Lolly (lolly99) | 2 comments Hi, Dorie:
I was glad to read your post about this book, because it was a book I was considering. After finishing a book by Clive Barker (good but creepy), I need something uplifting. I will add your book to my list.

Patricia | 185 comments I finished The Paris Wife by Paula McLain. An interesting look at Ernest Hemmingway told through the perspective of his first wife. Reminded me a lot of Loving Frank by Nancy Horan. Brooding artists, multiple wives.....

Now I'm reading A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. Came recommended by my brother.

I have No. 1 on my Kindle, but I keep putting it off. Just cannot get my leg up on the bandwagon."

I hear ya. It took me a long time before I finally decided it was the right time. I was considering another reread of The Hobbit and thought why not start The Fire and Ice Series instead.

I love Heather Gudenkaug, she has yet to write a book that I haven't loved. If you have not read her other books: The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf or These Things Hidden by Heather Gudenkauf , I would recommend them. Plus, I like the fact she lives in my state, Iowa, and has done a number of Author Skype visits for libraries, etc.

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) I'm halfway through Gone Girl Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and there isn't one of these characters I would want in my life. I'm enjoying the book, and they're holding my interest, but these people are basketcases from the starting bell on, and more than once I've asked "what in god's name do you SEE in him/her?" about just about every one.

Aaron Thibeault (thebookreporter) | 76 comments Just finished reading Jim Baggott's new book called 'Higgs: The Invention and Discovery of the 'God Particle''. The book discusses the recent discovery of the Higgs boson, of course, but it also does an excellent job of explaining the development of the Standard Model of particle physics (which theory is our best explanation of matter and force, and the theory of which the Higgs boson is a part). The book provides just what the general reader needs to understand the discovery of the Higgs boson and what it all means. I've written an executive summary of the book available here:

Cheers,
Aaron
