Leila (justsortofreading) Thank you Jaime for the heads-up. I am looking forward to reading it even though the premise doesn't really interest me ;)

message 4906: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments Courtney
G in B is one of my favorites!!
If you like it, read Certain Girls, it's the sequel.

message 4907: by Krista (new)

Krista (findyourshimmy) | 382 comments I LOVE what the meaning of The NEXT Best Book Club actually is. That should be added to the club description, Lori!

message 4908: by Krista (new)

Krista (findyourshimmy) | 382 comments Leila, I agree with Jaime. The Host starts out slow, but stick with it! It turns out to be fabulous. Also, if you've read Stephenie Meyer's other books, put them entirely OUT of your mind before you get into The Host. It's a different story (obviously) and different flow and just totally different. Enjoy!

message 4909: by Krista (new)

Krista (findyourshimmy) | 382 comments Kellie,

Why did you think Heart-Shaped Box was exhausting?

I was a bit disappointed with the book because I thought it was going to be scarier. Minus about a hundred pages or so in the middle, I thought it moved along pretty quickly and all.

message 4910: by Kellie (last edited Nov 07, 2008 04:28AM) (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments The action...My head was spinning by the time I finished it.

This is just not my typical genre.
It did move quickly though.

message 4911: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments I just finished To Kill a Mockingbird and am onto Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

message 4912: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (goosers34) I have put aside Gone with the Wind and Brideshead Revisited. I am listening to Practical Magic and reading Death Comes for the Archbishop. And oh is the later slow going.

message 4913: by Sherry (new)

Sherry Kellie I do hope you haven't given away anything significant about the plot for Heart-shaped Box. That's still on my TBR shelf and I'm looking forward to reading it without spoilers...

message 4914: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments OMG! OMG! I am loving SAIL by James Patterson!!! I should be done in about an hour, if I can shut down this computer!!lol

message 4915: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments I just changed my "name" to Ann from S.C. because I see there is a new Ann. Just to let you all know..

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 636 comments just finished reading Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close..so AMAZING! I have no idea what to read next..how do you choose after reading a book that may have become one of my favorites??

message 4917: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 437 comments Gasme of Thrones is one of my favorites. There are currently 3 other books in that series. It is supposed to end with the 4th...still waiting for that one.

I really enjoyed Eragon. There are currently 3 more books in that series. It was supposed to be a trilogy, but when the 3rd book came out, it turned into a 4 book series. I hate when they do that!

Ella Minnow Pea is on my TBR list. I am going to have to request it at my libary since I can't ever find it on the shelf.

I am currently reading Dracula and Creed for the 3rd Millenium. I am almost finished with Dracula. I had to start the other book last night to prevent nightmares. Vampires get into my dreams every time.

message 4918: by Darla (new)

Darla (sylvanfox) | 573 comments ok, now I'm on to "The Cider House Rules". I'm really liking it so far :)

message 4919: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 175 comments Lisa: Ella Minnow Pea was cute and very quick. What a horrible thought - the alphabet disappearing.

Jamie: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close was fantastic and heartbreaking. I was in a book slump for awhile after reading it because nothing was as good.

I just started Motherless Brooklyn tonight, but I'm only about 20 pages in.

message 4920: by Atishay (new)

Atishay | 1451 comments Jessica, did you like 'To kill a mockingbird' ?

message 4921: by Justine (new)

Justine (paperbackheart) I'm reading Everything is Illuminated while everyone else reads Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close because I just read it a few months ago and am working on not re-reading...I'm about three quarters done and was hoping to finish it today but, oh well.
I would definitely recommend it to those reading EL&IC. His writing style just amazes me all the time.

message 4922: by silvia (new)

silvia | 282 comments finished ella minnow pea in a day, it a wonderfull book, quick and easy, but really meaningfull. and I love books in letters. its such un interiesting way to tell a story. I recommend it to word lovers.

Loved it!
Hope Courtney likes it too!!

message 4929: by Linda (new)

Linda | 887 comments Leaving for a cruise tomorrow, but taking at least three books with me. I live in fear that I will finish a book and have nothing to read since the flights are long and the time between flights long as well. Soooooooo, will probably finish The True Story of Hansel and Gretel which I am about 2/3 of the way through and liking it. Taking Jane Eyre and The Pact - Jodi Picoult. And, yes, I will have other things to do besides read, but a lounge chair in the sun near the pool with a cool drink and a good book is seriously calling my name.

