Liz, I liked Frankenstein. I don't particularly care for the movies--very different--and they do not convey they same depth that the novel does. Had I not read it previously, I probably wouldn't pick it up because of the movies (which I only saw snippets of).

Sounds fascinating. I am looking for a new book to read--I have quite a few but I can't muster interest with what is on my shelves. This happens occasionally. Usually it means I need a change in my reading habits.

I read Life of Pi a couple of years back. Actually, a friend forced me to buy it coz I didnt really trust Booker Prize Winners at that time :)and he wanted to prove me wrong. Anyways, I started reading it and couldn't put it down until I knew the fate of Richard Parker and Pi. I'm eagerly waiting for a new novel by Yann Martel.

Ack, Interview with a Vampire isn't in my library. I guess I'll have to pick up Frankenstein today instead.

I hope you do, too, but I've never read it. I wonder if the pacing is similar to Dracula? My husband liked both of them, but he's a guy, so...

Atishay - "avatar" is the little icon (picture) to the left. Mine's a bellydance tribal-fusion fairy.

I need a break from House of Leaves. My hubby and I are taking a short roadtrip over the weekend and I need something I can read easily in the care. So, I started Bliss by Lauren Myracle last night (already a good 60-80 pages in) and am taking along The Book Thief by Markus Zusak for the ride home.
Iki, I plan on starting The Book Thief this weekend once I have finished Dracula. I'm still plugging along with Dracula but I'm almost there. =/

Jenna, I just finished Galileo's Daughter recently. I thought it was fascinating.

I finally started reading Dracula last night. I have a feeling I'm really going to have to push myself to get through it. I'm also still reading The Zombie Survival Guide.

Currently reading The Screwtape Letters. It's ... OK, I guess. And I'm going to be acquiring Twilight from my knitting teacher come Thursday.

Stephanie, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on Beyond Good and Evil. I was, perhaps, exposed to Nietzsche at a very young age and he ended up shaping my thoughts very nicely. I'd be very interested in hearing your thoughts on the book. It's always fun to read philosophy.

That's it! Robert Redford. I like all the older guys in the movies, the classics like those 2 so I guess they merge together for me :)

      Stephanie,
Beyond Good and Evil by Friedrich Nietzsche..wow. I had to read that in college. Not sure it would be something I would choose to just pick up and read. Hes a tough guy to get through!!
Donna... Wow! I am so happy you are enjoying Smashed... I really didnt want to put it down once I started it. I read the authors note first, and thought, well... if this guy writes the book the way he wrote his intro, I'm gonna love it! I hope this gets more people reading him....

Lisa, Death W/ Interr is so much better than what I made it out to be. You cant really describe it without spoiling it too much. That is really the plot of it tho...
Watch out tho, near the begining was a bit of a tear jerker for me. Maybe I was in a melancholy mood, but wow. He hasnt been able to make me cry before.... Please, if you pick it up, let me know what you think!

The Hobbit - I've been mercilessly pounding GEmma to read it, since I broke down and read A Great and Terrible Beauty.

Well see, this is what I get for not paying attention. Emma, The Hobbit pales in comparison to Lord of the Rings. Good riddles but other than that, it's not a must read. IMHO.
