I am about to begin

I've read Hotel du Lac which I can highly recommend. I'll have to add The Rules of Engagement to my wish list.

I was suprised about how I adored the book!

So was I! I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did.

I am about to begin

I enjoyed Push but the movie did pack more of an emotional punch. Have you read The Kid, her latest book? I can't get it to link up here but if you have, I'd love to hear what you think. It's one I'd like to read but haven't gotten to yet.

and what you impression about Room? I think about reading this book someday

No I never read that yet, if it is anything like Push, I don`t want too. thanks for the recommendation.

I was the opposite of you Michael. I couldn't stomach the movie Precious, but loved Push. Push was more real and gritty than the movie. I feel that the movie cut out what the book was really about. It was about the struggle of this girl to be better than she was and it was reflected better in the book because of the writing style and the word choices. You didn't get all of that from the movie, at least not for me.

Where does the Yellow Card man come from and what duties do his employers expect him to do?

I thought it would be boring and a bit stupid but just loved it and enjoyed it. So happy I finally read it.

The grammar I can overlook cause I understood the author`s intention, but I did not care about precious at all. I know that was a hurting child, but she was not someone that I can sympathize with. In the movie, I felt the connection between precious and her school teacher. In contrast,in the book, I did not feel any connection, cause it was lazy writings and inconsistent to me.

Did you like "The Bean Tree?"

Did you like "The Bean Tree?""
I think I went into the book with too high of expectations and ended up thinking that it was just okay. Most of my friends who've read it gave 4 or 5 stars. I stuck with 3.

Best book I've cracked open in the past year.

I just finished that one - loved it!

I also finished Night Road, which was intense, but good. I can't decide what to read next, possibly The Wedding Dress.

Claire, this is such a good book!!! Gives me "heavy boots". Are you planning on seeing the movie when you finish reading it? The movie looks good....

Hi Lori! I finally figured out what "heavy boots" means. ha ha! I'm only on page 50 but really liking it so far. I do plan to see the movie and want to finish the book first though.

I loved "Valley of the Dolls" when I read it years ago. There is also a movie if you're interested. There is also a sequel to Valley, something with Sparrows in the title. It was pretty good too but not as good as Valley imo.
