Paula | 1098 comments I'm just starting "Goose in the Pond" Earlene Fowler. This is a fun cozy series and each title is the name of a quilt. Fowler gives a description at the beginning of each book of the quilt pattern.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 636 comments Angela--let me know what you think when you finish it! If you are anything like me..I devoured that book! :)

message 4153: by Charity (new)

Charity (charityross) Just FYI...The Bell Jar remains one of my favorite books of all time and I get a sick thrill when I hear that anyone is picking it up. Enjoy! :-)

message 4154: by Joanie (new)

Joanie | 714 comments Ashley, If you like Anybody Out There? You should check out Keyes' other books about the Walsh sisters Watermelon is first, then Rachel's Holiday, then Angels. Each book is about a different sister. It's funny how much she changed Anna's character when she got to AOT-I took me a good 1/2 the book to get over it actually.

I'm reading House of Leaves. Not freaked out yet but I'm only on Chapter 2.

message 4155: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melitious) Jamie, it's not too bad. It's essays about a guy and his gal and how important music was to them. I don't know that it's what I was expecting at first, but it's been a good book and I've enjoyed it so far.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 1736 comments Just finished Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, by Susanna Clarke. Excellent!

I have no idea what I will read next, though. Still deciding.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 636 comments melissa--thanks! I'm hoping to start it soon. i hope that it's good because i have been building it up in my mind so much. haha.

message 4158: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Susanna! I've been reading that book for over a month (Jonathan Strange). Did it all come together and make more sense at the end?

message 4159: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melitious) Jamie, lol, I did the same thing! I think that's why it's not what I expected -- though, I don't know what I was expecting. I hope to finish it in a few hours, so I'll keep you posted!

message 4160: by [deleted user] (new)

i am re-reading twilight cause i absolutely love that series!!!!!!

message 4161: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (angelashly) | 160 comments Joanie-Thanks, When I got AOT I didn't realize it was part of a series. Then others told me the same thing you did about Anna.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 1736 comments Laura - yes, I would say things come together at the end. It made sense to me, but I don't know about everyone else who has read it.

message 4163: by Connie (new)

Connie | 188 comments Just finished Blindness and am starting The Fountainhead.

message 4164: by Kate (new)

Kate | 17 comments I am reading "Brief Interviews with Hideous Men." I have been meaning to read it for some time, but since David Foster Wallace's tragic suicide, I decided it was time to stop putting it off.

I am finding the book of short stories both good and bad. When they are bad, I count pages until they are over. When they are good, I am totally absorbed.

I also picked up Infinite Jest at the library, but I will admit I am intimidated by it.

message 4165: by Melody (new)

Melody | 564 comments I am reading Eat Pray Love and am up to book 2 - India. Whilst I am enjoying the book, I have not fallen in love with it the way some readers have. But it is easy reading and I am intrigued to see how she comes out at the end.

Lori (tnbbc) | 10621 comments Mod
Julianne, wow. thanks for the compliment. I tend to love what I love (duh) and love to hear that others love it too!! (love the love)

I have the two Koontz Frankenstiens here, havent gotten around to reading them yet. I like to get em all first... but who knows!

Lisa... I just picked up Shellys Frankenstien, so I would love to hear what you think as you go... you could email me, so we dont risk ruining it for others!!

Seth.... Great to see you around! Let me know how Strangers is.... Koontz is a huge hit or miss for me. I love Odd, and thought Life Expectancy and False Memory were ok.

message 4167: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (klonk) Jens Lapidus: Snabba Cash (it's taking me a rather long time to finish this one)
Harry Mulisch: The Assault

message 4168: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments Finished Sunset Express: An Elvis Cole Novel
by Robert Crais last night.
It was so good, I read until I finished last night.
This book is #6 in the Elvis Cole Series.

I started Landing It: My Life On And Off The Ice: My Life on and Off the Ice
I am a huge figure skating fan and couldn't wait to read this book. This guy was awesome in his day.

message 4169: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melitious) Finished Love is a Mix Tape early this morning, so I'm planning on getting started up again with The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox.

message 4170: by Petra X (last edited Oct 14, 2008 05:36AM) (new)

Petra X (petra-x) I'm just finishing Riddled with Life Friendly Worms Ladybug Sex and the Parasites That Make Us Who We Are and thinking I might start All Dressed in White about weddings in America.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 636 comments how was it Melissa?? :)

I just finished The October Country and just started Frankenstein.

message 4172: by Isiah (new)

Isiah (volition) Just starting Dumas' The Three Musketeers and if it's on par with The Count of Monte Cristo I'll have another great classic to add to my shelves.

message 4173: by Liz (new)

Liz (busy91) currently
"Dreamcatcher" by Stephen King and "The Lucky One" by Nicholas Sparks.

