I can't think of three choices any more different from each other! You Suck was fun, it is a sequel to Bloodsucking Fiends, which I did not know when I read it. I thought I was the only person who has not read Hunger Games, but the good news is if you like it, the second book is out and the third comes out in August I believe, so not too much wait time.
As for Great Gatsby, I won't pick on you mercilessly even if I made 85 sophomores read it this year or at least pretend too.
Not sure I helped much, it depends on what your mood is....

I read Out Stealing Horses. It was fantastic. I loved it and can't wait to read Curse the River of Time.

I read it in high school but remember absolutely nothing about it. I haven't the fainest idea what its about but I remember I didn't care for it much then. Which makes me curious enough to want to read it again and see if I still agree.

Laura: Those books, LUXE,ENVY,SPLENDOUR... are on my list. I wouldn't even mind buying them(library sale/thrift store) because the covers are so pretty.

One of my favorite books. I always recommend it. Like you, Eliza, I laughed, cried and every emotion in between. I'm glad you're enjoying it.
On a side note, I saw the movie (on TV) some time after reading the book and wasn't at all impressed. I think if I'd seen the movie first, I wouldn't have bothered with the book (which would have been a real shame).

My library has a an account with this site where you can download audiobooks and put them on your ipod or listen to them on your computer. I was never that interested in reading the books because they didn't sound like my thing, though I did think the covers were pretty. But I love listening to audiobooks at work and this just seemed perfect to listen to. So far I'm really intrigued with it. I didn't expect it pull me in that way.

Ha, Ha... I hope not, I have only been teaching for a few years. It's definitely different the second time around.

I have seen a bit about these books lately. I definitely think I need to check them out.

Do you watch GOSSIP GIRL? These books are kind of like period Gossip Girl novels.
I think my library does the download of audiobook thing too. But I've never gone the audiobook route. I prefer to read.

I am presently reading a Maise Dobbs book Birds of a Feather, but have been so busy that I haven't had a chance today to just read...
I also have Diane Chamberlain's book I have started The Lies We Told

I usually like to read as well, but I have a very boring office job and listening to audiobooks is the only way I stay awake.
I've never seen Gossip Girl. I don't watch much TV. I've considered it a few times, but never gotten around to actually watching it.

I'm going to be the little devil on your shoulder and tell you to read The Girl Who Played with Fire. I just finished it and it's even more amazing than the first.

Wow, what book envy I have! I'd love to read it and keep clicking for it to be available for Kindle - fingers crossed!
Finished My Brother's Keeper: The Official Bra Boys Story the other day which I liked, though it did drag on for me. A lot about surfing, which not being a sufer wasn't that capturing for me. The second half of the book was much more interesting.
Now onto Seeds of Greatness which I've just started the second chapter of. A bit funny but not laugh out loud funny, will have to see how it goes to form a judgement yet.

Lazuline, I saw a video online somewhere that shows how they created that book cover. It was pretty cool!

Here's a basic rundown of The Great Gatsby - symbolism, symbolism, symbolism, bunch of things that are no longer relevant, EMO ALERT!, he shoots him, MORE EMO!, symbolism, the end. Really not worth the time to read.
...not that I have anything against the book, of course.

I have Jonathan Strange on my shelf at home. I keep avoiding it because of its size! I can't help it!

I listened to it on audio - it was one of those strange, "poisoned mind candy" books that, while I wasn't certain I actually enjoyed reading, I couldn't stop listening to it, either. Very bizarre book, in the "Victorian style" writing. It's long, and I can't really say "it's worth it" but I can say "you should read it."

Haha. I have an eclectic taste in books, I'm aware. That's part of what I love about reading... there's just so many different kinds of narratives and stories to taste and experience. You've definitely been helpful. I didn't know You Suck was a sequel either... nothing on the book make any indication of that fact, which is strange. Is reading the first one essential?

DUDE. Jesi. Did you just majorly spoil me!? I own the book, I'm going to read it eventually, if not now!

Also Reading Secret Daughter (really enjoying it, for an online discussion group I joined. I was hoping for a different choice, and didn't think I'd like it, but so far its a good read)
Finally I have The Tenant of Windfell Hall. So far not half bad.

Haha. I have an ..."
*I* wouldn't consider it a spoiler, unless you've read the book, but that's just the way my brain works.
As far as You Suck/Bloodsucking Fiends... Moore's books (even his "series" books) are easy to read as stand-alones. There's a bit of worldbuilding from each of them that you might miss (as expected) but it's usually not that important. So, even if you don't have Bloodsucking Fiends, you should be able to read You Suck without a problem.

It took me until I was about 30% into the book to get it into the "okay, I can tolerate this" area of "liking" the Passage.

This book is very interesting. I really hope you enjoy reading it.

Jamie, don't be afraid to tackle Jonathan Strange. It's really an easy read and a very good story.
I'm reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by JK Rowling and The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan.

Leslie - I am with Laura Ashlee - read the next book now and start to look for who you can beg, borrow or buy the third one from.

I love Mary Balogh's books
Still reading Maise Dobb's Birds of a Feather... Not a lot of time for the next couple of days to read.... Cool enough for housework...

Yeah, that part of the book I'm really enjoying, and the writing is very well done as well. It's better than her other book. My biggest problem are a lot of the characters are intolerable in the better moments, let alone during the rest of the book.

Hi Marty, this is my first Mary Balogh book, a friend lent it to me, and I kinda like the way she writes the story.. and the character's funny too

Laura: I've only seen season 1 of GOSSIP GIRL and that was a while ago so I remember bits and pieces. I did enjoy it though. It's a guilty pleasure. I've never read the books. I think season 3 is airing now. Unfortunately my library doesn't have this show on DVD. I'll have to wait until I re-start NETFLIX.
