is a whole lot more, like Friday Night Lights, or my Fave the Covenant :) yeah ok if you could cast him, just from sheer looks I would so pick him as my fav character :)))))
ooooh myyyy goodness, it's one of those great ones, mainly because it's nothing but eye candy :) Steven straight, taylor kitch, Sebatian Stan, Chace Crawford, and Toby Hemingway.... it coulda been the worst movie in the world and I woulda still bought the DVD to drool... however, it's a great action love story about warlocks :) and the Salem Witches...
I'm doing fine. I've been at work for 6 hours, so I thought I deserved a GR break. I will read Enclave soon, but I want to read 'Blue Diablo' first. It's been in my to-be-read pile too long. Of course, when one of the Jax series books is released I interupt what ever I'm currently reading. I've preordered 'Aftermath'. I'm going to miss Sirantha when the series is complete.
Yes, the Jax series is perfect for me. I love the universe, the story is well written, the characters are engaging, lots of action and the books aren't tomes that never seem to end. I appreciate an author who can write a good story in under 400 pages.
Paula wrote: "Yes, the Jax series is perfect for me. I love the universe, the story is well written, the characters are engaging, lots of action and the books aren't tomes that never seem to end. I also loved the conclusion in Doubleblind that the arrogant Ithtorians are technologically useless in the fight against the Morgut. The Morgut may historically fear them, but the isolated Ithtorians no longer have superior weapons or ships. Their scientists want to learn from the humans! I just hope that by the end of the series, the Morgut threat is contained. I'm in favor of the continuation of the human species.
Jax has a tough path laid out ahead of her, but I think everyone will appreciate the conclusion.
Hi Ann, I am a huge fan! Love the way you bring life to your charicters and worlds. I just got notice that Enclave is awaiting me at the library. Looking sooo forward to it. I have read the Jax series and am waiting for Shady Lady, otherwise I am up to date on that series too. I have read the skin book (at least the first maybe second). Needless to say, i am a fan and excited to start this new series. More later. I dont wanna ask questions til I read it. I just hate having my reading shadowed by others comments (even the author). Therefore I only skimmed the comments here so I wouldn't get spoilers.
Hey, Lily! Nice to meet you and pleased to hear how many of my books you've read. That's an awesome intro. Get back to me after you read Enclave!
I haven't read Enclave yet, but definitely must! And I think this'll be the perfect book of yours to recommend to a friend to hook her :)
I really love the characters and the world. I'm looking forward to wrapping up Jax, so I can write the last book in the Razorland trilogy, and then another YA. New idea.
finished! (Maybe slight spoilers) I really did enjoy this book. I really didnt find it that simular to Hunger games, other than the youth of the protagonists and the the warpness of the world. oh and the action. Actually if I was going to compare this to a YA book, I would go with Forest of Hands and Teeth. Except I liked Enclaves charicters and pacing better, and world development was also supurb.
I read it in 24 hours and that is a busy 24 hours. I read between errands and work and at the stoplight (yikes). I mean I was really engrossed!
The underground world of the enclave was so vivid, I could almost smell the zombies and the sweat, and the burning flesh. I just loved the charicters. Every one. Even the villins.
I am at work so I must go. Just had to check in and say wow. I think I like this book as much as I did the first Jax book!
HOLY PATUTS!!!!!!!!I LOVE ENCLAVE SO MUCH!!! YOU MADE ME SO HAPPY WHEN I READ THERE WAS GOING TO BE A NOTHER BOOK! I LIKE CRIED! THIS IS THE BEST BOOK I HAVE READ IN MY WHOLE LIFE! THANK YOUUUU!! I HAVE THE BOOK SITTING NEXT TO ME RIGHT NOWW! Anyways, I love Deuce and Fade <3 and Tegan, and Stalker and wow. I finished this book within a day i couldnt put it down for less then a minute, when i had to use the rest room i got sad cuz i couldnt continue reading! This book is my new foundly love, i just liked your page on facebook to. ahaha
Hi Ann,I just finished Enclave and I enjoyed it, especially when the attraction thing started happening between Fade and Deuce and Stalker. I'm glad there will be a sequel. I was wondering if in the sequel we learn more about the Freaks and if Deuce begins a relationship with (or at least decides how she feels about) Fade or Stalker. I hope Tegan is able to walk again.
I will be reading your second book in this series. I'm excited to find out what happens with Deuce and Fade. If there's anything you can say about the sequel that you haven't already said, I'd love to hear. :) Will it get romantic? I love romance.(:

“…In her first young adult novel, Aguirre (the Sirantha Jax series) has created a gritty and highly competent heroine, an equally deadly sidekick/love interest, and a fascinating if unpleasant civilization. This series is likely to hold considerable appeal for fans of The Hunger Games.”
