With all this talk about Wuthering Hieghts, and Jane Eyere, I think I might move them up higher on my TBR list. Not sure yet, because I ahve so many library books to finish before I even think about reading books I own :)

I finished SHANTARAM. Finally... Now can get on with CIDER HOUSE and THE WITCH OF PORTOBELLO by Paulo Coelho. I liked THE ALCHEMIST, so I am looking forward to this one.
Debbie- I recently finished I Am the Messenger. I loved it!! Lots of food for thought. I would really be interested to hear what you think about its YA label. Happy reading- Kathy
I finsihed The Reluctant Fundamentalist last week and really enjoyed it but I have no idea what happened at the end. Has anyone else read it and can help me out? I feel a bit dumb!I can't decide what to read next. I was thinking maybe Transgressions by Sarah Dunant, Heidi (got an urge to read it again) or Eat Love Pray. I'm open to opinions though if anyone wants to help me out Gracee-style? (I have an won-but-havent-read shelf).
I've started MR: VERTIGO by PAUL AUSTER, not your normal auster's book. well he's one of my favorite authors so I cant really judge is writings.
I am currently reading multiple journal about landslide. It's for my coursework lol. It is still considered under 'what am i currently reading right?' =)
So Angela, did it creep you out just a bit? I don't want to spoil it for others, but some of the stuff in there was wild even for her. Have you read any others by her?
I just finished the Autobiography of Henry VIII...it is outstanding! now I am on to Wuthering Heights.
Linda, I think Borders is better generally - it has comfy chairs, and Waterstones doesn't. But then WS is closer to where I live...
Jenn I bought the biography of Edith Wharton in June. It's on the auitobiography/biography TBR pile. It's huge so I need a good chunk of time to get through it. Let me know your thoughts - I love Edith Wharton!
LindaI prefer B & N stores over Borders. BN stores are more orderly - I think it's the layout. I like their cafe and music and movies department - I think Borders is trying to get rid of theirs. I have not had any problem with staff (at BN and Borders). I'm a member so I receive a discount with my purchases. Borders is a little more haphazrd with their floorplan and their bathrooms are hideous - they should be condemned! I do like their 2 for 3 specials and their herbed cream cheese pretzels are fab! I have to say there are BN stores I don't feel comfotable in...I've been to Borders where the seating and lighting are more inviting. Guess it's my mood!
EmilyI started to read Ahab's Wife years and years ago. I could not get through it. I should try again because there were a few places in the book that were interesting.
I have the Autobiography of Henry VIII on my TBR list...it sat on my shelf at home for like 7 months and I never got to it and with the Fall Reading Challenge I probably won't get to it for the next three months so I decided to bring it back to the library to make room for other's....but I'm glad you liked it Tisha...I'll get around to it eventually.
I agree that B&N is better than Borders (mainly b/c their layout), though I always hear how the reverse is true. Maybe it depends on the area.
I was always a die hard B&N shopper but lately I'be been going to Borders more. With Borders you get the the extra 10% off certain books if you have a rewards card and you don't have to pay $25 a year for the card. Borders also sends out coupons every week or so-I don't remember getting them quite so often from B&N. Lastly, the staff at the Borders near me are much more consistent-you see the same people over and over (or maybe I just go there more now!) and they're really helpful without being up your butt. Not that I won't shop at B&N-they do have books after all!
Linda- It did creep me out, especially toward the end! I was home alone when I finished it and I after I closed it, I could not wait for my husband to come home, cuz it was after dark.
Boof...I think that the end of the Reluctant Fundamentalist is totally left up to the reader. Depending on who you are and what you pervcieved from the book will depend on how you think it ends.
Renee,I will totally try to keep that on the list of people to tell and naturally, I'll be writing a review. =)
I'm a little transfixed with First Among Sequels by Jasper Fforde. He just kills me. lol
Boof - I really liked Eat, Pray, Love, it's quite a quick read as well. If you decide to pick that one up be sure to let me know how you like it.
Finished Shantaram last night. I was torn, because it took me ages to read I was happy to now be able to read something else but also sad that the book had ended after all this time.Hopefully by tonight I'll be Wao-ing it!!
Jenna, thank you oh thank you for clearing up my confusion - I really thought I was being dumb! OK, now I feel so much better.
I started The Saffron Kitchen by Yasmin Crowther last night. I was in the mood for more middle-easty books and so far so good.
Yep, Waoing sounds great but unfortunately/fortunately because of super duper fantastic news tonight, Todd has now had approval of thesis, is a DOCTOR, more wine will be consumed tonight than words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so busy with school right now, but last night I decided to read something for fun as well. So I'm currently reading Amsterdam by Ian McEwan.
Joanie- I feel the same way that you do w/ the whole B&N vs Borders thing...I always used to go to B&N and just roam around but then my best friend started dragging me to Borders because of the coupons she was getting w/ the membership card and now we go there all the time...
I've been trying to read Three Cups of Tea, but it is just not grabbing me. It doesn't delve very deeply into the main characters. It seems like it is more descriptive and action oriented.
In contrast, I am also reading Oscar Wao and it is outstanding. I am loving this book!
I finished This Lullaby and I'm now on to The Desreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks. Man, I am on a roll!
I am reading more books than usual right now:Jane Eyre-didn't want to take this on vacation, so am ~1/3 through but stopped about 1 1/2 weeks ago. Gotta get back in
Talisman, Stephen King-started this on ~5 yrs ago. Got back in as a group read. It's a looong one (700+ pgs), but I've already made it past where I stopped before.
The Best of HP Lovecraft-This man is seriously creepy! I can't read it before bedtime, but since each of his stories is like <10pgs long, I think I'll snack on this one.
The Alchemist-Loving it so far. This is my audiobook. I'm not even one CD into it--he's on his way out of the country.
YES YES YES
I finally finished Wuthering Heights.
Ok, sure, it got a little better at the end.
But that was HELL to get through.
Phew.
I am going to read Of Mice and Men (hopefully quickly) for the Myspace Group, and to knock one more off the Lost list. (I read this back in school, but since others were reading it, I thought a reread would do me good)

