What are you reading?
I'm currently 2/3 of the way thru The Oracle of Stamboul and half way thru Clockwork Angel and I love both of these so far. I think Clockwork Angel is actually better than the Mortal Instruments series.
I finished You Know When the Men Are Gone and enjoyed it so much more than I had expected. Also finished The History of Love but... less impressed with that one. All the "And yet." and "But."'s were driving me crazy. And now... to decide what to read next.
I just finished The Ghost Trap, which i am also hosting a giveaway for. I think this book has great group read potential.
I've just finished a book entitled, In the Fullness of Time, by historian Dr. Paul Meier. It's a great book about Christmas, Easter, and the early Church.
I'm reading Will Grayson, Will Grayson and am liking it so far, but that means nothing considering how many books I read last month that started great and then went downhill halfway through. Hopefully, this month is better than last month book-wise.
I am reading The Ladies of Missalonghiby Colleen McCullough. I just love that little book. I stopped reading The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton so I could concentrate on that one. I can't seem to be able to read several books at a time. I may start then one will take over the other.
I just finished The Oracle of Stamboul I really loved this story and hated to see it end.Am over half way thru Clockwork Angel
Just finished up The Pact by Jodi Picoult and I am just beginning The Persuader. The Pact was an outstanding story of a possible suicide pact between two teens whose families were the best of friends. Although it has the hallmarks of a Picoult novel -plot twists, strong characters, and a switch of narration between time settings, the book was in my opinion one of her better ones.

I have a bunch going right now but I'm almost finished with Season Of Secrets (Steeple Hill Love Inspired Suspense) by Marta Perry. She is a new author for me and am loving this book!
Patricia wrote: "I finished The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga which I thought was really good. Now I'm going to start Say You're One of Them by Uwem Akpan."
Two absolutely fantastic reads!
I finished Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and really enjoyed it so I jumped right into Dragonfly in Amber by her too, but that was a huge mistake. It is dragging and I am so bored. I'm not sure if I just needed a break from the series or if I truly don't like the book. Impossible to tell. I am anxious to get through the last 200 pages and dive into Room
I'm now reading Undead and Unreturnableby MaryJanice Davidson. I love this series and this author!!!
I began The French Revolution yesterday. It's raunchy and hilarious! And if you have an iPhone or iPad, it also comes with a free app that gives you loads of "extras"... It's not currently available through Android so I can't access any of it.... awww nuts!!!
Read recently Alice Walker's "By the Light of My Father's Smile", read Colette's Claudine's House and now reading an adapted book of Olaudah Equiano, adapted for younger readers but it was the only copy of the Life of Olaudah Equiano they had!
Monef wrote: "I finished Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and really enjoyed it so I jumped right into Dragonfly in Amber by her too, but that was a huge mistake. It is dragging and I am so b..."Monef, Dragonfly In Amber is the slowest of this series. It was my least favorite, too.
I used to work with Mary Janice. We did the newsletter together. She is so fun! It comes out in her writing
Mafalda wrote: "I'm reading Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult :)"Did you know there is a fan club on site for Picoult books? I read and enjoyed this Picoult book also.
I'm reading in between working and sleeping Persuader by Lee Childs. It's pretty good-enough so that I pivkd up another book by Childs anyway.
I am just finishing Infinite Jest, which was quite a marathon, just starting The Autograph Man by Zadie Smith, and I just bought Moore’s Mythopoeia by Chirstopher Wunderlee, which I’m very excited about (his previous book was very good).
I just finished The Ladies of Missalonghi by Colleen McCullough. I am now reading Casting Off by Nicole R. Dickson at the same time, The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton.
Im trying to finish The Kite Runner and Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God this weekend if time allows. Plus I cant seem to pull myself away from this computer long enough to pick up a book. SORRY MY FELLOW BOOKWORMS :P
Lori wrote: "I just finished Elizabeth C. Bunce's A Curse Dark as Gold, which I loved and highly recommend. I'm currently reading [book:Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pa..."
i absoultely loved Lamb, i guareetee you if you love this book, you will love all his books, its hard once you start reading Moores books not to become a fan. enjoy :)
i am just about to start Here We Go Again by Betty White very excited to start this book, as Betty White is one of my fav actresses and shes hilarious :)
Now reading The Emperor's Tomb by Steve Berry. I won this from Goodreads First reads. This is the first Steve Berry book I've read and it is really a page turner.
Susan wrote: "I have this one somewhere in my piles......how are you liking it Rosabelle??"Hi Susan, I'm still on the first 40 pages of the book, so far so good. Picoult is one of my fave author. have you read her other books?
Lentz wrote: "I am just finishing Infinite Jest, which was quite a marathon, just starting The Autograph Man by Zadie Smith, and I just bought Moore’s Mythopoeia by Chirstopher Wunderlee, which I’m very excited ..."How do you like Zadie Smith? I have On Beauty sitting on my tightly squeezed bookshelf, but I've been reluctant to read it due to some bad experiences of other friends. However, they are not really big readers, so I don't know!
I'm currently halfway through Yukio Mishima's The Sound of Waves. Normally I don't enjoy the "coming of age" stories, but his imagery of the ocean and nature is quite beautiful and makes me wish I was sitting on the beach witnessing this story.
I finished The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery which I wasn't crazy about. Now I'm moving on to The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson.
Patricia wrote: "I finished The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery which I wasn't crazy about. Now I'm moving on to The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson."i LOVED The Gargoyle. still one of the best books i've ever read. slightly disturbing, and occasionally tough to read, but so worth it. i hope you enjoy it!
i'm kind of in a reading slump. i've started 3 books this week, Lark and Termite, The Zookeeper's Wife, and Misguided Angel and not one of them has really grabbed me. this is unusual, so i'm not sure what to do about it. i may just scrap them all and try a new set of choices. of course, The Zookeeper's Wife is for a book group, so i'll to read that one sooner rather than later.
Maria, I just compared books with you. Of the books we've both read, our ratings are very similar. Going by that, I would recommend you read Child 44. It's on your TBR list, it's fast paced and it's a good story.
