I finished Lost Princess: The Journey Home, also started and finished Hey God--Are You Really Really Up There?, and finally started Meant for Her (all yesterday). Fortunately, I only had a few pages left of the first, the second book was only about 85+ pages long, and the third book is awesome!

I have to say, I agree! I loved how reminiscent it was of the Knights of the Round Table, and I don't think many people get that.

I have a hard time finding any of Steinbecks books that I do not love. Have you read Travels with Charlie?
I just started and am already halfway through Calico Joe which happens to be a perfect palate cleanser because 1Q84 is KILLING ME.
I'm reading 30 pieces of silver by Carolyn McCray. its a controversial thriller having to do with Jesus crucifixion. I'm not very far into it yet but so far so good. I love the author so I have high hopes for the book.
Yesterday I finished
by Janet Evanovich. It's the tenth novel in the Stephanie Plum series. This novel had a far more serious and darker tone than the other books. It was a gripping and exciting read with an excellent plot and great characters. Right now, I'm a couple of chapters into
by Ian Serraillier. This is a re-read. I first read in when I was in school. I remember liking it but I don't remember much about the plot.
(so far so good (and spooky!))and
(my grandma gave me the box set, so I'm making my way through the series right now)

The story is a basically true account of how the family made it to Switzerland across war-torn Europe and Jan's part in it. Is this it. I'd love to get it for my classroom.
Started Anna Karenina over the weekend, managed to finish part one and start part two. Hoping I can get through it in one week!

I read already Kafka on the Shore and I liked it form beginning but some scenes were very cruel and insect sex descriptions make me like this book much much less already by the half of book. I’m listening now audio version of I1Q84 and there are beautiful music thai is a plus, but I can’t say I’m getting be a fan of Murakami, but at least audio version keep my interest to continue keep listening…. I’m somewhere in the middle, there Tango (I don’t know how to spell right because I’m listening, not reading) met Aomama’s guardian….Where are you know?

Working my way thru this one. It is pretty interesting, not as creepy as some were saying.
A collection of short stories. Mainly about the mixed african american experience.
It sounded interesting, but I wasn't sure about it. Now that I'm in to it, I really like it. Just hope I can finish it before my library lending period is up.

I have Rose Madder sitting on my TBR because I thought somehow that it wasn't creepy at all. Guess I'll have to move it up the list. Tks.
I just finished The Angry Woman Suite which was very twisted and a very good read and I'm still reading Bitter End which is the third book in the series and it just keeps getting better and better.

You may be farther than I am. It is tough going right now for me. I feel like it is overly long and could use a good edit. I understand the idea of different points of view of the same memories, but a lot of his books Tengo reads and stories within the story seem superfluous at best and annoying at most. I am where Tengo has decided to leave his father and the sanatorium and come back to look for Aomame. I also agree with you. I am not a prude, but I feel like Murakami is kind of obsessed with sex and put his own fetishes into the stories (hot lesbians, anyone?). These passages don't really inform, but they just kind of stick out like a sore thumb. I will finish it eventually because I want to know about the little people and being about 700 pages in, I am to stubborn to quit.

Chad, I'm exactly where you are, and I agree. Murakami is obsessed with sex... I have yet to make it through a Murakami novel, and I am determined to get through this one. :) (Darn my degree in Asian Languages and Literature... it's telling me that I have to get through one of his books!)
I am currently reading 11/22/63 by Stephen King and am enjoying it so far (I'm on page 73)also rereading Cruel intent by J.A Jance, anything by Jance is going to be good. and am listening to Ridley Pearsons The Lost Hero while I drive to work and back,
I am enjoying this as well.
I am new to TNBBC and look forward to finding new books and authors to read
Reading now great book...
Angel On My Mind
By Shirley Wiggerman
A love story of a different sort when it comes to love at first sight. Jonathan is alone trying to find himself in the world that surrounds him.
He makes a vital decision for change in hopes of a much better future but he is confronted with three situations that turn his precarious life into one full of direction. He meets Angela at a skating rink and falls in love with her within the hour they spend skating.
She leaves unannounced leaving behind only her phone number and a journal. Now because of his love for her, he must find her in hopes to convince her to marry him. His one and only connection, is a skateboarding teen named Kyle, the one person that can help him find her but he doesn't make it easy by playing games with Jonathan.
On top of everything else he discovers a stranger inside his parents old house and is determined to know who he is, and what he's doing inside the house. Jonathan wants Angela to be his wife, the annoying kid to grow up, and the strange man out of his parents house. He wants his life to be easy again.
I just finished Gone Girl which I liked very much. I am now starting The Passage - really looking forward to this one as I've heard good things!
I was reading
by Victor Hugo and
by Angela Hunt, but I put them both down and got interested in another book, which is
by Neil Shusterman. I really have a bad habit of starting books and not finishing them. Sometimes it's because the book just doesn't grab me in the first 100 pages, so I just give up on it and other times I like it okay but it's just because another book is calling my attention. Has anyone else started a book a not finished it for whatever reason?

In various parts of our house I have a book that I have started and a pair of reading glasses! By my bedside I have about 10 piled up in the process of being read, or waiting for me! I'm trying to do the 1001 books list, but have been sidetracked by books on the history of lighthouses or women during pioneer days!! I'm glad I'm not alone.
It's finally my turn at the library for Gone Girlso I will be starting that tonight!! Super excited as I have heard really great things about this book.

Aren't libraries awesome? I use mine all the time. I try to get the kids there once a week.

We just came home from library, we were picking up
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer for my 10y and just hang up there for a while and my daughter sign up for some reading program to get a badges - you can read 10 books in one specific area (fantasy, reading about the world, realism fiction and so on so on) and she will got badges for each area she took folder to fill in. Isn't this cool?
And I also want to load audio version of Gone Girl, but for now it only wma file and my phone reading only mp3 ;(
Mark wrote:Absolutely! I actually use three different libraries, each in a different system."
Thank god I'm not he only person who does this!
Jennifer and Mark, hope you enjoy it! It was one of my favorite reads this year. I just started Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith. One of the guys I work with recommended it, and I figured I'd try it with Halloween coming up. So far, so good.

I got my ebook version of it from the library last night. Started it this morning. :)
I recently finished A Discovery of Witches. As a rule I don't get very enthusiastic about books with vampires, but I enjoyed it a lot and plan to read the next book in the trilogy. Now I'm reading Let the Devil Sleep by John Verdon. I just love this series.
I finished reading
by Nicholas Sparks a few hours ago. The book was a bit of a disappointment really. I've read most of Spark's books and I think I'm too used to his writing style. I found the plot of the story to be extremely predictable and slighty unrealistic. But if you've never read a Nicholas Spark novel before, you'd probably like it. Now I'm about to start reading
by John Grisham. It's the october monthly read in a Goodreads group I'm in and I want to get a head start on it.
Mark wrote: "Welcome Bruce. I listen to audio books on my commute as well. Just finished The Replacement and started Heartsick. In print, I'm still reading Cloud Atlas, it's getting better."
Heartsick was fantastic.

I am reading Frank McCourt's 'Tis and Rebecca Skloot's The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (HeLa for short) a wonderful book about a poor southern African American woman who had cells taken from a cancerous tumour and distrubuted around the Globe. There was no monetary comps for her family. Sad, but very inspiring!