Lori~ After tackling Jane Eyre at the beginning of this year, I have NO desire to venture into Wuthering Heights...KUDOS to you for finishing it!! YAY!!Of Mice and Men is AMAZING. What a wonderful read. I don't think it will take you long to get through it at all (especially since I just re-read your post and realized you said you read this in school. ALWAYS a good re-read!!).
LOVE the Jasper Fforde books. HILARIOUS!
Am reading "Love is a Mix Tape: Life and Loss, One Song at a Time by Rob Sheffield. So far this is an amazing book. Makes me want to go out and buy some cassettes and make mix tapes again. I MISS that. :-)
Hopefully moving onto Stardust after that.
I started Oscar Wao this morning, my first book club read!(I am still working on One Hundred Years of Solitude; I know I said I was going to finish it last week, but I had some library books coming due and they were much easier reads so I let them jump the line. I will finish it one day, though, I swear!)
Yeah Cheri for joining the group read! Once you get thru, be sure to join the discussions thread so we know what you think!
Dawn, my sister-in-law had been on me to get Jane Eyre, and I bought it at the same time I bought Wuthering Heights, but now I think I need to take a year off before tackling another Bronte... ugh!

Dawn, I'm glad you're liking Love is a Mix Tape. I've heard that it's a really touching story, and Sheffield always writes great reviews for Rolling Stone.
Renee, I think part of the problem with the B&N near me is the management. I used to go to one further away from my home before I had options and really liked the feel of that store and everyone there was so enthusiastic. I get the feel that the people at the store near me feel it is more of a job than a calling. Maybe that's the way they want it, but no one seems to care about getting into a conversation about a book when you ask a question. And (sorry to gone like this) they play really loud music with lyrics. How are you supposed to sit and read with all that racket? On the flip side, I am a Borders (no fee) member and get all the groovie 40% off emails. I don't see why I should pay $25 for the privilege of getting discounts when I am buying the book anyway.
Started the Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde...only on about chapter 4. It's ok right now. Hoping it grabs me a little bit more.
Just finished Nadia Knows Best by Jill Mansell. Light and lively read. Pure Chick Lit from Britain. I liked it though. Now I'm going to start "The Book of Marie" by Terry Kay
It's for bookclub.
Kim - I actually tried to start Three Cups of Tea last night and just wasn't really feeling it either. I put it aside for now and started reading The Madonnas of Leningrad by Debra Dean.
Melanie, You will have to let me know what you think. That has been on my shelf FOREVER! I look at it and pick it up all the time, but end up putting it down for something else.
Hi Stacie - Me too! I finally picked it up. I am about 20 pages in and liking it so far, it seems like a pretty fast read.
Started and finished Of Mice and Men today. (poor Lennie. Still sad the second time through)
Going to start Odd Hours by Koontz tonite, and read till my eyes give out on me!

i'm currently reading The Things they carried by Tim O'Brien for my Issues in Contemporary Lit class. read it in high school..don't really remember much of it though.
I just finished The Virgin Suicides.I need to take a trip to the library, but they still don't have electricity.
*frown*
