What are you reading?
Jeane, I am going to have to add that to my list of To buys.... sounds like a great story... Im all for gore and stuff!
Ann, yeah for more Maine. I liked Monster 1959. I thought it was a refreshing novel... so different from anything else I had read previously.... and so different from anything else he has written.!
Bleh Lori...so you probably would think it great that my boyfriend asked me if we will watch a horror movie on Halloween...knowing i absolutely never watch horror movies or creepy thriller!
Actually, Jeane, im not big into Gore on the big screen. But in a novel, its not so bad.... Weird, I know, but there you have it.
I haven't got a fantastic book right now, so I'm ploughing through Running with the Bulls, Hey Waitress and the marginally less heavy Secrets of the Jury Room. I think I will go look for a new book tomorrow.
Jesse, It gets better and better. I can't say enough about this book. In times like these, everyone needs to read it if for no other reason than just to get the biggest laugh they have had in quite some time.
I quicky finished "The Brass Verdict" by Michael Connelly and loved, loved, loved it! Connelly is probably my favorite author, and most dependable for a great read. I love it that he's stretched out and created a new series.I'm now onto Company of Liars, an intriguing historical fiction book by Karen Maitland set in England during the Black Plague of 1348. I've loved the first 30 pages. Lots of great characters.
Finished You've Been Warned by James Patterson, man, I just couldn't work that one out no matter how hard I tried .... which is good cos I hate it when I can guess. Now I'm also reading Around the World in Eighty Days, it's my first Verne and so far I like it, only in about 50 pages though.
Dorie - I read Company of Liars this summer and really enjoyed it.I just finished (like, 15 minutes ago) Twilight.
Not the greatest book I've ever read, but not bad.
Not sure what I'll read next, but as I have a nasty head cold, and am only really comfy reading in bed, I'll undoubtedly be reading something!
Susanna, glad to hear you enjoyed 'Liars'. I think it's going to be a good, quick read for me. Hope you feel better soon. Read lots of books and takes lots of liquids!
SeraI will defintely comment after I finish this Fannie book!
Dorie
I should be getting Brass Verdict from the library in the next week or so!
Can't wait
I miss Harry!
I'm 50 pages into Pharos and it is already starting to feel quite creepy - nothing like a ghost story at this time of year.
I am half way La solitudine dei numeri primi and adore it. It is one of those books that you constantly want to go and read on while you are doing other things that you have to do....
Just finished The Fountainhead. Just started Back When We Were Grownups. Hoping to finish in time to read something scary for Halloween (probably I Am Legend).
I was reading The Audacity of Hope, which I really liked, but my life is so hectic right now that I decided that I needed a dose of the unreal rather than the real. So, I picked up Around the World in 80 Days. It is just what the therapist ordered! It is my first Verne and I can tell you right now that it won't be my last.
It is witty and fun and I really like it.
Thanks, Seth! I'd heard of Wodehouse, but I had no idea there were so many. I'm glad to know of an author that seems to be right up my alley. Thanks for your rankings!(So I guess there's no particular order for these books, right? Thanks again!)
I need a push or the Moby Dick that I am reading through Dailylit (which I use rarely). It doesn't say how many pages just the chapters and in how many mails you get it. I am at chapter 29 and was wondering if someone could tell me which page this is in the book. I know it will help me!
Can you tell me the theme of The Woman In White? Are you enjoying it? Also Also, what is Twilight and Emma about?curious,
Mary
Hi Mary - If you click on the following links, you should be able to read more information on the titles:The Woman in White
Twilight
Emma
I'm reading the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini right now. I finished Eragon and have started Eldest. Next is Brisingr. There is going to be a 4th, but I have to wait for it. I know there was a movie made based on Eragon, but from what I heard, it is nothing like the book.
I am 60 pages into "Welcome to the World Baby Girl" by Fannie Flagg and it's got me.I'm trying to read all my new posts quickly so I can get back to it!
I was at the NASCAR race in Atlanta this past weekend and stumbled upon St. Dale by Sharyn McCrumb in the stacks a the library. I thought it was apropos...
I really enjoyed it!! I read it in 2 days & I could not put it down! My homework suffered soo much! haha but it was wellll worth it.
I'm just starting A Game of Thrones. I'm already 60 pages in and didn't realize I'd read that much! So far so good.
I finished MONSTER 59 and loved it!! I am still having trouble with NEVER LET ME GO. I don't know why. I am now really into A GREAT AND TERRIBLE BEAUTY, and I can't put it down!!
Jeane - I agree with you completely.(sorry for such a late reply) I have read just the Divide and Horse Whisperer by Evans but i would like to read more. Gina - I read "The Notebook" by Nicholas Sparks and believe me, it was awesome. "Message in a bottle" was also nice. I haven't read "A walk to remember" though.
Kathy - Welcome to the Nicholas Evans Fan Club :)
Laura- Thanks for helping out with the bend in the road. As far as his best novel goes, I haven't read all of them but I really liked "The Notebook".
Angela - I will definitely try "A bend in the road" now.
Atishay, there is a Nicholas Evans club????!!!!! You see Lori, if I don't know that it's because i don't look further than this group!
Atishay,I would love to hear what you think of Rebecca. I have it on my shelf to read - and was going to read it for the fall challenge, but never got around to it.
Yes Jeane! There is a Nicholas Evans Fan Club :) . I'll be really glad if all his fans would join it.
Stacie - I'll surely tell you about it as soon as i have finished reading it. I read first few chapters and her way of writing really impressed me. Lets see how it develops.
