I have Secrets of Eden next in the pile on my nightstand. I'm glad to hear that it's worth reading because I bought it and it's a hardback. lol

You will love this book. I was hooked on the first page. There are lulls but not too many.

Let me know how you like it.

Alisha Marie (endlesswonderofreading) | 715 comments I finished Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons by Lorna Landvik and I loved it! I now want to grab my friends and start a bookclub like theirs.

I'm thinking of picking up Matilda by Roald Dahl. I loved this movie as a kid and bought the book for a buck about a week ago.

Stephanie | 413 comments I finished Beat the Reaper: A Novel and now I'm on to Shutter Island!!

message 17957: by Petra (last edited Feb 17, 2010 09:17PM) (new)

Petra I was listening to Heartsick but the CD player in the car stopped working. I'm taking it in on the weekend to see if they can fix it quickly. Sigh.....I'm about half through the second disc and the story is just starting to pick up.
The weird thing about this audio is that it is the same Narrator as The Hunger Games so I keep picturing Katniss, Peeta and Hamitch as the characters because she uses the same voices.
I'm still reading Lolita. I'm having a hard time reading it for any length of time. It's well-written but the theme is so hard to read. I feel so sorry for that girl.
I've also started Persepolis 2: The Story of a Return tonight.

This makes me smile, because Matilda is my all time favorite book! It inspired my bibliophilia. The movie is different from the books in many ways, but still very entertaining. My brother and I watched it over Christmas break--who cares if we're adults (well sort of)?
I finished Shell Shaker tonight, which I really enjoyed.

Vonney Young (ysgillen67) | 75 comments I'm reading THE PEOPLE OF THE BOOK by Geraldine March for one of my Raleigh face-to-face bookclubs. So far, I love it. Have also starte THE RISK POOL by Richard Russo for my other bookclub in Raleigh. I like it too,
but not far into it since the other club meets first.
I just finished THE INVISIBLE WALL and THE DREAM by
Harry Bernstein. Loved the first one a lot, but the second one, The Dream, is a little repetitive. I excuse the author for this since he is 99-years-old and working on a 4th book.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 1736 comments Finished The Class of 1846: From West Point to Appomattox: Stonewall Jackson, George McClellan, and Their Brothers last night, and it was quite good. McClellan is unintentionally hilarious: arrogant, pompous, paranoid, self-pitying, and seeing 2 Confederates behind every tree.

I am currently reading Secrets of Eden and while I think Skeletons at the Feast (a totally different type of book) was more of a page-turner for me, this one is well done. I am on page 202 and would give it a 3.5 to date.

Shutter Island was a true suspense novel with twists and turns. I DO NOT like scary books and I too thought the commercials looked scary HOWEVER I could not put the book down. I was reading more than once later into the night then I should have.

Alton | 1 comments Reading Middlemarch now for a talk being held in April at Symphony Space here in NYC. Gave myself more then enough time to finish unlike my partying days in college where I never made it past page 100. Should be fun-Jennifer Egan, Siri Hustvedt, and Margot Livesey are leading the discussion and I am definitely enjoying it better this time around.

message 17999: by Jayme (new)

Jayme (jayme-reads) I finished Stephen King's On Writing today while I was stuck in traffic. It was super awesome. Really neat to here so much about him starting out as an author and even the more technical parts weren't really technical, more like a story about how being an author works. Anyway, 'nough blabbing.

Now I'm thinking I'll finally pick up Under the Dome for a little more Stephen King Action.

message 18000: by Maria (new)

Maria (minks05) | 481 comments i finished What I Did for Love from Susan Elizabeth Phillips last night. total chic book, but a nice light and quick read.

i started a book given to me my a co-worker, it's called Jane Bites Back from Michael Thomas Ford. it's about Jane Austen living in our time, but she's a vampire. kinda different, but good so far. i'll start The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo when i finish this one.