By the way - anyone who loved Marley & Me and has not read The Art of Racing In The Rain - Garth Stein - will be in for a real treat.

message 4930: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Dorie - I bet I'm not the only one in love with Roarke! I love JD Robb's "______ in Death" series, too, but guilty pleasure is def. the way to describe it IMO. And not a series to read if you are man-less, either!

message 4931: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Thanks Lisa, I loved Marley and Me, so gonna check the other one.
Where is the cruise taking you?

message 4932: by Jackie (last edited Nov 07, 2008 07:17AM) (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) I finished A Dirty Job and now I'm onto Twilight. I was so excited to start it that I read a little bit this morning.

message 4933: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments Atishay, I really enjoyed To Kill a Mockingbird It was one of those books that I couldn't believe I had gone 22 years without reading and I'm glad I finally got around to it.

And Cynthia, I loved A Field of Darkness, very good book.

message 4934: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Now I feel bad....for not have read that one yet because it is on my tbr list but....well I always seem to find more interesting books to read...so for 28 years I am going without reading it.

message 4935: by Melissa (last edited Nov 07, 2008 09:46AM) (new)

Melissa (melitious) I just started The Chris Farley Show: A Biography in Three Acts last night. So far, I like the way it is written: through quotes from family and friends and Chris Farley himself, rather than long paragraph forms. Makes for both quick and sometimes confusing reading, as you can't always tell where it's all going. This is going to be my nighttime read, I think.

message 4936: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Hmmm. yeah but how will I do that. Everytime there is one of those books, someone here tells me how good it is and that I really should read it now...so in the end I end up wth a new wish list of those kind of books!!!!

message 4937: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Okay okay....keep remembering me when I lvie in Diblin and have ajob...then I might concider buying it or look for it in the library there. As my boyfriend mentioned library near to the place we're going to stay....library I wanna see you!!!!

message 4938: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1626 comments I am reading Twilight and I am going thru it pretty quick because I want to get it over with!! I know a lot of you guys liked it but I am having trouble getting into to it. There are some parts I like but I just think there is a lot of things that could have been left unsaid and saved a couple of hundred pages. Like how slow she chewed her cereal!

But nexT I am going to read The Last Lecturer and then Two Lives by Vikram Seth!

message 4939: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Heather - I have to finish I Capture the Castle first, then I'll be picking up EL & IC and also I think the first Sookie Stackhouse mystery - Dead Until Dark.

message 4940: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Right! Imagine, I used to have trouble finding new books ;)

message 4941: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 175 comments I was reading (and enjoying) Dead Until Dark when my Sony Reader decided not to turn on anymore. I have to send it to the company, so I've moved on to Motherless Brooklyn - I hate stopping mid-book!

message 4942: by Liz (new)

Liz (busy91) Currently reading - The Shack by William P. Young

and I will be starting Grace by Richard Paul Evans.

message 4943: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 4 comments I plan on reading Motherless Brooklyn right after the other 7 books that I'm reading. :>) I am in the middle of Aphrodisiac, Girl Meets God and Small Island right now.

message 4944: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (angelashly) | 160 comments I just started The Book Thief on my lunch break. I am really excited for this book as I have been waiting on it from the library for a while.

Good thing it is going to be cold and rainy all weekend, perfect weather to be inside under a blanket with a good book.

message 4945: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) I have 4 books on the go lol.

Faithless - Karin Slaughter
Almost Moon - Alice Sebold

message 4947: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Okay...

STILL reading Frankenstein BUT,

I have a very funny story.

I was on YA for Obama, you know, talking to Chelsea, Genevieve and Gabriella, chatting like usually and suddenly Genevieve mentions Harry Potter. I say I haven't read it, they all TALK LIKE THIS for about five minutes. And now, I've agreed to this reading order for November:

Frankenstein
Suite Scarlet (Maureen Johnson's book that I REALLY need to read)
The Hobbit
Devilish (another MJ book)
Pride and Prejudice
Harry Potter.

I WASN'T EVEN PLANNING ON READING HP!

I have a love/hate relationship with my YA for Obama friends. :D

message 4948: by Linda (new)

Linda | 887 comments Ashley, This is a fabulous book. You have selected a great "under the blanket" book. It will be as dark as the weather, but still a great read.

message 4949: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments I finished SAIL last night and it was awesome! Now I am getting into EL&IC and I am really loving it. I love the way he writes.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 1736 comments Still reading The Three Musketeers, but I also started, for my non-fiction, Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife, which I am enjoying.