message 4174: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 1128 comments I'm still plugging my way through Love in the Time of Cholera. It's an amazingly beautiful book that I've forced myself to slow down with so that I can savor it properly. I've also started reading The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism just to keep up my non-fiction kick.

message 4175: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Still reading Dracula. Ugh, almost finished though.

message 4176: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments No kidding Fiona! It's just too slow, even in the exciting parts I'm bored.

message 4177: by Linda (new)

Linda | 887 comments Liz, I really liked Dreamcatcher. One of my favorites.

message 4178: by Krista (new)

Krista (findyourshimmy) | 382 comments I'm slowing and tentatively proceeding through House of Leaves.

message 4179: by Claire (new)

Claire (clairebear8) | 514 comments Hi, I've posted here a few times before but haven't posted in awhile. Anyway, I'm reading East of Eden right now and really liking it.

message 4180: by Claire (new)

Claire (clairebear8) | 514 comments Yes, that is wierd! Are you enjoying it, Fiona? I think its great so far - I'm only on about page 250.

message 4181: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Just finished Dracula. I feel totally indifferent to the ending. Don't care. Boring. Blah.

message 4182: by Heather (new)

Heather (heatherhassie) Just finished reading The Secret Life of Bees. I started it about a year ago, and couldn't get into it, so I set it aside. Picked it up again on Sunday, finished it yesterday, and can't figure out why I couldn't get into it the first time I started!

I will probably read the second Artemis Fowl book (I'm a middle school reading teacher) next. Read the first one two weeks or so ago, and LOVED it! I was going to start it last night, but I just couldn't keep my eyes open.

Tomorrow night is my first meeting of the year for my book club at work. We read Green Grass Grace--if you live in or around Philly, this is a must read. :) The next book we are reading is Starvation Heights.

message 4183: by Krista (new)

Krista (findyourshimmy) | 382 comments Congrats on the "big" finish (G)Emma. What's next?

message 4184: by Laura (new)

Laura (laurita) Isiah, I just finished The Three Musketeers a couple weeks ago. I thought it was a lot sillier than The Count of Monte Cristo, which I loved, but a fast-paced and entertaining read nonetheless.

message 4185: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Thanks Iki! Interview with A Vampire, but I have to wait till Friday to go. :(

message 4186: by Krista (new)

Krista (findyourshimmy) | 382 comments Oooh, I'm supposed to be reading Interview for the supernatural GR book club. I'm working through HOL so I don't think I'll be reading Interview this week, but soon, soon, soon.

message 4187: by Jaime (new)

Jaime | 163 comments I also plan on reading Interview With a Vampire @ some point...but I still have Dracula after House of Leaves...I need more time to read.

message 4188: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Yeah, I know the feeling Jaime. We can discuss it when we're finished!

message 4189: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Let us know how Interview goes GEmma, I'm thinking about that one too. Just got book 2 of Gemma Doyle - but I think I may make myself finish some others first before starting it. Sorry you didn't like Dracula! :(

message 4190: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments That's alright, it wasn't too too bad. I'm glad your looking forward to reading Rebel Angels!

message 4191: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Sure, thanks for the recommendation! Happy Thanksgiving, BTW.

message 4192: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melitious) Jamie, Love is a Mix Tape was good. I'm glad that I read through it. It's funny in parts, definitely sad in parts. I really liked the final paragraph of the book -- he did a great job tying it all together. I mean, it is his true story, so I guess he would, lol. I hope you enjoy it, too.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 636 comments thanks! I'm anxious to read it now! haha darn schoolwork..i don't have time to start it!

message 4194: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Thanks Laura, the reccommendation was my pleasure. Belieevvveee me. :)

message 4195: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments I am now reading EMPIRE FALLS by Richard Russo and I am also reading THE BELL JAR by Sylvia Plath. I have wanted to read both of these for a while.

message 4196: by Jaime (new)

Jaime (jaimechm) Well I just finished Enchanted, Inc by Shanna Swendson - pretty funny. But now I want something a little scarier in honor of Halloween...I'm deciding between Lightening by Koontz, Frankenstein by Shelley or Nightshade by Saul - any opinions out there?

message 4197: by Maureen (new)

Maureen Still reading Aztec. I'm not quite but almost 1/2 way through it. I've been reading some shorter books, too, so I can feel like I've accomplished something. :) I finished Letters from Pemberley (Jane Dawkins) and just started The Uncommon Reader (Alan Bennett) tonight.

(G)Emma, I felt the exact same way re: Dracula! The ending was so incredibly anti-climatic to me.

message 4198: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Exactly! Horrible ending, so boring in the description, not endearing at all!

message 4199: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 157 comments I am almost finished The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. After this, I'll probably read Zapped by Carol Higgins Clark.

message 4200: by Jenna (new)

Jenna | 224 comments Heather,
Green Grass Grace was such a great book! It's definitely a must read for Philly folk. My dad actually knows the author. Pretty cool, I think. Do you know if he has written anything else?
