What are you reading?
I started Only Time Will Tell yesterday. This is like The Forsyte Saga but starting 1900 or so. Really good and there are more books to come. Yah!
Finished
Snow Angels
by Jim Thompson. The book was set in Finland so I was excited to read it but I didn't really care for it.Next, I'm picking up Day Out of Days: Stories by Sam Shepard.
Glad to hear you thought THE HELP movie lives up to the book. I really really loved that book and have been nervous that the movie might disappoint.
I'm reading:In paper back from the library, The Firm My first by him after all this time despite hearing so many good things about him so lets see how it goes.
I'm also reading on kindle- A Child al Confino: The True Story of a Jewish Boy and His Mother in Mussolini’s Italy which is a different take on WW2 and the Holocaust period. Its very distressing as is the period in which it covers but I am still nonetheless enjoying it, its a fantastic read and such a different take on a well known story, it covers jews in Italy as opposed to jews in Germany. Brilliant!
I finished my 3rd read of It this morning. There are some many stories that are interwoven into the novel. This is my favorite book.I then jumped right into The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror. I needed something lighter after reading It.
I am currently reading House Of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski! Also I am listening to The Magician's Elephant by Kate DiCamillo on audiobook!
I'm about half way thru Pirates of Savannah: The Birth of Freedom in the Low Country and its ok so far but seems a little 2 dimensional.
Finished Dracula before the weekend (good book, I liked it), and am now on to the Dracula-inspired Dracula in Love by Karen Essex.

Thanks. The synopsis did sound good and now with your review, I'm more anxious to get to it. : )
im about halfway throught Breathers: A Zombie's Lament by S.G. Browne i had read his most recent novel Fated and just loved it, i have to say im really looking forward to reading more from this author, i love his books, they are quirky, funny, and over all very entertaining
Heather L wrote: "Finished Dracula before the weekend (good book, I liked it), and am now on to the Dracula-inspired Dracula in Love by Karen Essex."I really enjoyed Dracula in Love. I enjoyed it much more than the original Dracula.
Just finished Trapped which I enjoyed and did not think of as a YA book. But next one is YA Divergent and still working on Doc: A Novel
I am currently a little more than partway through Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale". It's very odd and a little slow to get going but then it gets good.
Dana * wrote: "Just finished Trapped which I enjoyed and did not think of as a YA book. But next one is YA Divergent and still working on Doc: A Novel"I loved Divergent, it definitely when on my to read again list.
I'm currently just starting The Phantom of the Opera. It looks like its gonna be a fun read.
I re-read Fortress in the Eye of Time for another group, and it held up even better the second time. Then The Soul Mirror, which was fabulous.
I am half through The 19th Wife for our book club read.
.Madame Tussaud: A Novel of the French Revolution by Michelle Moran I won this book through good-reads first reads and have been really enjoying it. This is the first book I've read by this author she does a great job of taking you through history without realizing how much you are learning. To me that is what makes a good historical novel when you get so wrapped up in the story you don't realize that you learned something too. I will pick up more books by this author in the future.

Hi Cate! I'm just about done, and have really enjoyed it. It is not necessary to have read the original Dracula to enjoy Dracula in Love, but I am glad I did (even if it did kill my 5-book lead towards my goal for this year). I like seeing how this take on the classic novel differs from Stoker's story. I'm about 50 pages from the end, so you know there will be no sleeping tonight until I'm finished. Would have had it done already but there was a football game on tonight. *g*
I'm a little over halfway through Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children---pretty good so far. I also started a series by Karen Kingsbury. The first in the series is Redemption. I think there are 10 in the series so I may be reading these for awhile.!
"Love In The Time Of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marouez. I have been reading it for a few months, mostly because I've been busy, and I've read other things in between. It's one of my summer books, of which I have 2 more to finish before the official end of summer, so I better get a move on!
I have also recently hopped on the
bandwagon and am now partway through Book #2. What is everyone thinking so far?

. Gave it a 3.3. The concept is good, but the execution was a bit ho-hum. The ending is what put it in the 3 category for me. Before that I..."I realize that I'm a little late replying here, but I have to say that I totally agree! I had such high hopes for this one, but it felt like any old run of the mill mystery novel to me.
I don't think it helped that I read it right after
-- felt too similar (memory issues + mystery), though I've had a harder time deciding how I felt about the latter.
in last week, i've finished Wicked which i LOVED, and 29, which was OK but nothing great. today i started The Wolves of Andover but have only gotten about 30 pages in to it.
Just finished Beautiful Liesby Lisa Unger and Fresh Disastersby Stuart Woods. Started today on Letter From Homeby Carolyn Hart.
I finished We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson yesterday and loved it! Now I am reading The Turn of the Screw by Henry James and UR by Stephen King! Really enjoying both!

. I'm on page 18. i'm hoping that it lives up to it's reputation."I'm not much farther than you, I'm only on pg 40. I think its not bad so far.
I'm reading The Bean Trees
by Barbara Kingsolver. Don't know why I've taken so long to read this! I love her writing style, so her other works are on my "to read" list as well.
I just finished The Excess Road and am working on The Sixth Discipline and then two or three more books to wrap up August. :)
I was going to start 13 Rue Therese but I got distracted and started Discord's Apple by Carrie Vaughn instead. Very good so far.
I finished Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban last night and I started The Summer I Died this morning.

For fans of The Help, I saw the movie today and it was really good. For once, the movie lived up to the book for me.
